Shayokan[edit]

Hallo Elmo-san,

Gruß -- Elmo rainy day (talk) 23:55, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics)[edit]

Thank you for uploading some images!

Did you know that the SVG format is often the best alternative for this type of image? Scalable Vector Graphics have a lot of advantages: They scale better, the file size is usually smaller then raster graphics, and they are easier to modify and translate, helping Wikimedia to distribute knowledge to all of the world. A lot of modern programs support SVG export, though the result is not always what you may expect. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask me, a member of the Graphic Lab, or the Graphics village pump. Uploading images in SVG format isn't mandatory, but it would help. (Just to avoid any misunderstandings, please don't just put the raster image into a svg container as embedded raster.)[5] Thanks, and happy editing!

Please properly use the source field[edit]

Hi Elmo rainy day,
Thank you for your contributions to Commons. It looks like a file you uploaded to Commons has an invalid entry indicated for its "Source" on File:Nankai50000Series02.jpg. It is important that the "Source" field, which is the record of where a file came from, be accurate and as machine-readable as possible so that others can verify its license and be able to reuse the file under the correct terms. Sources such as "Me", "Self" or "My camera" should be replaced with the template {{Own}}. {{Own}} is a localized (i.e., translated) template that adapts to the user's interface language. Sources such as "Google", "The Internet", etc. are not considered valid and may result in deletion of the file. If you did not generate the file yourself, then please be as specific as you can in identifying your source: ideally, this would be a stable link to the exact page the image or file came from, or the title, year, and page number of the book where you found it (a link to the website in general is not usually considered specific enough, nor is simply restating the name of the author).

--DAJF (talk) 05:33, 5 January 2017 (UTC)

Dear DAJF, thanks for the hint. I just uploaded an image from the Japanese Wikipedia, which has not yet been uploaded to Commons. I checked the link to the file source and it worked well. Nevertheless I replaced the English word "file" by the japanese word ファイル in the path to the image to make sure that you can reach out to the original image. Please check. Regards -- Elmo rainy day (talk) 12:16, 5 January 2017 (UTC)
Hi, thanks for making the file transfers. Have you considered using Commonshelper? It should be a quicker and easier process, and ensures all the source information is recorded. Ytoyoda (talk) 15:08, 5 January 2017 (UTC)
Dear Ytoyoda, thanks for your notice. I used the "upload assistent", but the Commonshelper looks more comfortable to me. I will check it out next time. -- Elmo rainy day (talk) 19:02, 5 January 2017 (UTC)
