File:EightTNOs.png[edit]

Hello,

the image File:EightTNOs.png needs to be updated to include the newly discovered TNO 2007 OR10, which is probably larger than Orcus. Also, Quaoar's moon is missing. Could you do these changes? --129.70.15.51 15:51, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tip: Categorizing images[edit]

Hello, Lexicon!
Tip: Add categories to your images

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

Uploadwizard-categories.png

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Crest of the GG of Canada[edit]

Hello,

I revert your edit for the crest because the originally crest is based directly on the Governor General of Canada's own website: www.gg.com & [1], but if you still like the version you uploaded may I suggest you upload it as a stand alone variant? Anyway thanks for your contribution Sodacan (talk) 23:39, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File:Habitable zone-en.svg[edit]

Pay attention to copyright
File:Habitable zone-en.svg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.

The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.)

Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

File:Flag of Taliban.svg[edit]

Hello. What is your source for changes you did here? This source (by Jaume Ollé) noted that the ratio is 1:2, according to a Taliban representative abroad, like a version of User:Denelson83. The official site of the Taliban, posee una different big shahada, but with the design of Saudi Arabia, which you criticize.--Falerístico (talk) 19:49, 3 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Some weeks ago, i emailed Volker Preuß, site maintainer of http://www.flaggenlexikon.de. He told me that the shahada ist not the same like the saudi-arabien one, but rather similar to a Variant from Yemen. But, anyway, you should not care about such details like ratio, fonts or color shades in afghan flag, there are to many variants--Antemister (talk) 18:09, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Anyway, I think the Taliban flag should be in ratio 1:2, both the white field as the shahada. I have a version as well. I do not know what you think of the change.--Falerístico (talk) 14:11, 19 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading File:Nunatsiavut flag.svg. I notice that the file page either doesn't contain enough information about the license or it contains contradictory information about the license, so the copyright status is unclear.

If you created this file yourself, then you must provide a valid copyright tag. For example, you can tag it with GFDL to release it under the multi-license GFDL plus Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike All-version license or you can tag it with PD-self to release it into the public domain. (See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of license tags that you can use.)

If you did not create the file yourself or if it is a derivative of another work that is possibly subject to copyright protection, then you must specify where you found it (e.g. usually a link to the web page where you got it), you must provide proof that it has a license that is acceptable for Commons (e.g. usually a link to the terms of use for content from that page), and you must add an appropriate license tag. If you did not create the file yourself and the specific source and license information is not available on the web, you must obtain permission through the VRT system and follow the procedure described there.

Note that any unsourced or improperly licensed files will be deleted one week after they have been marked as lacking proper information, as described in criteria for deletion. If you have uploaded other files, please confirm that you have provided the proper information for those files, too. If you have any questions about licenses please ask at Commons:Village pump/Copyright or see our help pages. Thank you.

File:Map of Celtic Nations.svg[edit]

Hi, I just noticed that a map you uploaded was changed by another user, so that the Channel Islands are now shaded as though they were traditionally part of Brittany (rather than Normandy), while the Shetland and Orkney islands are now not shaded on the grounds that they were Pictish but not Celtic (sic). I wanted to bring this to your attention so that, if you disagree with this edit, you can revert it. Solidarity, QuartierLatin1968 (talk) 18:01, 13 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Flag of Acadiana Image[edit]

Hello,

Smithsonian Folkways Recordings are currently in the process of developing a new series of curriculum materials (called Smithsonian Folkways Learning Pathways) for educators (mostly music and social studies educators). These unique resources place recordings from the Smithsonian Folkways collection at the center of the learning experience. These will be FREE resources for all educators, everywhere. Each learning pathway is a curated musical journey through a historical, cultural, or musical theme (e.g. Music of the Chicano Movement; Sounds of the Civil Rights Movement; Cajun & Zydeco Music; etc...).

As part of these learning pathways, we are creating interactive student slideshows that will help teachers facilitate learning experiences in any educational environment both in-person or online. We wanted to let you know that we will be using the 'Flag of Acadiana' image seen on your Wikimedia Commons webpage. We are planning to use the image for our 'Cajun and Zydeco' learning pathway. We know that the image is under the public domain, and we will make sure to give you the credit for the image.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

Gisele Hernandez, Smithsonian Folkways Recordings — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gishernan (talk • contribs) 16:07, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Commons Autopatrolled.svg

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. 4nn1l2 (talk) 10:13, 21 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
