Hi Majorly, sorry to let you a post in the wrong place. I'm just new on this. The question again: The logo put at the TM-XML definition was removed from Commons by you giving as a reason in the history that it is unfree. The logo was created by us at OHIM (European Office for the Harmonization in the Internal Market) and haven't issued any copyright restriction, in fact the TM-XML is an open standard initiative that welcomes to everybody to use and participate on its development ... what or how should we do to have it rightly? I had a look at the wikipedia logo guidelines definition and didn't see what to do. Thanks! Antonio Grau 15:25, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What was the image file? (e.g. Foo.jpg) Majorly (talk) 14:07, 26 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The image file was TM-XML_Logo.png angrau 9:44, 27 October 2007 (UTC)
Hi, there was no permission listed. We need explicit permission from OHIM to confirm that that the image is freely released. Please see Commons:OTRS, and email permissions-commons [at] wikimedia.org from the company email address. Thank you. Majorly (talk) 13:52, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikiball[edit]

Imagine a sphere. Draw on it a small circle. Now draw a great circle through the center of the small circle and erase the part of the great circle inside the small circle. How is the preceding enough to allegedly infringe copyright? I would have thought that the elements as described would have fallen under {{PD-shape}}, just as the first subdivision of a Sierpinski triangle does. --Damian Yerrick () 03:10, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:DotA 6.49 Game in progress2.jpg[edit]

Good morning, are you joking about deleting Image:DotA 6.49 Game in progress2.jpg ? Do you mean it really ? It is a screenshot, on the screenshot is name of the host, there are 3 screenshots and every screenshot have same host, it appears from this that host is author of all screenshots. Host am I, i cant understand why are you doing this work about deleting and posting reasons and other things about that, if autor is perspicuous, of course that screenshots are free - noncopyrighted.

No, I'm not joking. Even if it was of free software, no one could have known as there was no information to tell me. Feel free to reupload accordingly with the essential information required. Thank you. Majorly (talk) 22:53, 29 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. This image is a copy of en:Image:Wendi deng murdoch christopher peterson.jpg, released by en:User:Christopherpeterson under a {{Cc-by-3.0}} license. Christopher Peterson also maintains the http://www.christopherpeterson website linked to as the image source. Although on that website he lists this image under a {{Cc-by-nc-3.0}} license, it is still well within his right to release that same image under a less restrictive license at the English Wikipedia and, by extension, the commons. The discrepancy between licensing is easily explained by the fact that Peterson is a commercial photographer, and may not be inclined to announce on his website that he offers images under a free commercial use license on Wikipedia. Despite this, I think there's a clear basis for keeping the image, and I would like to urge you to reconsider your deletion. ˉanetode╦╩ 23:02, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The image is not freely released, and said so on the image. Majorly (talk) 09:36, 31 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I want my images back[edit]

Hi Majorly, I have not checked my pages related to Modern Sculpture recently. To-day I noticed that images from Niki de Saint Phalle sculptures where deleted by CommonsDeLinker on September 25, 2007(I suppose on your request):

  • Image:Saint_phalle_hannover1.JPG
  • Image:Hannover_nanas1.jpg
  • Image:Saint_phalle_hannover2.JPG

Can you please explain me why these images, which are obviously taken in Germany, are copyright violations. You should have read this line on the Niki de Saint Phalle page/article before you took this drastic action: "Pictures taken in several countries (at least taken in Germany and Switzerland) are ok by freedom of panorama. Please check before deletion" I believe you also deleted the Zurich (Switzerland) image. Why, oh why??? Sorry for my late reaction. Greetings--Gerardus 11:37, 1 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Majorly, can I please hear something, anything from you--Gerardus 15:19, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I missed your message. Undeleted them, Majorly (talk) 19:01, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Majorly, thanks a lot. But can you reopen Category:Nana by Niki de Saint Phalle as well?--Gerardus 07:30, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Majorly, I found 2 out of 3 images mentioned above, but not: Saint-phalle_hannover1.JPG. I also checked the nl-wikipedia pages and miss image:Niki_de_Saint-Phalle_Nana_on_Dolfin,_Den_Haag_juni_2003.JPG (Netherlands also f.o.p.). From the Swiss image in Zurich I even don't know the filename. What a mess. Admin:Siebrand gave me some hints how to do the Delinking, but honestly I don't understand a word. Help me. Greetings--Gerardus 10:52, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I missed Saint-phalle_hannover1.JPG, that's restored now. There has never been an image called Niki_de_Saint-Phalle_Nana_on_Dolfin,_Den_Haag_juni_2003.JPG on Commons, so I don't know how I can help :( Majorly (talk) 18:31, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Majorly, with your and admin:Siebrand's help most of the images are back on their places. With you I wonder what happened to "Nana on Dolfin". You can find on nl:wikipedia Article:Niki de Saint Phalle : History 25 sep 2007: the line notifying the Users that this image is deleted with CommonsDelinker on your request. May be this information is of any use in our search for this image. Greetings--Gerardus 09:14, 9 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This image was deleted because it was orphaned. I'd like to use it for en:Iraqi insurgency. Could be you so kind and undelete it? If you want to reach me do so at en:User talk:Victor falk. Thank you--Victor falk 04:21, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The image was a copyvio, and so I cannot restore it. Majorly (talk) 18:27, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Empty image pages[edit]

Hi. A few days ago you deleted a bunch of "empty image pages" ie. image pages where the image doesn't exist but the page still has content. All the /overlay.kml subpages were used by Commons:Geocoding/Overlay and the images that link to those pages. I undeleted them now, but is there anything that could be done to prevent this in the future? Looking at your deletion log, a couple of other subpages seem to have been deleted as well. Please share your thoughts on Commons talk:Geocoding#Geocoding of Maps as an overlay. --Para 12:53, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Feel free to undelete all the subpages. I'll ensure they aren't on the list next time. Majorly (talk) 13:42, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Roman Czyborra.jpg[edit]

I had restored the image because the reasoning for deleting it was not given. The user had been present at German meet-up(s ?) in the past and clearly gives his identity, so the reasoning for deleting (possibly underaged) was not given. I therefore restored the image that had been used in the German Wikipedia'a article Mann, see here. I restored the image, even knowing that the user has been banned indef. in the German Wikipedia, at that time I did not know about the block at en.wikipedia, though. I don't know whether blocks should be carried on from other wikipedias to Commons, e.g. User:Mutter Erde has done some good contributions here but is blocked indefinit at de.wikipedia. --Matt314 20:54, 6 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

...for withdrawing your b'crat request. I have no doubt that you would have used the tools well, and admire your wisdom in reading where the consensus would have gone (another sign of a good 'crat). If we find ourselves in a situation where too many of our 'crats are MIA, I hope you'll make yourself available when the need is great. --SB_Johnny | PA! 19:41, 18 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I really think Commons could do with another crat. I only withdrew because it was brought up I don't interact with the community and processes enough - which is true, I don't. I think another, more experienced user should put themselves forward - or let me nominate them, as Commons could do with another. Thanks for your confidence in me as well, it's much appreciated. Madrid-MetroLinea10.png[edit]

Hi.

I am new to W.Commons, but just wanted to inform that the image "Image:Madrid-MetroLinea10.PNG" has been removed by you. This image is the pictogram for Line 10 of Madrid Metro. It seems that there are some required data missing, but the data could be taken from any of the other images belonging to the same serie (changing the number from 1 to 12) because all other eleven are still into Commons and were not deleted, so I guess they must fulfil the requirements. I am not the author of the image but I have participated in some of the pages where this image is supposed to appear. I would like to ask you if you could undelete the image and taking the missing data from "Image:Madrid-MetroLinea11.PNG", for instance.

Many thanks in advance. --Torrales 15:13, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sierra Sam Pictures[edit]

Hello. I am User:Nerdi from the german wikipedia.

I just noticed that some pictures concerning "sierra sam", the first crashtest dummy ever, were deleted because of lack of license information, permission etc.

my commons talkpage lists some of the images, but i don't know it that's all there are/were about that topic.

I asked the image-uploader in the english wikipedia, User:Denni, to clear the license status (here). He answered "I contacted Dr Gary Enever, the author of the article, for permission to use the images. He gave me full permission to use them in any manner I saw fit. I think a gfdl tag would be appropriate, if that's what you want to do. Denni 68.148.192.21 17:39, 24. Mär 2006 (CET)" (here).

This means there should be a permission to publish the images in the wikipedia, they were according to user:denni in fact emitted to the public domain by their author Dr. G. Enever.

I hope this fits for a rehabilitation of the images? If you wish to answer, please do so here.

Image:Alterman.jpg[edit]

This image was deleted from the Commons after you found it was missing essential information. I may be able to provide that information, but I don't know what it was, because I can't see the image or image description.

The picture is of Israeli poet Natan Alterman (1910 - 1970). It was taken about 1952, and is therefore in the public domain according to Israeli copyright law. It is in the possession of the Kfar Saba Municipal Museum.

The picture was used in the Wikipedia articles on Alterman, and in the article Music of Israel. I was unaware that it was a candidate for deletion, otherwise I would have stepped forward right away.

Is there a chance of getting it back? Tnx, --Ravpapa 08:04, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
