In Germany Canis lupus communis is recognized as subspecies and we don't want to miss it on the map we are using for German articles. The map is in the public domain. May I suggest to you, that you make an own upload of your reworked version for your purposes and use it in the articles you are responsable for. Then everybody will be content. Also about the wolf map, but two question. Firstly, I think the addition of subnational borders is unneeded; it makes the map too "busy" and can be difficult to see at the small size. Especially since the map isn't that large to begin with. A larger version without subnational borders I think would serve the readers better. Secondly is the classification of the wolves in the west end of the Great Lakes as part of C.l. lycaon instead of C.l. nubilus. I saw that you pointed to an Ontario governement web resource in your edit summary, but that URL gets redirected, and the apparent target is over a decade old. I'm not sure if it's a valid change.

Many of these recent changes to the articles seem to based on William Harris's reading of the major recent study about canid genomes. It seems to me that the situation in the ground is more of a continuum that distinct subspecies boundries. That the wolves on the west side of the Great Lakes have some coyote introgression, while the wolves on the east side have much more is telling. But what is most telling is that Minnesota and Manitoba have never been without wolves, unlike other areas on the west side of the Lakes. It's a complicated situation, and I think we need a firmer, more recent source to make that change. Oknazevad (talk) 16:04, 24 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi! I might use this map in en:Cheetah, and as I plan to take the article to FAC soon, the file description will have to be updated about the source and year of the data in the map. Could you please do that? Also, I am confused what to do about File:Cheetah range - 2.png; this map is a must for the article but there is no source or year data, and the uploader is inactive since years. Hello! I recently found two files uploaded by you (File:Dasyurus viverrinus Gould white background.jpg) and (File:Phascogale calura Gould white background.jpg). I believe they are derivative works, sos something like this edit would be a better fit for the Source parameter, but noticed they are also tagged as old works and didn't want to alter the licensing too much without speaking to you first. I wanted to ask if you were the author of them - in my opinion, it would be better to license them as CC0 works than keep the old works template, as the white background edits are new. Gray wolf (Canis lupus) map - Greenland

Nice work on the animal maps.
In the gray wolf map (File:Canis lupus distribution (IUCN).png) most is correct, but there's an error for Greenland. In Greenland, the species is found in the north and northeast, almost exactly the opposite of what is shown on the wiki map. The map on IUCN's page, used as its source, also shows this correctly (though their use of a simple Mercator projection map results in more distortion than the wiki map). Would it be possible to correct the wolf range for Greenland on the wiki map?

Hi Mario! In case you're not aware, there is Commons:CropTool which helps with uploaded cropped versions of existing images. It's nice because you don't need to download the picture and crop it locally. It also preserves the date the photograph was taken and automatically set {{Extracted from}} and {{Extracted}} templates.
