Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.
[[Category:Category name]]
For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:
[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]
This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 10:43, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Photo idea in FB County
[edit]Hi again! I found that the en:Malankara Orthodox Diocese of Southwest America is based at 3101 Hopkins Rd Beasley, TX 77417, on a rural road (source).
If you have time and you are interested, here's another photo idea.
Thanks, WhisperToMe (talk) 22:26, 1 February 2022 (UTC)
- @WhisperToMe: I have not taken pictures of Texas towns or schools since before the pandemic, sadly. I need to start again. The place you mentioned above is about halfway between Beasley and Tavener. Djmaschek (talk) 00:27, 2 February 2022 (UTC)
I'm wondering if youre OK taking Pearland ISD photos sometime or if those would not be convenient. If youre OK with that I can list photo requests. WhisperToMe (talk) 04:43, 19 July 2022 (UTC)
- @WhisperToMe: I recently finished posting photos of all Alvin ISD schools (except one new Junior High under construction). It is a big district and getting the photos took me three trips to the area at 3-4 hours per trip. I wasn't planning on getting pictures of Pearland ISD schools. I live in Sugar Land and it's farther away than Alvin ISD. If I decide to start a new project, I will consider it. Djmaschek (talk) 14:40, 24 July 2022 (UTC)
I started the article on en:Randle High School which opened in 2021. I found Pleak, Powell Point, Kendleton, and parts of southern Rosenberg were rezoned to this school. WhisperToMe (talk) 23:51, 22 September 2022 (UTC)
- @WhisperToMe: Strangely enough, I've never heard of Randle HS, even though I live within Lamar CISD. I will need to go take a photo. I did hear that Lamar CISD voted to name one of its planned elementary schools after Willie Melton, a major litigant in en:Terry v. Adams along with en:Arizona Fleming. (I wrote the Fleming article.) Djmaschek (talk) 19:17, 23 September 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for creating the Arizona Fleming article! It's very important to have it. Also I should see if I could write an article about Willie Melton. Anyhow, I found James Roberts Middle School in Fulshear (its area was now annexed by Fulshear) doesn't seem to yet have a picture on the Commons. WhisperToMe (talk) 23:11, 27 September 2022 (UTC)
- The last school photo that I added was in May 2018. Time waits for no one! It looks like I need to look into what schools to add. Djmaschek (talk) 02:31, 28 September 2022 (UTC)

I saw the pic of the new building of Meadows Elementary School (12037 Pender Lane Meadows Place, TX 77477). I think it looks really cool! If you haven't already photographed it... I may photograph it if I get to the Sugar Land area at some point, but youre welcome to try to take a picture of it if you can get to it faster WhisperToMe (talk) 21:27, 19 February 2023 (UTC)
