Hello! Last year you contributed to Wiki Loves Monuments 2018 in the United States. Thanks to people like you it was a great success, with over 1,900 people contributing over 10,000 photos of cultural and historic sites from all over the country. Hundreds of these photos now help illustrate Wikipedia articles, improving our open knowledge about United States history, culture, and heritage. If you haven't seen the winners yet, be sure to check them out here.
I'm pleased to say that we're back this year with Wiki Loves Monuments 2019 in the United States, and I'd like to welcome you to participate once again in the event. Check out our updated event page for more information. Just like last year, you'll be able to upload your photos of any registered historical site in the United States through the end of September (even if the photos were taken before this month).

September 30th is the last day to upload photos for Wiki Loves Monuments! We're thrilled that the United States has almost reached 4,000 contributions so far this year. Of these images, ~370 (~9%) have already been used to help illustrate Wikipedia articles and pages on other wiki projects, which is fantastic.
If you've already made a photo contribution this year, thanks so much! If you have any last-minute photos of U.S. historical sites to upload and enter into the contest, today's the day to do it. Check out the United States event page for more information. Judging will take place throughout the month of October, after which the top-ten national finalists will be announced in early November.

First, a recap: We concluded with over 5,200 great photos of U.S. historical sites made possible by contributors like you. If you haven't yet seen, last year's U.S. winners are viewable here, and the international winners here (including multiple from the United States!).
Second, as you may have seen from the banner notices on Wikipedia, this year's Wiki Loves Monuments 2020 in the United States has been running through October instead of September in consideration of the pandemic and the hectic start of the fall season. Despite the challenges of the year, we're thrilled that the United States has surpassed 5,000 photo contributions so far.
October 31st is the last day to upload photos for the U.S. competition this year. If you've already contributed, thank you so much - and it's great to have you again this year! If you haven't yet contributed but are interested in participating again, you're invited to join us during these last couple days. Check out the United States event page for more information. Your probably right that they are different people. Maybe create a category Category:Arthur Livingston (publisher) or something to put the images in though. Thanks! Hi,
I did want to apologize for marking the file Parque de Colon - I had no idea that it was located in Aguada and it's a very interesting fact. The park is always advertised as being in Aguadilla. Was it in Aguadilla at one time?. So for now, the file has category: Aguada, Puerto Rico and Aguadilla, Puerto Rico because obviously it should be in both. But the Aguada park subcategory was deleted. Do you have any idea why the Aguada municipio border is so unusual? Is it to include the park within its borders? I think the municipality of Aguadilla paid for the park, but the river separates the two municipalities and it is on the Aguada side. Many years ago Aguadilla tried to annex this but nothing came to it. P. Hughes (talk) 08:22, 28 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
The cross in that picture was destroyed by the earthquake (and tsunami) of 1918. The monument was rebuilt many years later in the current location. I will try to post an old postcard of that first monument in the future. P. Hughes (talk) 18:42, 16 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

When you want to ask for speedy-delete of an empty category, best practice is to mark it with {{SD|C2}} if it would be OK to re-create it in the future, given that appropriate content becomes available or {{SD|C1}} if it is an inappropriate category name that should not be reused. In particular, this is better practice than just blanking the category page, as you did at Category:St. Mortiz Hotel, Miami Beach. ("C1" and "C2" come from Commons:Criteria for speedy deletion). Hello,
I use an Epson V600 scanner and scan at 300 dpi. Then I use Photoshop Elements to clean up any imperfections and sometimes I "save for Web" which resizes the image to 72 dpi. P. Hughes (talk) 11:30, 14 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

I'm not an expert on this by any means but from what I understand if your doing scanning for print it should be 1200dpi in Tiff format. You can't really print jpeg images well no matter the dpi because of how it compresses images though. But outside of that 600dpi is clearly better then 300dpi for the web. Although the scanner takes longer and file sizes are slightly larger. I thik its worth the trade offs for something like a postcard though. Otherwise normal documents are probably fine in 300dpi. I also want to highlight what an incredible turnout we had. In the second round, we saw a massive jump in both the number of users voting and the total votes cast. We had exactly 13,979 votes cast by 3,509 users! To put that in perspective, last year we had 7,403 votes from 2,837 users. It is amazing to see that level of growth and community engagement.
