Hi, Geek2003. I don't doubt this file was created by an user of Wikipedia, but notice that it was created using photos that I believe that were taken from the internet, and that is why I marked it as copyvio. Some examples of possible sources: [1] [2] (they are identical and have higher resolution, so they're not copies from Wikipedia). Maybe the best thing to do is revert the file to this version, without the copyrighted photos. Regards. ThiagoRuiz (talk) 05:21, 29 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

ThiagoRuiz, Please look at the labels on each image these are clearly not the same images. The ones that you have identified have Stickers on them with what appears to be Intel or 3Com on them but the stickers that are on the other they are not even close to the same. Please do not remove deletion request tags from images before an administrator has closed the debate. If you do not agree that the image should be deleted, you can express your opinion on the deletion request page. You can find this page via a link in the deletion request tag or at Commons:Deletion requests. Thank you.

Your new images[edit]

Hello Geek2003,

thank you for your new images. I've looked at them, and it seems they are completely new images of the same devices taken by you, is that correct? If yes, it would be better to upload them using different filenames, because on Commons we don't different images as versions of the same filename. Sorry if what I wrote earlier might have led you to believe otherwise, I was somehow under the impression that you wanted to uploaded reworked versions of the original images and provide a valid source showing they are not copyvios. I see now I assumed wrong. If and when the original images get deleted (please let an admin decide that), it will then be easy to replace them with your new images in the respective wikipedia articles. Regards --Rosenzweig δ 15:17, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Rosenzweig here too. The other really should be deleted as the source is dubious. Thanks --Herby talk thyme 15:25, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand how this works. If I upload the pictures to a new file name that is not the name of the product then the picture and the file are not correct and hundreds of links on other language wiki pages will break when the original picture is delete. Geek2003 (talk) 15:37, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It would be sufficient if you just changed the file extension from .JPG to .jpg (e. g. File:1140E-7.jpg instead of File:1140E-7.JPG), that would already constitute another filename. And with one exception, the files are all used only once or not at all. The exception is File:1140E-7.JPG, a bot can change those file links in the various wikipedia versions, and if necessary, a temporary file redirect could be made. Regards --Rosenzweig δ 15:42, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Also we can delete the original file image I guess. I'm sure either myself or Rosenzweig will be happy to help. Thanks for your efforts too. --Herby talk thyme 15:52, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know how to use a "bot" but I am always open to learning new tools. Will you help me through this process?

Also, I am planning to get better pictures with a new camera that I just got and do some professional editing to make the pictures better and upload them to replace the ones that I am uploading now, will I have to go through all this work and re-upload to a new name again? Seems very inefficient... Geek2003 (talk) 15:59, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I just tried to upload the new picture of the 8692SF with both the .JPG and .jpg and both give me the error - There is another file already on the site with the same content. Geek2003 (talk) 16:53, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Probably best to keep the discussion here I think (& maybe use "preview" before posting.
I'm not a bot expert at all so can't help you there.
If you come up with better images of your own then you just need to upload them over the ones you have uploaded today and they will be used in their place. Thanks --Herby talk thyme 16:56, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I reset the images that already had new versions by you to the original versions. Please try again, using the .jpg extension. --Rosenzweig δ 17:07, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Uploaded, but I need to go out with the family... I will check back tonight. Geek2003 (talk) 17:17, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Take your time. --Rosenzweig δ 17:34, 30 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have uploaded a couple pictures, but the white balance is not set correctly so I will have to read how to set that and retake the pictures. After that can I upload them as a new version as stated above by User:Herbythyme? If they look better then I would like some help in how to automate the replacement of these pictures for the old pictures on all the wikis that use them without having to go to all the pages on all the other language wikis and manually changing the information. Geek2003 (talk) 09:32, 1 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Preferably different pictures that are not simply variations (color corrections etc.) of the original ones should be uploaded using new file names. If the uploader is the same and the images are just improved images showing the same devices, one might make an exception to that, however. At least I think so.
Replacing the images might become a bit more difficult after deletion, sorry, I hadn't thought they would get deleted before you uploaded the replacements. Unfortunately, there also seems to be a bug currently in the Commons Delinker reporting interface, which tells which images where removed from which articles. But I'm confident we'll work it out.
Do you need anything from the file descriptions of the deleted images? I have access to them and can copy what you might need from there. --Rosenzweig τ 15:28, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
File:Avaya-10G-ERS-8600.JPG has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

ThiagoRuiz (talk) 17:25, 31 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please wait and I will get to this request as soon as I resolve the above problems. Geek2003 (talk) 09:34, 1 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Don't[edit]

And please DON'T remove any deletion tags etc. like that. If you continue to do so, you might get blocked. So really: DON'T. --Rosenzweig τ 15:31, 4 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Warning sign
This media was probably deleted.
Thanks for uploading File:Avaya ERS-5600-Stack-Rear.jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.

Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own).

The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:Avaya ERS-5600-Stack-Rear.jpg]]) and the above demanded information in your request.

Can you please help me provide the information that you have requested on this file? I don't understand what I need to do? I have an e-mail account associated with my wikipedia account, is this what you are looking for? I have never been asked for this information before, so this is a new process to me.

Thanks for any assistance or clarifications - Geek2003 (talk) 13:33, 4 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
