Tip: Categorizing images[edit]

Hello, M.Komorniczak!
Tip: Add categories to your images

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

Uploadwizard-categories.png

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Renal Corpuscle.svg[edit]

Hello. I'm making one/some images of glomerular pathology using you Renal Corpuscle.svg to start out with. All my changes will be in the public domain. Do you approve if I make the entire image(s) in the public domain or would you like me to point out that your work is Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Unported? I recognize the benefits of a share alike license, but as a intellectual property abolitionist I do everything public domain.

Sorry, this image is licensed (CC3.0 Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Unported) and modifications require Attribution and Share Alike this license. Sincerely, MKomorniczak -talk- 15:21, 22 February 2010 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Prader Scale[edit]

Hi Michal,

I really like the amazing work you've done on the Tanner scale diagram here - it's absolutely perfect :) I'm currently working on an article on the similar-ish "Prader Scale" - see w:en:User:Alison/Prader scale which is an endocrinological article relating to genital differentiation in utero and genital presentation in newborns. This is of interest to subjects like congenital adrenal hyperplasia, complete androgen insensitivity syndrome, partial androgen insensitivity syndrome and general article on intersex conditions. The article is coming along fine, but it really, really needs an illustration of the seven stages conceived by Dr. Andrea Prader. Would you be willing to provide an illustration to go with this article? I would really really appreciate it if you could! :) Examples here, here and here Thank you *so* much!! - Alison 00:00, 18 June 2013 (UTC)Reply[reply]
