Goodies, tips, and tricks

You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

What is the ultimate source of the footage used in this gif? I don't think it matters that it was extracted from a permissively licensed intermediary who was using it for (possibly fair-use) commentary. @Einsof: NBC News is a news organization capable of taking its own footage. The video was uploaded on the exact same day as the perp walk occurred and there was no standard news agency watermark (AP, Reuters, AFP, etc.), as well as the fact that it was released on the official NBC News channel (not an affiliate). Given all of this, without further evidence, it is a fact that NBC News made this video and distributed it freely. If you have evidence that NBC News did not make this footage, then it is up to you to show so. Howardcorn33 (talk) 12:03, 19 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

Did you remove the watermark by hand, or did you use of the AI watermark removers? I uploaded a bunch over the years. The early AI watermark removers were terrible, and the better ones were behind a paywall. RAN (talk) 01:07, 20 November 2025 (UTC)Reply

You've asked for deletion of File:Lowell Birrell (cropped).jpg on the basis that the copyright in Family Weekly from 1963 was renewed, but I don't think that's correct. You've linked to the copyright registration, as demonstrated by the title page of that volume saying "1964", but what you want is the renewal. Based on a search on [1] I think the renewals for Family Weekly stopped with the issues published in 1957, so the 1963 edition may well be out of copyright. --bjh21 (talk) 23:31, 16 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
