Parliament building of Benin[edit]

Greetings,

I saw the picture mentionned in the subject on the Benin page as well as Porto-Novo page. And it is written that it is the siege of Benin Parliament. Please, note that this is wrong. The building name in French is Palais des Congrès which can be litteraly translated as Palace of Congress, but its purpose is just to host events like seminars, conference and meeting. Benin Parliament siege is the "Palais des Gouverneurs" in French. And it is located in Porto-Novo, not Cotonou. Since i'm not used to editing wikipedia articles, I think i might let you know so you can correct this.

Best regards

Gildas Jr.

Photo of inside of Cappella Palatina[edit]

Hello, Magnus.

Would it please be possible to have your permission to use your photo of the inside of the Cappella Palatina, specifically the one that shows the upper wall and part of the stalactite ceiling? I am writing a book on Norman Sicily and would really like to use this as the composition is so unusual. Thank you.

The Vernaccia pic[edit]

Hi, my name is Marco. I just would like to tell that the pic uploaded in the Vernaccia article it is not a Vernaccia from Sardinia, but (as stated on the label on the bottle) is a Vernaccia di San Gimignano. These two wines are quite different. I think the caption should be corrected. Best regards

image on wikipedia entry for margaret cavendish[edit]

Hi Magnus,

The image you uploaded on the Margaret Cavendish page in Wikipedia does not represent her. According to her biography, Mad Madge, it is an image of Mary Lucas, her sister. Is it possible to remove it? It is misleading as is. This is the link to the image: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Margaret_Cavendish.jpg

Thanks!

please delete this picture, it's of me and i can't figure out how to delete it[edit]

Mislabel leading to Embarrassing Situations "Patch Adams at Sarvodaya.jpg"[edit]

Hello Magnus, My name is Derek Busby, and I am the assistant to Dr. Patch Adams. I am writing to you because the picture entitled "Patch Adams at Sarvodaya" has been incorrectly labeled. This picture is actually of Dr. Bowen White: http://bowenwhite.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/IMG_3774.jpg . While Drs. Adams and White are both amused by the mix-up, this picture has been used on several wikipedia pages (Spanish and Italian at least), and has been picked up by fans who came to believe this was a picture of Dr. Adams. We now have T-Shirts and a statue which feature the image of Dr. White, which have been presented to Dr. Adams--much to the confusion to all those involved. So, I would ask that you please edit this picture to reflect the reality that this is an image of Dr. Bowen White. Thank you. -Derek

maximale Länge (Zeichenzahl incl. Erweiterung) für Dateinamen auf Wikimedia Commons[edit]

Hallo Magnus Manske,

File: 1964 Ghana Young Pioneers[edit]

Hello Magnus,
I am doing a PHD on Ghana Young Pioneers (among other things) and found your photo by Wieland Koerbel: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:1964_Ghana_Young_Pioneers.jpg
Could you indicate me where you found it (in which database/archive center), please? I am very interested in anything related to this youth movement...
Besides, if I understood correctly the licensing policy, I am free to use it to illustrate my PHD. Best regards,
Claire
(Hope the English is OK, I am French...)

Hi, someone (User:Ireas) used my tool to transfer the image. I know nothing whatsoever about the image. --Magnus Manske (talk) 17:18, 2 July 2015 (UTC)

image request[edit]

Hi Magnus,

I saw this photo of the Taufbecken in der Marienkirche Segeberg (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marienkirche_(Bad_Segeberg)#/media/File:Marienkirche_Segeberg_Bronzef%C3%BCnte.jpg), may I perhaps use this image for an article I am writing on the subject of baptismal fonts in the Schleswig-Holstein province? If so, do you have it in high resolution?

Yours,

Bieke (biekevdmark@gmail.com)

Hi Bieke, as the source page indicates, the image is by Benutzer:Quoth on German Wikipedia. --Magnus Manske (talk) 15:54, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for the bot! But now I'm here[edit]

Hello Magnus. Somebody used your bot to put a lot of my photos from Flickr in the Wikimedia servers. The thing is that I've just joined Wikimedia and would like to know if there's a way to re-credit those images so they include my actual user name. The bot used "Eneas de Troya", which is the pseudonym I use in Flickr, but here in Wikimedia Commons I'm using EneasMx. So, is there any way to do that? --EneasMx (talk) 03:00, 25 July 2015 (UTC)

Hi EneasMx! The only way to do that would be to delete the images, and re-import them, which would likely be overkill. I would try adding your user link to the "author" field, after "Eneas de Troya". Don't be surprised if an admin comes along and asks you to verify that you are the same person. And before you ask, no, I don't have a way to do these edits by bot, sorry. --Magnus Manske (talk) 13:30, 27 July 2015 (UTC)

Permission to use a photo or whom the author was[edit]

Mr. Magnus Manske~ I am interested in a photo of shell middens that you ave posted and am wondering if I can recieve permission to use the photo or know with whom the author was. The picture is: Shell midden stratigraphy, Cemetery Island, Fadiouth, Sénégal (west Africa) 1982 (3123813092).jpg. I wasn't sure if you or Mr. Andreas Praefcke uploaded the image. I believe the original author was John Atherton 1982. Thanks!

Jackie Dexter

Dear Jackie, the author of the image is "John Atherton" (Flickr page), as can be deduced by looking at the row that says "Author: John Atherton". However, as the license is CC-BY-SA, you do not need permission from the author; just attribute the image to "John Atherton, CC-BY-SA-2.0", maybe with a link back to Commons or Flickr if possible. --Magnus Manske (talk) 08:46, 28 July 2015 (UTC)
