Image:SensorSizes.svg[edit]

Hi, I'm not sure if it's a good idea to convert the text in this SVG to paths, as it makes it a lot more annoying to edit. What I usually do as a workaround is make a PNG rasterized version with Inkscape, in this case Image:SensorSizes.png, and explicitly link between them on the summary page. --en:User:Moxfyre 05:40, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

The reason I do it that way is so that the most up-to-date SVG version is easily available to start editing from in order to create the next version. Otherwise, if you convert the text to paths, anyone who wants to update the SVG has to re-create the text, which is a pain... it's basically like redrawing a bitmap as an SVG over again. I wish MediaWiki used Inkscape as its renderer :-( Moxfyre 05:45, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
I see. At least the one with text is still there as an older version, right? Isn't an SVG preferred to PNG in general? Dicklyon 06:07, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

colorVision.jpg[edit]

Hello!

The image was posted on this site: http://www.bg.ic.ac.uk/research/vision/Hiroshi/ and I copied the reference. I am not familiar with any explicit copyright issues since I do not own the book, but since the image was found on the web with cited reference I concluded it is most likely that the image is free to distribute with reference citations..

What do you think is not correct, the image itself or the reference/source? I think this image is more likely to be correct than the current one as it shows the secondary peak which explains why we see violet as a mix of blue and red. The images here http://notexactlyrocketscience.wordpress.com/2007/03/29/human-cone-cell-lets-mice-see-in-new-colours/ and here http://www.psych.ndsu.nodak.edu/mccourt/Psy460/Color%20Vision/Color%20Vision.html also show a tendency of red and green cone cells towards a secondary peak. I suppose you could exchange this image for the one on the last page, as it is clear who the author is, although it is of lesser quality as it is missing the part of the red/green response curve below 400nm where the actual peak lies.

I suppose you or I should contact Mr. Hiroshi Momiji from the aforementioned page to clear that out, as I took the image and the information about it from his page.

Efodix (talk) 10:56, 20 January 2009 (UTC)

So you're not in a position to grant copyright license, since you're not the copyright owner; I removed that tag. Also, the description "The relations between relative absorbance and wavelength calculated for S, M and L cones in humans" makes little sense and doesn't begin to explain what these curves were intended to show. Hello, Dicklyon!

Tip: Add categories to your images

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

Uploadwizard-categories.png

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations"). Pro-tip: The CommonSense tool can help you find the best category for your image.

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

This message was added automatically by Nikbot, if you need some help about it please read the text above again and follow the links in it, if you still need help ask at the ? Commons:Help desk in any language you like to use. --Nikbot

Re: error in step response[edit]

I have uploaded better versions with the same file name --Krishnavedala (talk) 06:40, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

The image I uploaded becomes redundant and I will mark it for deletion. Please add the equations used to generate the graph in its description. --Krishnavedala (talk) 00:28, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
Corrected the equation and uploaded a newer plot.

You did a good job with lightening the shadow in this image without washing out the image. I see what you mean about the over-sharpened look of the original, but think you may have gone a little overboard with the amount of blurring. Regardless of whether you agree, thank you for your efforts and good intentions. Kbh3rd (talk) 00:00, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

This was a photo I took myself, not something I found on the web. If a photo of a product is a copyright violation, maybe a more appropriate template message could be found to say so. Dicklyon (talk) 06:22, 3 March 2015 (UTC)
