Hello, Feddacheenee!
Tip: Add categories to your images

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

Uploadwizard-categories.png

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

OK, I understand. I assumed that graffiti on a railroad car was for public use. Sorry.

File:CN 6226 and IC 3102.jpg[edit]

Hi Feddacheenee. I'm trying to update the categories for File:CN 6226 and IC 3102.jpg and was hoping you either had a clearer version of it or could help decipher the road numbers. I can't identify the CN locomotive's numbers and I don't think CN has a #6226. Thanks, Mackensen (talk) 22:20, 2 April 2012 (UTC)

Unfortunately I don't have a clearer picture of those engines. I did find a clearer picture of another CN-IC lashup and I will upload that when I have time. If memory serves, that is CN 6226 but it could be 5226. Thanks, Feddacheenee.

File: GT 4934.JPG[edit]

I'd like to add this picture of Grand Trunk Western GP38 4934 to the gallery on the main article about Grand Trunk Western. Its a great current photo of one of their locomotives.

You have my permission. Feddacheenee

Highways?[edit]

I know you primarily take photos of trains and the like, but if you're ever near a highway, our Iowa road picture categories are sorely lacking. –Fredddie 04:36, 23 December 2013 (UTC)

I'll do what I can. Feddacheenee (talk) 20:54, 11 January 2014 (UTC)

Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 04:38, 17 November 2016 (UTC) I took the pictures myself. I did not find them on the internet. Why are they copyrighted?
