There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

David Blalock painting[edit]

What's the situation with all the David Blalock paintings you uploaded that you claim to be the author of? Most are all clearly signed by the artist, so we must have the permission of the artist to use the license you have added because your photos are derivative works. Is the artist still alive? I cannot find any confirming details. The image mentioned above File:Blalock Self-portrait in uniform.jpg is attributed to Carolyn Dollar but it too has Blalock's signature. Thanks Ww2censor (talk) 23:18, 14 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Ww2censor, I just sent off an email to Arthur Crombez in response to my upload of the first photo. I don't know the URL of the page I have uploaded that first image, but my name is Elisabet Stacy-Hurley...and my article is Draft:Dennis Blalock. DENNIS not David. I had contacted Wikimedia Commons in regard to the copyright and filled out the 'permissions request' to be her representative.. I had gotten the copyright holders permission over the phone but understand that was not enough.
I gave her name (Carolyn Dollar) and all her contact info in the request . Mr.Crobez had asked me to notify him after I had all the files uploaded. I just found them today (lost for a day...needed help to find them), and just notified him a short time ago that they are alal uploaded. I will not do anything with the photos until I hear from the permissions. the Ticket # is 2017060910015069
Please let me know if you need more info from me. I am a newby at this....Thank you. Elisabet Stacy-Hurley Elisabet Stacy-Hurley (talk)
What have Arthur Crombez or Carolyn Dollar got to do with the copyright of paintings by David Blalock? You did not reply as to his status but I see he has recently died. So who is the copyright holder of his paintingS. The OTRS Team have to verify the permission from the current copyright holder and not anyone else unless they can prove they have authority to verify that permission. Remember that ownership of an artistic work does not confer an copyright to the owner with resides with the artists or their heirs. Without this any other claims are just unverified claims made by you. And the commons has no concerns about any article you are writing or you want to use them in, we just care about the images' copyright status. BTW, I don't know how you could lose your uploads. All you have to do to find them is to just click on the "User uploads" link button on the left side of the window when in your own user page, or user talk page and they all appear there like this. Do the same to see you contributions by clicking the "User contributions" link button. You may be a newbie but you asked similar questions twice on the enwiki media questions page and received replies, including one from me, that essentially state what I am telling you here. Thanks Ww2censor (talk) 08:56, 15 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
BTW, there is no need to duplicate your post on my talk page. I even have a hatnote telling you to just drop a {{Talkback}} when you have replied here but you may not have read it and also I notice you don't always signi your posts by adding four tildes like this ~~~~, to the end of a talk page post, which gives your user name so there is no need to actually write it manually, this just causes a bot to tag them as unsigned. Have a look at this to see what I mean. Anyway thanks, I await your response. Ww2censor (talk) 09:48, 15 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Ww2censor....Arthur Crombez is the person who responded to my submission of the permissions request form. Told me to upload all and then let him know when I had done that. Caroline Dollar is the sole heir who is the copyright holder of DENNIS Blalock paintings (died Sept.17,2015). I put all her contact information in the request form. She has told me she is totally happy with me (working as her unpaid representative) using all 24 of these paintings in this article about her brother, Dennis Blalock. I am sorry I have made so many dumb mistakes, but hope you can understand that someone like me who is pretty much computer illiterate in the first place can be having a hard time learning all the wiki rules, text, symbols and language. Thanks. StrugglingElisabet Stacy-Hurley (talk) 14:08, 15 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Elisabet Stacy-Hurley and Ww2censor: Dear all, I added an OTRS template on the mentioned files. Request is currently proceeding with Ticket:2017060910015069. --Arthur Crbz (talk) 16:13, 15 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
(Edit conflict) Hopefully Arthur Crbz can figure it out for you. I understand copyright can be complicated and a strain on newbies; I've only been dealing with copyright issues here for 10 years and I don't knew all there is about it. Anyway, struggle less. Somehow you will have to get a verification from either Caroline Dollar, as the heir, or from Arthur Crombez with some verification by Caroline Dollar that he can deal on her behalf, but unless she sends a letter giving her permission for him to represent her, it would be just as easy for her to verify her being the heir and allowing free use of the painting images. The ORTS team will try to deal with it but they are very backlogged and unless she emails a copy of the probate, I don't know how she can prove she is the heir. Also are you sure she relaises that a free licence means anyone can use images of the painting for any derivative or commercial use? So any commercial opportunities she gets may be severely curtailed. In such inatances, an artist or heir may release one or two images freely as illustrative of the artists style. In fact I wonder why you would want to use 22 images is such an article in the first place. It would really just be best for her to respond by email directly with the OTRS team and cut out all the middle-men (well not all men but you know what I mean). On big problems is that all the images have you as the author and that is clearly false; you may have taken the photos but you are not the artist so you should fix that asap. Good luck and let me know if I can assist as I don't like nominating images for deletion unless really necessary. Ww2censor (talk) 16:27, 15 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again Ww2censor....thank you.....and the reason I listed myself as author is that there was no other choice that was correct that enabled me to load them. The copyright holder, Carolyn Dollar had given me verbal OK to be her representative, although it must be confirmed legally I understand that. Just talked to her on the phone and she is willing to provide whatever proof is required of her. That is what I am waiting for. I think that will solve the 'authorship' question. Also, I explained to her about the free license...and she is understands that. But, I was told by an editor previously that I could submit the photos in a smaller format, and she could reap the benefit if some publication would want to pay something use them in a larger format. I am doing this with no expectation of that personally. I want to use these 24 images to show the variety of his work, and these are just a small sampling. Currently, there is very little information online about Dennis Blalock, and I'm hoping this article will change that before so much info is lost. Thank you again for your questions...I know they are to help me keep out of trouble.Elisabet Stacy-Hurley (talk) 18:22, 15 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You made a post on OTRS noticeboard[edit]

Hi. You made a post on Commons:OTRS/Noticeboard. I responded to it here. Thanks, seb26 (talk) 12:29, 5 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Seb26, I recently got word that the copyright issue is settled and I hope I can now start adding the 24 photos to my Draft: Dennis Blalock bio. Not sure how to begin that process, now need to figure that out. but see that the photos are now available, I want to use fairly small sizes in the bio.... and I don't want others to be able to download larger images to make prints from. How do I make sure of this? I stated this originally, and was told that was OK...now I just want to make sure there is nothing more I need to do in regards to this. Dennis Blalock paintings and claim of "own work"[edit]

I understand that the powers-that-be have been satisfied that Blalock's heir has granted permission to release these paintings under the CC license that applies on Wikipedia and Wikimedia. I'm working to change the claims of {{Own work}} on these to have the source say {{Private correspondence}}. This should quell concerns such as some of those expressed earlier on this talk page.
