Great. Sorry about the sighing, I assumed the licence tags were correct. This seems the most effective way to delete copyvios from enwp though :P /grillo (talk) 12:25, 27 January 2010 (UTC)

Commons-emblem-issue.svg File:07_Censu_Tabone.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue.
Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Tip: Categorizing images[edit]

Hello, Grillo!

Tip: Add categories to your images

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

Uploadwizard-categories.png

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations"). Pro-tip: The CommonSense tool can help you find the best category for your image.

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Tack! Jag har inget emot att robotar säger åt mig att jag klantat mig med licenser osv, men när det bara handlar om kategorier på bilder jag laddade upp snabbt utan någon större tanke på att sitta och pilla med blir det irriterande. /grillo (talk) 17:02, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

Pieter Kuiper[edit]

The problem is not that Pieter nominates files for deletion; the problem is that he uses nominations for deletion to attack others. If any user has a dispute with him, they can expect a lot of nominations for deletion, many on flimsy grounds, and without being contacted first so that they could provide any minor information missing.

Any user has the right to search out copyvio. But when deletion reviews are used to attack people you're in dispute with, that ruins the ability to hold a reasoned, polite debate. Adam Cuerden (talk) 23:26, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

I have talked to Kuiper many times on svwp and I of all people know that he is difficult to talk to sometimes but I also know that he is usually right. Being right doesn't excuse bad behaviour but it actually wouldn't be that bad if he hadn't been treated badly from the beginning. Everyone should be able to question any image without regard of earlier conflicts with the user who uploaded the image. Also, don't mistake a sometimes cranky attitude for personal attacks. /grillo (talk) 23:32, 8 August 2010 (UTC)
In the abstract, that's true, but look at what actually happened here: it was literally half an hour after after Havang denied his unblock that he posted a big page, not only listing possible copyvios (without a very firm case, it must be said: they may or may not be, and I've set in motion them being checked), but claiming Havang refused his unblock because he wanted to protect himself from scrutiny, should not be an admin, etc.
Further, the original block wasn't for him pointing out copyvio, it was for him attacking anyone who disagreed with him. In, I think, most of the cases, he suggested a DR, had his arguments for why it was copyvio refuted, and now is using that to attack other users. Adam Cuerden (talk) 14:36, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
I obviously haven't checked all Pieter's edits but as I said I "know" his wiki self (haven't met him IRL even if he's open with who he is and where he lives), and it doesn't surprise me if he has sometimes stepped over the line between rational arguments and borderline personal attacks. However, I don't think it excuses the current behaviour against him. He is a very valuable asset when it comes to copyright questions and just because someone has a cranky attitude we can't block them.
By the way, maybe it's time to introduce yearly re-elections for adminship on Commons? We have had it on svwp since 2007 and are very pleased with it. It's a good way to make the admins less "powerful" by forcing them to be re-elected each year. That way, I think much of the rift between regular users and admins can be lifted. I have been an administrator on svwp since January 2005 and I consider myself an extremely regular user and am very familiar with the project. But on Commons and on enwp I always feel like a newbie and I always feel like I'm spoken down to. That probably is also why this situation has escalated so much. I think it has to do with a subconcious attitude from administrators that they are better than others. /grillo (talk) 15:08, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
I think it's more that he seems unwilling to be minimally polite, and that his motivations are so clear. People don't get upset, in my experience, with a politely set out notification of a copyright issue. However, if it's discovered that a user will make you a target, often frivolously (for instance, in the Havang(nl) list, Pieter suggests for deletion several with very little basis for his claim, like claiming images of standard types of buildings are copyright), then there's a problem. Adam Cuerden (talk) 17:01, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

Wall of Shame[edit]

Please don't bring Pieter's attacks to a new page. If you look into them, you'll see that most had been discussed and had Pieter's claims dismissed. If you still feel there's a problem, the better plan is to politely renominate them for deletion, referring to what mistakes you think were made in the previous deletion review.

That's one of the big problems with the Wall of Shame - in several cases, the discussion went against him, and his argument for why they were copyvio was basically destroyed. But he still harps on them, without making new arguments or countering the old ones. Adam Cuerden (talk) 16:56, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

The link doesn't work here. I'm moving towards delete (due to the simple geometric shapes copyright tag it has not really applying), but want to understand the situation first. Adam Cuerden (talk) 21:12, 11 August 2010 (UTC)

Kalla kriget i Europakarta[edit]

Hej! -- Lejman (talk) 21:54, 15 September 2016 (UTC)
