Natura 2000 cats[edit]

Salut, please, don't continue moving (empty) categories of Natura 2000 as you did here, since we are using those as a help to find a proper category later on. The target category Natura 2000 in Spain is too generic. Thanks! 14:12, 21 June 2015 (UTC)

@Poco a poco: OK I'll stop. But I recommend that you could begin to import them into the generic Category:Natura 2000 in Spain, in order to allow them to be found, and avoid them to appear as to be categorized into Special:WantedCategories. And in a second time, a bot could precise this category by scanning it, and when finding {{LIC|ES2410064}}, it would be able to modify it. Or you could modify {{LIC}} to categorize in function of its parameter. JackPotte (talk) 14:20, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
Could you bring them back? The issue here is that we don't know whether the LIC code is right and we're reviewing all of them. You've simply created a lot of extra work with no real gain for anyone. --Discasto talk 16:04, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
YOU'VE REMOVED THE CATEGORIES FROM THOUSANDS OF FILES!!!!! WAS IT THAT DIFFICULT TO ASK FIRST? HAVEN'T YOU NOTICED THAT YOU'VE DESTROYED A CAREFUL CATEGORIZATION WORK!!!!!!
Yes I can simply edit Template:LIC to create a review list, but I would proceed accordingly to Commons:Naming categories. @Discasto: but obviously you didn't get my points above: revoking the current classification as you're doing now is splitting the images to review, and will be exposed to call again the maintainers of Special:WantedCategories and Category:All_media_needing_categories_as_of_2015 in a few hours. JackPotte (talk) 16:15, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
You could have simply asked first. Your solution simply does not work. The issue here is that a third of the categories have been already reviewed. Modifying the template would simply make us to review again one third of the already reviewed categories (and we do have a list, thank you: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category_talk:Images_from_Wiki_Loves_Earth_2015_in_Spain/categories). Why don't you do productive work instead or ruining other people's work? Again, can you revert your pointless editions (we're meaning about 3500 files that have been stripped of its category)? --Discasto talk 16:20, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
Again, can you revert your editions? Or just enjoying creating useless work for other users? --Discasto talk 16:25, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
Actually there isn't any manual way to revoke me at this scale. And when you write irrespectively "useless work", you're not responding to my explanations precisely. JackPotte (talk) 16:26, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
I've just checked Category_talk:Images_from_Wiki_Loves_Earth_2015_in_Spain/categories and I've noticed that I wasn't the first maintainer to treat it, as it could have been predictable, because it would be much simpler if these names was conform to Commons:Naming categories. JackPotte (talk) 16:32, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
We have had to stall all our review process thanks to you. Again, what are you planning to do to fix your miscues? --Discasto talk 16:37, 21 June 2015 (UTC) PS: incidentally, we talked to the person you mentioned and he understood the case very well. Here, you've removed categories from 3500 files without asking or trying to know what's going on. So, again, how are you fixing your pointless editions?
We should finish this conversation into the the community page you've used. JackPotte (talk) 16:43, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
Given your unwillingness to fix the mess you've created, I'm just regenerating the categories and categorizing images again. Our team is stalled until the bot finishes working and you've proven to be the typical bureaucrat that totally disregard other people's work. That is, just the opposite of what should be expected from a collaborative project. You're not only removed the categorization of 3,500 files but also refused to sort your vandalism out. And last, but not least: stay away of WLE Spain businesses. --Discasto talk 21:22, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
OK, I don't want to disturb you anymore since we couldn't find any agreement to integrate this work. JackPotte (talk) 21:45, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
Well, the work was already integrated and you "dis-integrated" it. No fixes, no excuses, no apologies...: en:Wikipedia:Wikipedia is a bureaucracy --Discasto talk 22:13, 21 June 2015 (UTC)
Actually I've apologized into the community page and proposed to install myself several consensual fixes, you didn't even envisage to change your singular method. JackPotte (talk) 22:17, 21 June 2015 (UTC)

Is there Sanbox in Wikimedia commons?[edit]

Dear JackPotte! I' am writing you because you are the author of File:Lang-en.gif, File:Lang-ru.gif and others. I would like to make something like this. And I have question: is there something like Sanbox here for my experiments? Thank you in advance. Hunu (talk) 19:20, 3 October 2015 (UTC)

I used Easy GIF Animator for those, no need to use a sandbox here because the work is done locally, before uploading. JackPotte (talk) 19:28, 3 October 2015 (UTC)

Welcome, Dear Filemover![edit]

Commons File mover.svg

Hi JackPotte, you're now a filemover. When moving files please respect the following advice:

  • Use the CommonsDelinker link in the {{rename}} template to order a bot to replace all ocurrences of the old title with the new one. Or, if there was no rename-request, please use the Move & Replace-tab.
  • Please do not tag redirects as {{speedy}}. Other projects, including those using InstantCommons, might be using the file even though they don't show up in the global usage. Deleting the redirects would break their file references.
  • Please know and follow the file rename guidelines.
