On Comma and Coat of Arms of the Royal Spanish Academy[edit]

Heralder, the name at spahish is bad: "Limpia, fija y da esplendor" not "Limpia fija y da esplendor". The comma is required between limpia and fija. I can't to edit the file, but you did it, so I request you then do correct the sentence. Thank you.

This is the link https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Coat_of_Arms_of_the_Royal_Spanish_Academy.svg

Muchas gracias

File:Grandes armas do Brasil.png[edit]

I do not know if Brazil in your sphere of interest: Do you know a source for that file above? I was told that the file is wrong, as an italian mantle with the "lacs d'amour" of the order of the Annunciade. Is it possible for you to correct the file? Is there really such a difference between the two grand arms of the imperial period, as shown in es:Escudo de Brasil? The french WP has the following blazon for the file above: De sinople, à la sphère armilaire d'or sur une croix de l'Ordre du Christ, entourée d'un anneau d'azur chargé de vingt étoiles d'argent. Is this correct?--Antemister (talk) 18:02, 2 January 2013 (UTC)

Regiones militares[edit]

Un saludo.--Manuchansu (talk) 01:42, 1 May 2013 (UTC)

File:Coat of Arms of the 73rd Air Defence Artillery Regiment.svg[edit]

Searching for some svg elements i have found your excellent images. My question is more of a technical than artistic kind. I wondered what caused the enormous size of those files >10MB. It seems that the barrel element in many of your artillery CoAs is very detailed and and doubled. The original size of the barrel element is approx. 2MB as used in the Coat of Arms of the Spanish Artillery Academy. The barrel elements used in almost every other artillery CoA is of a size of 4MB each. My question is: isnt it possible to replace the smaller element or just use the undecorated as in the Emblem of the Spanish Army Polytechnic Engineers in order ton reduce the size and speed up downloads? For inspection i have made a CoA SIMPLE with 633KB of your Coat of Arms of the 73rd Air Defence Artillery Regiment with 8.2MB. What is the best way and use in the future? --Kölner sprinter farbig.svg maxxl2 - talk 10:18, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

--SajoR (talk) 20:22, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

File:Coat of Ams of Molina de Aragón.svg[edit]

Hi, Heralder. You do such an amazing work! Your portfolio is amazing! Anyways. I came here to comment on the coat of arms of Molina de Aragón. Not sure about your sources. Apparently you cited this which states it's bend sinister (not bend). Herrera Casado is based apparently on the description of the Real Academia de la Historia, which states even more clearly it's bend sinister, not bend. The hand is argent too according to the description.

I've changed therefore temporarily the coats of arms in the wikipedia articles of Molina to this file. Without entering artistic arguments or technical aspects (I declare myself a n00b in spanish heraldry and vector graphics), the version I uploaded (mantelado or entado en punta aside) I think it gets the blazon right.

Charles as Duke of Parma[edit]

Hello Heralder, I desire to congratulate you on your excellent works. Meanwhile, I point out to you that the name of "File:Coat of Arms of Infante Charles of Spain as Duke of Parma, Piacenza and Guastalla.svg" is wrong, because Charles was Duke of Parma and Piacenza and titular Duke of Castro. Duchy of Guastalla was joined to Parma under his brother Philip.--Il Demiurgo (talk) 14:34, 25 March 2013 (UTC)

Escudo de Ponce, Puerto Rico[edit]

Estimado Heralder:

--Panotxa (talk) 08:29, 9 April 2013 (UTC)

Hi, you'll see my reversions in a couple of your contributions in articles about extint emirates in al-Andalus. I did so because you added maps and symbols corresponding to the Crown of Castille age, so they correspond to different states and, in the catalan wikipedia, different articles, some of them not yet created, not even as desambiguation articles. I'll be vigilant, and if eventually been created (maybe I'll do that), i'll add the info. Thanks a lot. --Panotxa (talk) 08:29, 9 April 2013 (UTC)

Simplemente impresionante[edit]

¡Enhorabuena!

--Ignacio (talk) 22:20, 12 April 2013 (UTC)

Template:Spanish Kingdoms[edit]

I don't think this is the place for all the Castilian subkingdoms. Only independent (at least at some point) entities should be listed, not administrative divisions, otherwise the template will be a useless mess again. Zhmr (talk) 21:30, 14 April 2013 (UTC)

Toledo was there before my edits, so was Viguera. Since it is only two of them, I left them in (and put them in brackets to indicate a 'sublevel'), but now it is too much. I think that, in relation to my latest revision, it's preferable to decrease the number of states, instead of increasing it. Can we agree on this? The criteria from my first comment? Zhmr (talk) 20:35, 14 April 2013 (UTC)

How about this:

Kingdom of Asturias · Kingdom of Navarre · Marca Hispanica

Kingdom of León (Kingdom of Galicia) · Kingdom of Castile · Kingdom of Aragon

Crown of Castile (Castile-León) · Crown of Aragon (Principality of Catalonia · Kingdom of Valencia · Kingdom of Majorca)

León is a problem, since it was independent before it became a part of the Crown of Castile. Zhmr (talk) 21:16, 14 April 2013 (UTC)

Coat of Arms of the Kingdom of Bavaria[edit]

I know that your focus is on peninsular heraldry, but almost all of the elements of the Coat of Arms of the Kingdom of Bavaria (1835–1918) have been created, mostly in your Coat of Arms of Prince Ferdinand of Bavaria. This would include the mantel and compartment from several of your works, as well as, the Bavarian Royal Crown. The exception would be the four heraldic orders around the shield, which I cannot identify. Do you happen to have a source with the official blazon of these arms, including the orders, and would you have an interest in rendering the complete arms themselves?

By the way, your work is exceptional.--Glasshouse (talk) 01:26, 25 April 2013 (UTC)

Cordial saludo, --Macucal (talk) 11:31, 26 April 2013 (UTC)

Saludos y a comienzos.

Empress[edit]

I've done the lesser arms for now, File:Lesser Coat of Arms of Empress Victoria.svg. I'll have a look at the original Imperial coat of arms of Germany file, to see if it can be decreased in size, so the mantle loads better. But first I'm going to wade through Sodacan's new Belgian and Dutch uploads, and adjust my old files accordingly. Lemmens, Tom (talk) 10:27, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

File:Arms of the House of Visconti (1395).svg[edit]

Just letting you know that I did a major touch up of the Biscione. If you prefer the old version, just revert it. :) Lemmens, Tom (talk) 14:25, 27 September 2013 (UTC)

AYUDA POR FAVOR[edit]

Response[edit]

I'm typing this on my rather slow smartphone at university. I'm not good at this nor do I know where I'm posting this on your talk page, so I'll keep it short. I suggest you contact a admin like Fastily, who handles stuff like this. He restored the eagle iirc, and you can refer to that. Even if there are other elements that do infringe, I'm sure something can be worked out. Lemmens, Tom (talk) 11:35, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

Now that I'm at a pc, I'll add to this. I understand you changed these recently? Ask what element was infringing. That would give you some idea. I really think a notice is supposed to be left on your talk page. I hope that's reason enough to at least let you recover files. On a lighter note, I just adore that grotesque eagle from the Codex Manesse. And are those new imperial crowns from scratch, or based on Katepanomegas' work? Might be wise to properly attribute it in the latter case. (Perhaps misattribution was a reason?) Lemmens, Tom (talk) 21:58, 1 October 2013 (UTC)
Since it indeed goes back to the singular escutcheons (containing only the traced eagle, of which I know the source, and Sodacan elements), I've contacted Fastily myself. Lemmens, Tom (talk) 08:49, 2 October 2013 (UTC)

Gracias[edit]

Great Collars of the Two Siciles Orders[edit]

Can i ask you to draw each Order in a single file. This way is easier to see and appreciate yuor amazing work on the order of the Due Sicilie. Thanks in advance.

Albert II[edit]

Hello Heralder,

I love that you're uploading the arms of the Holy Roman Emperors. But concerning the Arms of Albrecht II, I doubt that he wouldn't include the arms of the Empire in his coat of Arms. He reigned for a very short period, so there's not much information about him. It seems doubtful however, that we would only have used the Arms of Bohemia, Hungary and Austria. His arms here seem far more likely, considering the arms of Roman-Kings who ruled in the same period, like Ruprecht of the Palatinate (file:Rupprecht III. von der Pfalz.jpg).

Greetings, Sir Iain (talk) 23:41, 2 October 2013 (UTC)

Saludos. --Williamsongate (talk) 20:44, 14 October 2013 (UTC)

RE:HRE Armorial[edit]

But we still don't know what was wrong? There hasn't been a decision at all? SanglierT seems to have proven that another set of files were falsely deleted. This lack of transparency is really troubling.Lemmens, Tom (talk) 15:36, 12 October 2013 (UTC)

I have cleared one of my sandboxes: User:Adelbrecht/Orthodox heraldry. We could perhaps use that page to sort out which revisions need to be deleted, so we can offer Fastily a presentable list? Lemmens, Tom (talk) 12:23, 13 October 2013 (UTC)
Yes, the order is a clear infringement. It was also traced by Katepanomegas long before the other elements. I assume that it had been incorrectly uploaded as a public domain file, as often happens on this wiki. Shows how important it is to show your sources whenever something is traced, even if it is seemingly public domain. :-/ I'll be replacing some of my files as well, for which I need the dark rocks. I'll see what you come up with. Lemmens, Tom (talk) 12:56, 13 October 2013 (UTC)

plagiarism[edit]

Mr. Heralder as you perfectly know, the eagle and golden fleece chains and pendants you are using clearly come from my book. My illustrator is formal : though you have rearranged parts of his works, it is still a plagiarism. And it is illegal. Please stop that. Alessandro d'Oria.

The eagle originates from File:Vogtherr Wappen Karls V.jpg, which is quite likely the same base your illustrator used for that eagle. The single-headed eagle used by Heralder is also a clear derivative of that double-headed eagle. Any similar element is shared with File:Vogtherr Wappen Karls V.jpg. Lemmens, Tom (talk) 12:30, 13 October 2013 (UTC)
To retrace the pattern of tracing: the collar was traced for use in this file: File:108 Croÿ-chièvre.png, without any sources given. It is however likely that the illustration was falsely uploaded to Wikimedia Commons as a public domain file. The eagle appeared much later, and was explicitly linked to File:Vogtherr Wappen Karls V.jpg. Neither element was traced by Heralder, however. Allow Heralder the time to remove the infringing orders. Lemmens, Tom (talk) 12:39, 13 October 2013 (UTC)

As you have shown no intention to cooperate, I will contact my lawyers as soon as I'll be back in Italy. Alessandro d'Oria

Mr. d'Oria I have been thinking better about your drastic message, author rights have no discussion. This project is open but without clear managing it won't have future. I have realized that in a Doubtful dispute author rights are Preferential. I am sorry. ALL IMAGES WITH THE EAGLE HAVE BEEN CHANGED AS YOU DEMAND. THE COLLAR OF THE ORDER OF THE GOLDEN FLEECE IMAGES HAVE BEEN DELETED BY ME THE DAY THAT YOU ASKED FOR A SECOND DELETION. I have realized that I can't confirm that the image has been taken from an older model Vogtherr Wappen Karls V.jpg, this is the main argument of my position but in spite of this, I know I can't deny you the propiety of a really closed design.

I also send a message to User:Fastily [10], the person in charge of the Copyright violations and discussions. I have asked him to eliminate the historial so, nobody can reuse the image (I can do it because I am only a user. It is possible that the protected image will be shown by the cache memory, it is provisional and other users can't download this older file. Thanks --Heralder (talk) 06:10, 17 October 2013 (UTC)

Revision deletions[edit]

I've cleared my files of the order, and sent them to Fastily for revision deletions. I've already sent a batch of your files, those without the eagle, as well. As for the rest of the files, depending on your wishes, you can list all the infringing revisions, or could ask just to keep the most recent revision. Lemmens, Tom (talk) 13:10, 13 October 2013 (UTC)

Okay, I've sorted it out and sent it to Fastily. Lemmens, Tom (talk) 17:03, 13 October 2013 (UTC)
Ah, great. :-D Lemmens, Tom (talk) 17:12, 13 October 2013 (UTC)

RE:the author wants deleting the HRE Files[edit]

Firstly, we aren't even sure that this is the author. Secondly, The feathers of the wings are similar because it is quite clear that the artist used the same source. I'm even quite sure that the Order is based on another source as well.

It is the "author" who has shown lack of of cooperation. He suddenly shows up, unable to name the illustrator, instantly knowing the Wikipedia tagging process, has a changing IP just like the Katepanomegas trolls, ... Lemmens, Tom (talk) 07:20, 17 October 2013 (UTC)

Evidence: He used an open proxy. Now blocked. This is all very suspicious. Lemmens, Tom (talk) 07:27, 17 October 2013 (UTC)
I agree with Tom. Dodn't be intimidated. Sir Iain (talk) 11:15, 17 October 2013 (UTC)

A new eagle[edit]

A new eagle might indeed be the best solution, if only to decrease all the people that have to be attributed. The Katepanomegas trace also isn't fully symmetrical (which, on a related note, excludes it being based on a single-headed eagle). We could make a new file perfectly symmetrical if we work with the cloning tool from the beginning. That would also keep the filesize down. Wings, legs and tail should be separate elements to make them fit better to the shield. Colourization cues can be taken from the Katepanomegas eagle, and also Sodacan's Austrian eagle.

I suggest that as a first stage, we could go through Wikimedia Commons and search for all clear PD-Old depictions of the eagle of the Holy Roman Empire. We could then sort those out by place of origin and date, and then synthesize something out of it. In any case our design process ought to be well documented. Lemmens, Tom (talk) 20:30, 17 October 2013 (UTC)

I've gathered some here, feel to add some yourself: User:Adelbrecht/Eagle Lemmens, Tom (talk) 20:47, 17 October 2013 (UTC)
Ah, Fox-Davies, he seems to use the same source as well. The little curl in the tongue seems to have been popular.
I suppose that it might be best to create multiple eagles for multiple time periods. At the very least a 15th century and a 16th century version. For the 15th century, the only good source we have is the Wernigerode armorial. The one from Colmar might be from a later date, and is a CC picture. I can start work on the Wernigerode eagle, outline should be simple. For the 16th century, we have a wider variety to choose from. Lemmens, Tom (talk) 17:23, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
Hmm, the tabard seems to be both 17th and 18th century. Was it perhaps reused? The description is a bit unclear about it. The bulkier design seems to fit the most for the period. One thing though. You've recreated the Imperial Crown. Copy it and save it to a different file. I think it's supposed to be one of these two on that coat of arms. Lemmens, Tom (talk) 18:28, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
Seems about right, but I'd take a contemporary design for the second design. The one by Dürer is from the same year Charles V succeeds. I have a rough trace of the Wernigerode eagle:

Link On the left the original composition, and on the right a composition that fits the shield better. I think adding a curl or two to the head, and smoothening the wing would make this an interesting design. All of this before adding feather details and shading, of course. Lemmens, Tom (talk) 19:39, 18 October 2013 (UTC

The original design is File:Wernigeroder Wappenbuch 023.jpg, and it's a bit messy. The date is 1475–1500, so it's actually second period, but the only one that hasn't been touched up by later artists. This armorial is interesting because it contains a transitional form of heraldry, from the gothic to the classical. At the moment I've added a few curls on the head, and I'm touching up the wings, making their proportions better. Just wanted to show you what it originally looked like. :D You can go ahead with detailling once I have uploaded the retouched version. Lemmens, Tom (talk) 20:07, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
Test.svg I've been very 'conservative' with the curls, but feel free to add more. The armorial's depiction of the King is here: File:Wernigeroder Wappenbuch 024.jpg. Only the neck differs here, so it's very good to work with. Basicly this armorial bridges the Chronica Majora and the Vogtherr design. Lemmens, Tom (talk) 20:18, 18 October 2013 (UTC)

RE: File:Test.svg[edit]

Looks good. I'll just restore the cloning, that saves space. I've been able to reduce your 6 MB to two times 33 kb! :D

Is the eagle from Bridgemanart a contemporary design? The Dürer portrait is from much later, so it's safer to give that lesser importance. What you say about the crowns is very likely: the armorial is somewhat of a trendsetter, the example given on Wikipedia is: the papal arms are shown with the keys of Peter crossing behind the shield, a fashion which only gradually became adopted by the popes themselves during the 16th century. So it's safe to ignore that element, I suppose.

Maximilian I indeed doesn't really fit with either, but making a design only for him is perhaps a bit wasteful. The Dürer portrait is from the year he died. Hmm. File:Wgt Stifterbüchlein 08r.jpg is earlier, but barely visible. Lemmens, Tom (talk) 08:54, 19 October 2013 (UTC)

Hmm, the Codex Manesse is already very early 14th century... The 14th century Gelre armorial can be as use as well. Perhaps we ought to combine features from File:Shield and Coat of Arms of the Holy Roman Emperor (c.1200-c.1300).svg and the Wernigerode eagle? For Maximilian, I suggest we'd wait till we have a final design for Charles V, we could perhaps mix and match. Lemmens, Tom (talk) 11:58, 19 October 2013 (UTC)
Of all the sources we have, Vogtherr remains the clearest. Perhaps I ought to do my own trace of it, and then detail it similarly to the Katepanomegas trace, without actually copying anything. That way we'd be surest to guarantee both high quality, historical accuracy and something we can without a doubt link back to Vogtherr. It will, of course, be a difficult work. Lemmens, Tom (talk) 15:06, 19 October 2013 (UTC)
The doubtful part of the Katepanomegas trace was the tail-feather. Lemmens, Tom (talk) 18:09, 19 October 2013 (UTC)
The difference in symmetry of the heads is exactly the same in the source. I can really best stop, because I'm just reinventing the wheel now. I'll look a different source. Lemmens, Tom (talk) 18:29, 19 October 2013 (UTC)
Do you think this one would work? File:Wappen karl v.jpg Lemmens, Tom (talk) 18:39, 19 October 2013 (UTC)

Ah, yes, my time is shortening as well with my weekend coming to an end. Sir Iain has pointed to this file: link. The shape is clear, it is similar to Vogtherr and yet also distinct. It's from the right time, clearly identified as Publieke Domein (Public Domain). Of the file I mentioned earlier, I had already traced the heads of the supporter, which were the clearest. They can still be of use when we require an eagle as a supporter.

Looks great. Lemmens, Tom (talk) 13:57, 21 October 2013 (UTC)

I've got time to work again now, but I'll have to spend it on a quick recolorization of File:Heraldique meuble lion rampant gelre.svg, because of some issues. On the brighter side, this can be of use in our project. Lemmens, Tom (talk) 09:05, 23 October 2013 (UTC) Progress is going good with the eagle. I have completed the basic outline now. I will try to add details and colourization based on the tapestry itself. Lemmens, Tom (talk) 14:12, 25 October 2013 (UTC)

A teaser. The escutcheon hides the fact that it has no body. :-P Lemmens, Tom (talk) 15:09, 25 October 2013 (UTC)
Wow, it looks great! I'm really looking forward to using it ;-)! Sir Iain (talk) 16:10, 25 October 2013 (UTC)
Test.svg The shading is not finished, and it lacks a body. It's obviously not fit to the escutcheon either. Not sure how to add more shading to the head. Lemmens, Tom (talk) 19:59, 25 October 2013 (UTC)

I've finally had the time to work on it again. I've reproportioned it to fit the shield. I haven't made a body, because Charles V always used an inescutcheon anyways. Lemmens, Tom (talk) 10:31, 9 November 2013 (UTC)

Guardia de Asalto[edit]

Hola Heralder.

Hi there. Would you be willing to make the coats of arms of the members of the Order of the Seraphim seen in this DR? Most of them already have the necessary components on Commons and just need to be put together. It would be a shame to loose all those coats of arms because the photos need to be deleted. It's ok, I understand you were busy. I tried contacting several users but nobody responded. I just wish we could have saved the content even though the photos had to go. We do have the collar, and for example Nelson Mandela's coat of arms was the South African flag in the shape of a shield, and the King of Thailand was the Garuda, so probably 90% of them have free content on Commons and could be made into copyright-free SVGs. The closing admin said they would be willing to temporarily undelete the files so we can make SVGs, but I need someone willing to do them before I can request that. Thank you, that does help. And as I mentioned, I can get the photos undeleted temporarily. The problem is I can't make any of them myself, I don't have the skill. I need someone else with better SVG skills who can. Fry1989 eh? 01:17, 15 December 2013 (UTC)

Languedoc-Roussillon[edit]

Hello,

Since 2005, the arms of coats of Languedoc-Roussillon has changed. The 'logo' inside the arms of coats you provide is the old 'logo' of the Région Languedoc-Roussillon (was put in place in 1988).

I have designed a new arm of coats here with the (not so) new logo: Region_of_Languedoc-Roussillon_(ARMS).svg

The problem is that a lot of wikipedia pages use your file and are thus updated. Could you change your file by mine (or create a new one based on the new logo if you prefer to do original work) ?

It will be a very time consuming task to contact every wikipedia site and do the edits there.... :-(

Thanks for your help and your great work !!! (I'm a fan ! :-) )

They're looking very good. One thing, though: do the official armorials depict the fullest versions of the coats of arms? The set might look better if the middle versions were selected instead, omitting the mantle. I'll redo former Queen Beatrix's arms to conform to the new look. Concerning the Holy Roman Empire, I've been quite busy with university, but I should have some time now. I've got a few weeks off for studying, and that takes a lot less time than commuting and following lectures. Lemmens, Tom (talk) 17:57, 21 December 2013 (UTC)

Coat of arms of Duke of Parma as Spanish Infante[edit]

Dear Heralder, let me congratulate you for your great job.

I'd like to see, if it's possible, a representation of the Coat of Arms of the Duke of Parma as Spanish Infante (the same way as for Don Carlos, Duke of Calabria, you have made two coat of arms: as an infant of Spain as a pretendant to the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies).

I'm a great fan of don Carlos Hugo of Bourbon-Parme, the last Duke of Parma, a man that never achieved that his dignity of infant Spain were recognized. In the unlikely event that Carlos Hugo and his wife, Princess Irene of the Netherlands, had been recognized as infants in Spain, how would have been their coat of arms?

Coat of arms, Order element[edit]

Hello, I was wondering if you could upload to wikipedia (if possiable) the image of either the collar or the ribbon'd image (similar for orders to this [File:Order of the Garter in Heraldry.svg]) for british and commonwealth orders such as, the Order of Merit, Order of the Bath, Order of St Michael and St George, Order of the Companions of Honour, Order of Australia, Order of the British Empire, New Zealand Order of Merit and the Order of Canada. The recently added images added to the Order of the Garter page such as [File:Coat of Arms of Edwin, Baron Bramall.svg] suggest the requested images might exist somewhere, many thanks. 210.56.66.131 07:33, 30 December 2013 (UTC)
