Making the countymap from Republican Primaries, 2012 colorblind friendly

You have been doing some good work on the county map, so I would like to direct you attention to the need of making this map more colorblind friendly. I have posted this message on the talkpage of the articles using the map to get help from experienced mapmakers.
Since it is supertuesday and the maps will change a lot this will be a good time to make some good changes to the county map. So to all the mapguys out there:

  • Could we make the county map colorblind friendly? (it would be good to use the same colors already used in the state map in the infobox)
  • Could we included the Northern Marianna Islands in the territories?
  • Wouldnt it be a good time to loose the Missouri nonbinding primary? No one is really going to care about it after the Missouri cacuses anyway.
  • And if anyone has time: Could we update and make the schedule map colorblind friendly?

Here is some tips from a colorblind person, posted earlier about the schedule map: "Here is my problem with the primary schedule map: February is the same color as May. April is the same color as march. I recommend using the following colors: Red, blue, gray, orange, yellow, black. The colors need to be at maximal saturation. Red and black need to be different in brightess. The gray needs to be not at all blue. The orange needs to be different from the yellow in brightness. NO GREEN. NO BROWN. NO PURPLE. NO PINK. I can't see any difference at all between blue and purple. And using pastel colors is just cruel because the colorblind have lower detection thresholds for saturation. Also, another way to code maps is with patterns. I'd love to see more pattern-coded maps. The colorblind actually have superior pattern-detection systems as a direct result of being colorblind." 85.83.95.235 20:20, 6 March 2012 (UTC)

map question

Hello. I saw your map, [1] and am wondering if you could give the source? It says your work, but surely there is a website that has all the data by county? I look forward to seeing the new version, as some more results should be in today. (Lilic (talk) 19:57, 19 March 2012 (UTC)).

CNN has county results--Metallurgist (talk) 20:53, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
Could you give me a link? Also maybe it might be possible to make a map like this, showing absolute and plural majorities? [2] (Lilic (talk) 19:09, 1 April 2012 (UTC)).

Maui County goes to Romney, not to Paul. You have reverted Hawaii results to bad form. Correct version of Hawaii results: 19:32, 3 April 2012. Paul probably won with provisional ballots, but they aren't officially certified, so you mustn't count it. To categorize images within the hidden category "Photographs by Gage Skidmore" did you have to tag each one individually or is there a bot or command on Commons that will place images uploaded automatically? I have quite a few images on Commons and would ilke to group them together as well. Any feedback on the process would be appreciated. --Another Believer (talk) 15:57, 26 May 2012 (UTC)

Jill 2012 image

Hi, I'm wondering what I need to do to get the right copyright tag on the Jill Stein image I posted. I took the picture and I want to keep it published on wikipedia. There is a new system now for posting images since I last uploaded an image, so it appears that I missed something. Please let me know. Thanks GreenIn2010 (talk) 21:47, 9 June 2012 (UTC)

Hi, I see no evidence that this is a work of the federal government, so I nominated the image for deletion. Regards Hekerui (talk) 06:13, 21 June 2012 (UTC)

Hi there. I converted the speedy deletions you placed on several images of actresses earlier today into Deletion Reviews. I'm willing to speedy close those DRs, but I need a reason for the deletions before I'm willing to do that. Sven Manguard Wha? 01:13, 19 July 2012 (UTC)

Hi Gage, I've kept some of the files which have been filed by you for speedy deletion (two were deleted by Fastily, though). Please feel free to contact me if this is to be reconsidered. Cropped are not exact duplicates

If you review Commons:Deletion policy it specifically talks about exact duplicates. If an image has been cropped, it is not an exact duplicate and cannot be speedied through use of {{Duplicate}}, so I have to refuse them. If you wish to see them deleted, then please take through a normal deletion process, though to note that if they have been specifically cropped, it has been for a user's reason and they are less likely to get the community's approval, especially when being used at a sister site.  — billinghurst sDrewth 12:00, 10 May 2013 (UTC)

OTRS permissions queues

Hello Gage. You are receiving this message as a license reviewer. As you know, OTRS processes a large amount of tickets relating to image releases (called "permissions"). As a license reviewer, you may have the skills necessary to contribute to this team. If you are interested in learning more about OTRS or to volunteer please visit Meta-Wiki. Tell your friends! Thank you. Rjd0060 18:38, 1 March 2015 (UTC)

File names

Greetings: I was wondering why you put your own name in the upload title of your recent images? The license information refers to you. Awaiting your reply. Ellin Beltz (talk) 15:52, 4 March 2015 (UTC)

File:Jessica Alba by Gage Skidmore.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Question concerning the image "Ben Carson by Gage Skidmore 4.jpg"

Hello. I was wondering: If I use "Ben Carson by Gage Skidmore 4.jpg" as a Steam avatar, where exactly should I give you credit? Would retaining "by Gage Skidmore" in the file's name suffice, should I edit the image itself to include the due credit, or something else? Thanks! —The Sackinator (talk) 03:12, 5 May 2015 (UTC)

Nevermind, I'll assume that I just need to have the file's title use the name. --The Sackinator (talk) 02:04, 8 May 2015 (UTC)

Obviously a DW of your photo, so I've corrected the attribution. I figure you can nominate it for deletion if you want to, or upload the original on top of it. Cheers, Storkk (talk) 16:18, 10 September 2015 (UTC)

The original was already uploaded, so scratch that. Not sure what you'd prefer to do, so will leave it as it is now. Storkk (talk) 16:25, 10 September 2015 (UTC)

Nickelodeon Stars Pictures

Hello guy, I come here to ask you a favor, could post pictures of the current stars of the Nickelodeon when you have possession of them? stars as Kira Kosarin, Addison Riecke, Ella Anderson among others, would be great to have these media personalities here in the Commons as it is quite missing to illustrate your articles around the world, thank you

Bye

Warning sign
This media was probably deleted.
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Joe Sestak Congressional Photo.jpg, was missing information about where it comes from or who created it, which is needed to verify its copyright status. The file probably has been deleted. If you've got all required information, request undeletion providing this information and the link to the concerned file ([[:File:Joe Sestak Congressional Photo.jpg]]).

If you created the content yourself, enter {{Own}} as the source. If you did not add a licensing template, you must add one. You may use, for example, {{self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-all}} or {{Cc-zero}} to release certain rights to your work.

If someone else created the content, or if it is based on someone else's work, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you!

Hi Gage, you're now a filemover. When moving files please respect the following advice:

  • Use the CommonsDelinker link in the {{Rename}} template to order a bot to replace all ocurrences of the old title with the new one. Or, if there was no rename-request, please use the Move & Replace-tab.
  • Please leave a redirect behind unless you have a valid reason not to do so. Other projects, including those using InstantCommons, might be using the file even though they don't show up in the global usage. Deleting the redirects would break their file references. Please see this section of the file rename guideline for more information.
  • Please know and follow the file rename guidelines.

Dates

I've noticed you haven't been adding specific dates on files you have uploaded (for example File:Marco Rubio by Gage Skidmore 10.jpg) when there is a clear date. Please take the time to add dates on further files you upload. MB298 (talk) 04:49, 10 February 2016 (UTC)

Please justify this file move by a criteria listed at COM:RENAME, and explain exactly why you felt it was appropriate to move a file, in use on multiple projects, that had been on Commons for over well over a year despite the general principle that "it's best to leave all files with generally valid names at their locations, even if slightly better names may exist." Revent (talk) 11:06, 10 February 2016 (UTC)

Edit summaries

Gage,

Please provide an edit summary when removing content or reverting other users. It helps the collaborative nature of the project and provides the rest of us with an indicating of why you're doing something. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 00:20, 2 March 2016 (UTC)

Loretta Lynch picture

Hello. Where exactly did you find the larger version of Loretta Lynch? I cannot find that size on the website and I'm trying to update the official portrait for another official in that department. Thanks, 🍀 Corkythehornetfan 🍀 00:00, 9 March 2016 (UTC)

Hi Gage, as it's been discussed here, I ask you to please edit the file using a text editor, every time you edit the file with Inkscape it adds some strings, the file size is increased by 2KB and it can lead to preview errors (see here). For simple SVGs like this one it's easier and faster to change <path id="MI" fill="#D3D3D3" ... /> to <path id="MI" fill="#283681" ... /> instead of going through Inkscape (and automatically adding unnecessary attributes and line breaks). Ciao! --Teoamez (talk) 10:31, 9 March 2016 (UTC)

Thank you very much ! -- Cirt (talk) 02:12, 3 April 2016 (UTC)

FYI, I uploaded a bunch of your recent pictures

I uploaded a bunch of your recent pictures from Flickr, you can see some of them at Category:Chad Griffin and at Category:West Des Moines, Iowa.

Please feel free to re-categorize and re-name the files however you see fit -- just please do leave a redirect behind if you move them.

Thank you once again for your valuable image contributions,
