Hello LivelyRatification, the following content you uploaded violates one or more of our policies and therefore has been or will soon be deleted:

File:Carmel Ripper countback.ogg

The Wikimedia Commons (this website) only hosts media files with a realistic educational purpose and that can be used for any purpose, including:
  • use in any work, regardless of content
  • creation of derivative works
  • commercial use
  • free distribution

See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons, and Commons:Image casebook for some specific examples. Some other Wikimedia projects have different licensing policies. For example, the English Wikipedia allows fair use of sounds and photographs. This is not the case on Wikimedia Commons; "fair use" materials are not acceptable here.

Please make sure that you only upload educational content you have created yourself, those which are out of copyright, or those for which you have the required permission for the work to be used in all the ways described above. Please note that derivative works of copyrighted material are also considered copyrighted. Again, please read through Commons:Licensing, which is quite crucial, to understanding how Wikimedia Commons works. Thanks for your contribution, and please do leave me a message if you have further questions.

These things happen. Don't stress over it; we've all done it. Schwede66 09:31, 25 May 2021 (UTC)Reply
Pay attention to copyright
File:Foreign dignitaries attending the 2025 China Victory Day Parade (cropped for Daniel Andrews).jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.

The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.)

Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

@TarnishedPath: Why did you nominate this for copyright violation and not the image it is derived from also? I didn't pull this off the AFR, I saw the image had been uploaded as a free-use image as it was posted by a nation's government (which it has, see here), and this site's copyright notice says all images uploaded are under CC BY 4.0. LivelyRatification (talk) 12:28, 11 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
@TarnishedPath: I have seen that this image has been removed (probably ought to have changed it from a speedy tag to a regular tag, but I suppose I didn't realise just how speedy speedy deletion was). I have nominated it for undeletion at Commons:Undeletion requests/Current requests#File:Foreign dignitaries attending the 2025 China Victory Day Parade (cropped for Daniel Andrews).jpg. LivelyRatification (talk) 20:20, 11 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
The reason I didn't delete the image it was derived from was because I was just about to leave the house to go to a movie and I missed it. Regarding the statement from Azerbaijan's government I don't trust it. I've seen a number of occaisions other countries, which have little respect for copyright doing similar (e.g. Russia). Azerbaijan's statement contradicts copyright attribution made in the AFR story. TarnishedPathtalk 00:20, 12 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
Ps, when URLs are provided in CSD nominations, that is not an accusation that is where you got the image from. You having advised me of the image it was extracted from, it is clear that's where it come from. However that doesn't make the image clean for usage.
