I am writing to you because we are looking for feedback for a new Wikimedia Foundation project, Structured Data Across Wikimedia (SDAW). SDAW is a grant-funded programme that will explore ways to structure content on wikitext pages in a way that will be machine-recognizable and -relatable, in order to make reading, editing, and searching easier and more accessible across projects and on the Internet. We are now focusing on designing and building image suggestion features for experienced users.

We have some questions to ask you about your experience with uploading images here on Wikimedia Commons and then adding them to Wikipedia. You can answer these questions on a specific feedback page on Mediawiki, where we will gather feedback. As I said, these questions are in English, but your answers do not need to be in English! You can also answer in your own language, if you feel more comfortable.

Once the collecting of feedback will be over, we will sum it up and share with you a summary, along with updated mocks that will incorporate your inputs.

Categorie[edit]

Salûi e grazie mille per l'importante lavoro di riordino in corso; mi permetto solo di segnalare alcuni punti che necessitano di un controllo/fix prima che me ne dimentico:

  • Qua c'é un typo da correggere; l'avrei fatto anch'io, ma mi è stato segnalato di recente un procedere non del tutto ortodosso nel mandare in cancellazione le categorie con problemi al titolo ed è meglio che prima m'informo a dovere per evitare ulteriori errori :')
  • Qua la forma corretta è col "-", difatti è un doppione di questa, correttamente creata.
  • Doppione (titolo non standard) di questa.
  • Nelle categorie delle famiglie nobili (tipo qua ma anche altrove) credo che non vada inserita quella del cognome, in quanto vi si inseriscono già (se collegate su wd e con infobox, altrimenti si può fare anche manualmente) tutte le categorie dei componenti di quella famiglia (e anche altre, in casi di omonimie).
  • Per questa [1], nel caso avessi delle fonti a disposizione, pregherei di correggere anche la pagina su it.wiki, la quale riporta (non fontato) quanto precedentemente indicato.
  • Per qui e qui, premettendo che ho visto anch'io in alcuni casi la forma col "-", per uniformità con le altre categorie e con le loro pagine wiki (dei collegamenti me ne posso occupare anch'io senza problemi) imho è meglio senza; inoltre, per la prima, su fr.wiki è "Paola" Adorno Brignole Sale, diversamente dai titoli dei quadri di Van Dyck (senza fonti anche questa però).

Speedy deletion of publicly taken photos[edit]

Please note that photos taken in a public place, such as the Palazzo Ducale, are not eligible for speedy deletion per COM:CSD#F3. The purposes of this restriction is because COM:FOP rules across different countries can be quite tricky and sometimes, if the copyrighted object makes up only a portion of the image, it could fall under COM:DM or some other portion of the image could be salvaged by cropping. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 23:43, 6 February 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

There is a difference between regular deletion and speedy deletion; photos of modern Italian works can of course be nominated for regular deletion. Ciao Giovanni. Pourrais-tu stp faire un peu plus attention quand tu crées des catégories. Tu as créé plusieurs catégories xxth-century metalware, ce qui est très bien. Objects from the Grave of the warrior in Sesto Calende[edit]

Ciao, ho visto che hai creato la categoria in oggetto, ricategorizzando i file pertinenti. Hai però inserito due diverse categorie di musei, visto che i reperti sono divisi fra Milano e Varese, eliminando contestualmente queste categorie dai file. In questo modo si perde la distinzione fra quali reperti sono a Milano e quali a Varese. Io ripristinerei queste categorie nelle singole immagini dei reperti appropriati, eliminandole dalla categoria "cappello" sugli oggetti ritrovati nella tomba (come anche la categoria "Bronzes in Varese", che appunto si applica solo ad alcuni reperti). Sono d'accordo, e se sei in grado di farlo tu te ne sarei grado, perché io avevo solo notato solo che si era creata una categoria-pasticcio con reperti di varie tombe e ho cercato di districare il pasticcio. Quando creai la categoria i reperti erano tutti a Milano, non so se il museo abbia riaperto (lo scorso anno era chiuso) ma palesemente nel frattempo è successo qualcosa, anche perché l'allestimento è diverso (per esempio la situla ha un supporto differente). Quindi, per farla breve, se sei in grado di districare la matassa, te ne sarò grato. La mia intenzione è rendere più fruibile il materiale di Varese, aggiungendo categorie che permettano di rintracciarlo anche se ne si ignora l'esistenza, a partire dalle categorie madri. Ho capito. Conosco molto bene il museo di Varese, e diverse di quelle immagini le avevo caricate io anni fa, quindi dovrei riuscirci, domani guardo. Per i reperti che non sono a Varese sono meno preparato, ma guardando le categorie che hai messo tu nelle cronologie dei file non dovrei avere problemi, in caso contrario ti scrivo. Intanto ti ringrazio per il lavoro di categorizzazione sulle immagini di Varese, molte delle quali appunto sono mie. Ti faccio solo un appunto: ho notato che creando nuovi alberi di categorie a volte ne lasci qualcuna "rossa". Immagino che sia per poi crearle in futuro, ma sarebbe sempre preferibile crearle subito. Oggi comunque ne ho create io diverse, spero di aver fatto tutto giusto.

Hi G.dallorto, you've requested five files to the same filename. That's not possible and is a lot of work for a file mover. The last one went completely wrong, I renamed it three times (maybe my fault), but please don't give files the same name, when you request them. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category.

Per Commons:File renaming#Leaving redirects, file redirects should be kept except in exceptional cases (such as vandalism).
