Ishikawa Diagram

The diagram I uploaded was deleted for want of licence details. I am unable to upload a new one even when I pick the licence info from the pull down menu . --Prabhachatterji (talk) 12:31, 13 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi, as you added a license tag to File:Ishikawa Diagram .png before deletion, I undeleted the file now. The deleting admin seems t have missed that. --JuTa 20:43, 13 September 2013 (UTC)

Help with licence

== {{Autotranslate|1=File:IdaHolz.jpg|base=Image license/heading}} == {{Autotranslate|1=File:IdaHolz.jpg|base=Image license}}

Yours sincerely, JuTa 22:28, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

Sorry, I didn't know how to include the licence. The image is from Flickr, so it's under Creative Commons and admissed, or not?
Ida Holz in Flickr
What would be the correct info to include in the license?
Thanks, --Elulene (talk) 12:46, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
Hi, I'm sorry, but this license is not accepted on commons. Its no commecial and every image on commons has to be reuseable fo anybody fo any pupose incl. commecial usage. regards. --JuTa 20:46, 13 September 2013 (UTC)

Help for licence again

For File:Portrait d'homme.png, is the licence OK now ?

Thank you, --Jacques Ballieu (talk) 15:57, 14 September 2013 (UTC)

Currently not realy. Accoding the desciption page the painting is made 2013 which is far less than 100 years ago. The author is the painter, not the auction where you got the image from. We would need who is the artist and if he died more than 100 years ago to be able to decide if the license is oK or not. regards --JuTa 16:04, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
And now ? --Jacques Ballieu (talk) 17:05, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
Its now up to you to find out who the painter was and when that person died. After that correct the desciption page. Otherwise the image will get deleted after one week. regards. --JuTa 17:07, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
I dont't understand very well. The painter is Alexis Leon Louis Valbrun (Paris, January 3, 1803 – Paris, 1852) (see English Wikipedia).

Not realy, the license template was still missing, but I corrected that now. regards. --JuTa 22:09, 15 September 2013 (UTC)
Thank you. Sometimes the books themselves seem to have had some pages removed, and this seems to have been one of them, so I wasn't sure how to proceed. Now I know what to do for similar problems in the future, so thanks again. John Carter (talk) 22:21, 15 September 2013 (UTC)

License Manuel Murguía

I have added the license tag. Thanks by the notice, bye! --Elisardojm (talk) 10:04, 16 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi, the image File:Manuel murguia.jpg would need a verifyable source, not only "transfered from wikipedia". Otherwise you riskthat somebody will doubt the PD-old is valid and raise a DR. --JuTa 19:19, 16 September 2013 (UTC)

about NŠ MURA file

Hello, I'm aware that I didn't write where I got the image, and the copyright, I did so on purpose, because I didn't upload the image correctly and I want the image deleted, so if you could delete all my uploads please, because I didn't upload the correct ones.

License issue for a book cover

Hi JuTa The image I uploaded is from public domain. I am not sure what I selected wrong while uploading it. This image is on and on the author's website. The author/publisher has no problems with it. Please let me know what need to be done in order to keep it on the wikimedia commons. Thank you. Rachel — Preceding unsigned comment added by Racheltaylor26 (talk • contribs) 2013-09-16T21:05:24‎ (UTC)

Hi, the copyight holder of this book cover has to document his release to a free license by mailing to the commons support team. For details see Commons:OTRS. PS: The "license template" {{Non-free book cover}} leeds to speedy deletion here on commons. The file will be deleted soon if you dont change it. regards. --JuTa 21:13, 16 September 2013 (UTC)

Images File:Sara Schätzl 1.jpg and File:Sara Schätzl 2.jpg

Hi, as already discussed with User:Jcb the person from whom I received the images I uploaded can not produce the permission which shows she got the copyright from the photographer. Therefore these photos should be deleted asap and someone finds the time to do it. Thanks. Optimale (talk) 09:19, 17 September 2013 (UTC)

Why was my art deleted?

Please explain why you deleted File:Mackitosh of Mackitosh arms.svg and MacGregor_of_MacGregor_Arms.svg ? I created these a while back using Inkscape. My user page: User:Czar_Brodie has all my creations listed. You can see from these that I use appropriate tags and always link art that is on the commons and was used in the pictures I created. If these were not their I can only think that a user inadvertently removed them. If I have been doing something wrong please inform me. Please also restore my art. Both those images took a great deal of my time and was done per requests on Wikipedia Scottish Clan Pages. Yours ever, Czar Brodie (talk) 05:33, 19 September 2013 (UTC)

I answered on your talkpage. regards. --JuTa 07:14, 19 September 2013 (UTC)

Why ASCI red images were deleted while other images of the same ASCI red from the same page were not deleted? is this some kind of hobby? why this file is fine: and this file is not: ? they are coming from teh same sourcce, from the same page, from the same agency - US Government? what kind of stupid joke is this? Alexkachanov (talk) 22:37, 19 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi, I didnt marked them as "no source", that was User:Turelio. I didnt deleted them, that was User:Fastily. Why are you talking to me? You may like to raise an Commons:Undeletion request, but try to watch your language when doing this. regards. --JuTa 07:11, 20 September 2013 (UTC)

deletion on VP

Hi- It looks like you deleted the IP's question on French hiking trail categories without explanation. Maybe I'm missing something here, but it looked like a good-faith question. I've certainly seen stranger queries land on VP. Wouldn't it be better to let it stand or to offer a suggestion of a more appropriate forum if you think it is misplaced? Permission gained for my two images

Hello JuTa. Copyright permission has been sent to OTRS by the copyright holder for File:Humphrey Southall.jpg and File:Vision of Britain homepage 2009.jpg, although it took longer than anticipated. Can the images be restored? Thank you in advance for any help, MartinPoulter Jisc (talk) 12:41, 23 September 2013 (UTC) Apologies, by the way, for not adding in the OTRS-pending tag. I thought I'd done so at the time. MartinPoulter Jisc (talk) 12:45, 23 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi, I restored th files and tagged them as "OTRS pending", even though this is not the standard method in such a case. The standard answer would have been: 'Please wait till OTRS staff decided this case. If everything checks out OK the will undelete the files.' PS: If you know the licenses the copyright holders like to publish the images, please update the decription pages accordingly. There are currently just no licenses. --JuTa 19:09, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
Thanks very much for doing this and for helping me understand. MartinPoulter Jisc (talk) 16:41, 24 September 2013 (UTC)

Photo Deletion Appeal File:Reba Toney.jpg

On September 18, 2013 you deleted my photo File:Reba Toney.jpg. At the time, I was new to Wiki Commons and misread what Wiki was asking me to do. I thought that I had to add all sites where the photo could be found. The photo taken is personal property that has been used as publicity multiple times. How can I go about appealing the photo deletion? Step by step instructions would be helpful. Thanks :) A.stuartchambers (talk) 19:26, 24 September 2013 (UTC)

You have to try to contact the copyright holder, which is normaly the fotografer and not the model, and ask him/her if he/she likes to publish the foto under a free license. {{cc-by-sa-3.0}} is recommanded. If he/she agrees he/she has to send an email to the commons support team. For details see Commons:OTRS. regards. --JuTa 07:20, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

Hello JuTa I really don´t understands what do you say in File:Percy-jackson-and-the-olympians-logo.png, something about don´t eighth information and I have to put it, something like that.

I knew putting photos on Wikipedia and I don´t know a lot of this, but can you do me a favor and put the thing that upset if I give to you the information of the picture.

Is the "Logo Percy Jackson & the Olympians" series of the author Rick Riordan and this is the logo of that series publisher with the books. I putted that photo because I didn´t exist in Wikipedia and I know that they are going to deleted it. For that reason I read to you if you can help me can I use Wiki Commons or put this information in File:Percy-jackson-and-the-olympians-logo.png

Please and thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tonys99 (talk • contribs) 2013-09-24T21:48:55‎ (UTC)

Hi, the first problem is that there is ust no license template on the file description page. {{cc-by-sa-3.0}} is recommanded. For details see Commons:Licensing and Commons:Copyright tags. The second problem is that this is not your work, so you cant grant a free licns for it. Only th copyight holder can. Commons will need a written permission by the copyright holder. He has to send an email to the commons support team, for details see Commons:OTRS. regards. --JuTa 07:29, 25 September 2013 (UTC)

File:Artur Petrosyan 01.jpg

Dear JuTa. This file, uploaded by me on 27.09.2013, is made more than 10 yars ago. And the author is really unknown, so I can't get the license. This image is all over the internet and I'm sure that there is no district license for this image. The same is for File:Shirak Team 1999.jpg Can you help how to improove these images and use them RoubenH, 27.09.2013

Hi, I'm sorry, but thats not the way it works on commons. you would have to provide a source where the images are explicitly licensed under a free license by th copyright holder, which is normaly the fotografer. And images are protectd i most countries not for 10 but for 70 years after th authors death. So. in som cases much mor than 100 years after creation. regards. --JuTa 19:14, 27 September 2013 (UTC)

You recently deleted Image:Kosmo.JPG, an image that has been in use for years in a number of wikibooks. However, apart from the indication that it was without licence as of april 2013, which I cannot check but would be a bit strange for a file that has been on commons for a number of years, I cannot find any information about the deletion request/discussion, origional uploader etc. The link to the deletion request is a red link! Can you please provide me with as much information as possible, so I can either try to contact the original uploader, find a replacement, or start an undeletion request. KKoolstra (talk) 12:11, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi, the deletion was ot realy recently but in April, but anyhow: The original upload happend in 2006 by User:Amrrfr without any description, source o license. Some othe users added {{free screenshot}} and some categories later. In April a Bot marked it into Category:Media without a license: needs history check because there was syntax error in the "free screenshot" template. I corrected that and marked it as "no souce" because the still was no souce within the descrition and deleted it 9 days later as nothing was corrected. It was a screenshot out of a software, and the GPL license was hopefully correct, but the underlying map and/or satelite image didn't looked like they are free as well. regards --JuTa 04:14, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
So I understand that this file has been around for 8 years without it being questioned. Then someone questions whether a part of it is indeed copyright free and it is deleted after just 9 days??? 9 days? And that without informing the projects using this image? Do you really think that in 9 days, without noticing the users of the image, there is any chance that anyone would check this out? Do you understand that writers of wikibooks put a lot of effort in finding the right illustrations. Of course it can happen that an licicing error is detected (far) to late, but at least we might expect that first some time and effort is put into finding out whether indeed the complete image is copyright free. I could understand the procedure for files that have been uploaded recently or that are not in use, but this is really something differen!
BTW, can you give a reference to the deletion discussion, you forgot to link to it in the deletion log so I can't find it back. KKoolstra (talk) 08:08, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
Hi, You understand completly right. That is the normal method. The uploader gets informed but not any other projects. There was no deletion request discussion. The image was marked with {{no source since}} which makes the images eligible for speedy deletion after 7 days - compare Category:Media without a source. If it is a free software, licensed under {{GPL}} it shouldn't a big deal to reupload a similar image correctly licensed and sourced (for you or anybody else). The maximum I can offer to you is to temporarily undelete the image an renew the problem tag. That woul give you another 7 days to find a comprehensible source and correct the dscription file. regards.--JuTa 08:17, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

Copyright status: File:Flag of the Nordic Council.svg

You have marked the file for deletion, but I do not see it listed in any deletion request pages. Do you think that it should not be discussed? Did you read the previous discussion? I think, it was decided to be {{PD-textlogo}}. Should I just add that template and remove your {{no license}}, or something else should be done? — Mikhail Ryazanov (talk) 01:34, 2 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi, well, the DR was not clearly decided as {{PD-textlogo}} in my eyes, but it has been decided as keep. So I now applied this license template now and removed the problem tag. regards. --JuTa 04:21, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
OK, thanks! — Mikhail Ryazanov (talk) 04:29, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

Problems in Javanese script categories

Hi JuTa,

I've recently categorized pictures such as File:Javanese ba.svg to only be placed in Category:Javanese SVG letters. But they are still present in Category:Javanese alphabet even after I purge the page. Is there something I miss? Also, I have a request to make.

In Category:Javanese alphabet, some of diacritics such as File:Suku mendut.png and File:Wulu.png are shown without indication of their position to a letter and they are far larger in size compared to the letter. As they already have counterparts which show this qualities, such as File:Jawa Suku.png, I propose them to be deleted.

Some of the file names in the category are not standard. In the category, all name begins with Jawa. Also, some has wrong names, such as File:Jawa Aee.png. The letter is for transcribing "eu", and it should be File:Jawa Eu.png. If possible, I would like to rename them. Some are terribly alike and one of them should be deleted I think, such as File:Jawa Adeg Adeg.png and File:Pada adeg-adeg1.png.

If it's not too much of trouble, I will show which file is which. Thank you... Alteaven (talk) 14:45, 2 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi, lets sort your problems case by case:

  • The categorisation comes from the Template:JG Aksara Jawa, which is added a source, a license and this category automaticly. You might like to talk to User:MissMJ, who added the automatic category in 2011. If you remove that, you should go through Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:JG_Aksara_Jawa and check every single image if this category should be added manually then.
  • If you think some files should be deleted you can raise a deletion request - compare Commons:Deletion policy#Regular deletion. But I dont think your arguments would be considered as a valid reason for deletion.
  • If you think a file should be renamed you could request this by adding the template {{rename}} to it. For the detailed usage of it: see the documntaion within the template. An expierienced user with the appropiate rights will check your requests and rename th files if the reasons are valid or decline the request if not.

regards --JuTa 04:44, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

Thank you JuTa, I have followed your instructions and are waiting for the result. Meanwhile, I also thought that Category:Javanese alphabet is misleading, as Javanese is not an Alphabet. Category:Javanese letters is more appropriate, but it is stocked with Javanese letters using "Hanacaraka" font (as well as Category:Javanese numerals and Category:Javanese pasangan letters), while Category:Javanese alphabet is stocked with letters using "JG Aksara Jawa" font. Would it be possible to combine those categories into:
>Javanese letters
>>Javanese letters using hanacaraka >>>numerals >>>pasangan letters
>>Javanese letters using JG Aksara Jawa
something like that? I'd like to know, thx. Alteaven (talk) 10:34, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
Yes, either you can start a discussion about the item(s) - see Commons:Categories for discussion. But its ot very "crowded" there, and it could take weeks or months until a case gets commented or decided. Or, if you feel your changes would be uncontroversial, you could start to recatgorise the images yourself. But in this case you have to ensure that you don't leave orphans behind. You should check each image in each category carefully an modify the catgories accordingly. And if you change the template above yourself have a deep look at Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:JG_Aksara_Jawa and check an correct every image using the template. regards --JuTa 18:03, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
I think it's pretty uncontroversial, all files should still be present in the end. So should I just make new category and move the files there, then delete the old category? Alteaven (talk) 22:29, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
Yep, then go ahead. But if you get complains, stop immediatly. Finaly you should put {{speedy}} to the old, obsolete categories. regards. --JuTa 22:36, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi JuTa,

füge doch einfach bitte per flinfo die Lizenz nach. Die Templates hier werden oft leicht übersehen und haben k(l)einen Nutzen. --McZusatz (talk) 20:27, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

Was ist denn flinfo? --JuTa 20:29, 3 October 2013 (UTC)
flinfo. --McZusatz (talk) 22:35, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

The original file, File circular scan was created by Poule using Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 . Hi, I don't understand what exactly you like to tell me with the link to the talk page. But this looks pretty much like a derivate of en:File:Circular_scan.PNG.
