Welcome[edit]

Welcome :-) --Golden Wattle 03:33, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

Categorisation[edit]

Hi - as per a note to VirtualSteve, I am putting in a plea for some categorisation. I know the Riverina images will go on a town page and could therefore be regarded by default as categorised. However, for example Image:CarrathoolHotel.JPG could also be categorised under Category:Hotels in New South Wales. Similarly any court house image might be usefully categorised under Category:Court houses in Australia - feel free to make more meaningful cats or sub cats - especially as they are growing too large. You can navigate cats by clicking on the plus signs at Category:Australia. Categorisation makes the images more findable. I have visions of writing articles similar to w:Court houses in New South Wales for literary institutes, post offices, ... Public architecture and how it defines towns is really interesting to my mind but there are lots of themes to explore. --Golden Wattle 23:40, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

Hi again, also as per note to VS -

Because the categories Hotels in the Riverina and Court houses in the Riverina are sub cats of Towns of the Riverina, it is my opinion images in those cats don't need to be classified twice - ie classify in parent or child but not both places. Particularly since we have the image gallery pages to find all pictures relating to say Ariah Park or wherever. The sub cats allow to be more specific where appropriate - the galleries group the subject, in this case the town, together with meaningful captions and regardless of category.

Images tag[edit]

Hey Matt, thanks for your help in removing image tags on the Towns of the Riverina, New South Wales page. I will try and do some more today also. VirtualSteve 21:58, 5 February 2007 (UTC)

Commenting out the heading info[edit]

Great job! All but "M" now done. Cheers. --VS talk...images 20:23, 14 February 2007 (UTC)

Snowy Mountains Scheme[edit]

Hi - people who are on wikibreaks shouldn't look at their watchlists :-(

Could you please have a look at w:Snowy Mountains Scheme‎ ? There is a new user who has yet to be welcomed and perhaps given some hints + a tidy up is needed.

Thanks --Matilda (talk) 04:01, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Fair enough. I must be more disciplined about not looking. I have emailed VS as well to see if he can take a sympathetic and tutorial approach. --Matilda (talk) 05:37, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Railway structures[edit]

I am thinking also about categories here - way more relaxing as you said. I think there should be something for railway buildings (ie include station masters' houses too). Want to categorise Image:Gundagai railway station 2006.jpg for example. What would we do abbout silos? Regards --Matilda (talk) 05:37, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

I have created Category:Train stations in the Riverina for the time being as it aligns with a NSW parent --Matilda (talk) 05:51, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
I know you were teasing about the wooden RC churches but I do think the categories are fascinating glimpses into what the Riverina is like - looking at the images say at Category:Post offices in the Riverina it is like going for a drive - there are certainly differences but the flatness, the sky, the odd tree, the quietness - people aren't much in the pictures and I don't think that is just becasue we wait for them to get out of the way though there is some of that.
Not sure why you aren't classifying by the bond of the brick though :-) and there are definitely subtelties in weatherboard lapping but I have never heard them named.
Google street is really cool - yesterday I drove up and down our street, the street where my brother lives, the street where we holiday- it is really remote so they have covered a lot of ground. Regards --Matilda (talk) 07:35, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi,

No problem! Better then being lost forever! I know what it's like to lose photos which you can't really replace as I lost over 5gb worth of photos from the Northern Territory as I forgot to back-up my hdd which was killed by lightning. Bidgee (talk) 13:22, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

Dear Mattinbgn, I just saw your message on Giggy's page. Somehow I totally missed your message to me. I'm really sorry. Files have been going mysteriously missing lately. Tassie cats[edit]

I have a handle in wp.en on cats but hey not that sure of the commons variety - so thanks for some of the edits but, not sure whether a general western tasmania cat is better than others - cheers SatuSuro (talk) 11:28, 29 August 2008 (UTC) still crawling through past crimes so far - and trying to get the hang of commons - will probably start the west coast tas one if it seems legit once i get through checking my very very large iphoto archive :( SatuSuro (talk) 12:36, 29 August 2008 (UTC) I think i am on gnangarras and hesperians watch - they both admins here - suspect they have to cleanup regularly after my visits here :( SatuSuro (talk) 12:57, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

Been busy too?[edit]

BerriganHotel.jpg
BerriganHotel2.JPG

Looks like you've been busy[1]! Nice new camera BTW ;) Your first DSLR? Bidgee (talk) 11:18, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

Yep, wanted to test out the new camera a bit this weekend. Deni, like Corowa, has a lot of interesting buildings to try the new camera out on. Thanks, it is my first DSLR and I am still learning about what all the fancy buttons and dials actually do! Even set on auto, the difference is easy to see. Cheers, Mattinbgn/talk 11:30, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
You always have to use auto when you start out ;). Love testing out my DSLR seeing how I can push the camera even on old historic buildings. DSLR's are awesome for night photography but just watch for hot pixels (Not a lot you can do other then edit them out) when taking a long exposure (3 minutes + you start to see them). Also for Night photography get a cable remote (if possible) as the wireless ones I don't trust. you can also get filters such as UV, Polarizer ect but this use I hate the most is dust in the camera (Mirrors and sensor) and the only way to get it cleaned is to take it in a pay $$$$ :(. Bidgee (talk) 11:42, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

Bills troughs[edit]

Well I found it on a list online and went looking for it today for a photo but you also have another photo of it Image:YancoMainSt.JPG ;) Bidgee (talk) 08:07, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

You are more observant than me! I didn't see the trough when I took the picture and I didn't see any of the subsequent times I looked at the image! -- Mattinbgn/talk 08:18, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
I wouldn't say "more observant" since for 13 years (Lived in Leeton but not far from Yanco) I've been past that horse trough and never even questioned why was it located there and if it's historic. ;) Bidgee (talk) 08:35, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

Plane on a stick err pole.[edit]

No problem. Is the propeller still moving on the aircraft? I know back in the late 90s it was moving. Pity there is no water in the monument any more as it once did :(! Even this site (pdf file) uses the term "Gilder on a stick". Bidgee (talk) 10:31, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

Been busy again![edit]

Great photos of Ganmain and Matong! I was hoping of heading to Temora next weekend but the bus trip was canned. :S Do you have any knowledge about the Scouts? Trying to find out about the history of this Image:2nd Wagga Scouts Bottle Yard.jpg which we now use as a shed in the park to store stuff for the work we are doing there ATM. Bidgee (talk) 09:38, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

arr that explains the old bags in the building then.
I noticed the 2 Bills troughs. ;) Fair bit of driving alright! Other day I rode (On a push bike) on a dirt road (made a slight detour to the Sturt Highway) to Pomingalarna Reserve (Almost headed to San Isadore by 100m first but headed to the top of Mount Moorong) but I payed for it. My legs felt like jelly at the end of the day with a nice case of sun burn. Bidgee (talk) 09:56, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
Sure were! Was also a million fly's which wouldn't leave me alone. The Pomingalarna Reserve pics can be found here. Just a shame it wasn't a clear day (Clear-up when I got to Ashmont on the way back into the city :S). Bidgee (talk) 11:14, 9 November 2008 (UTC)
Ganmain, New South Wales is looking good now! Great work. :) Bidgee (talk) 11:07, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
Thanks very much. -- Mattinbgn/talk 11:17, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
Busy again I see! I must get traveling again one day but just haven't had the fund nor the motivation. I am tring to get more photos of Wagga (today's I wished I didn't do the walk from the City, Turvey Park, down to Glenfield Park back up to Turvey Park/Mount Austin then back into the City which took about 5 hours. Planning of heading out to the old Wagga Wagga Cemetery (Next to Rocky Hill on Kooringal Road) and then head to Lake Albert and complete some of the suburb. Bidgee (talk) 14:07, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
Five hour walk! That's keen. I passed through Junee, Wagga, Lockhart on Thursday and I am still trying to get all the dead locusts off my car! While the trip to QLD was fun, the real work will be in uploading the photos to commons. I think there is about 600 to upload in total. Enjoy your trip today. Cheers, Mattinbgn/talk 21:44, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
Keeps me fit though. ;) I've been waiting for those locusts which had there way into Wagga yesterday (Western side of Wagga the locusts are around Glenfield Park, City, Show Grounds and north plus east Wagga Wagga). To remove the locusts if you've got a high pressure cleaner (Such as a Karcher) and if it's got a section to add some car wash liquid get some heavy duty car wash which should removed it but may take sometime as no doubt the locusts have dried onto the car. 600 images! I upload a few then say to my self that I'll do the rest later which I seem not to do later (I had a lot of Darwin images when in Darwin but lost most of them some how. Should be a fun day to ride as it's cooler today and the wind is from the south so I shouldn't eat any locusts on my bike ride later on. Bidgee (talk) 23:55, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Biggenden, Queensland[edit]

Great photos Matt! Like the photo of Mount Walsh (Locals call it The "Bluff") and the township. I've only got photos of Mount Walsh (about the same area that you took your photo) and the campdraft near the town (I've been in the town but just didn't bother taking photo at the time). Love to see your photos of Maryborough (when you have a chance to upload them) which is a nice little city. Bidgee (talk) 21:42, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. I used to live not far (by Qld standards) from Biggenden and visited the town from time to time. I was lucky enough to get some good light there. I think the the post office is my favorite. Got some good photos of some lovely buildings at Maryborough but none of the river which is an oversight. -- Mattinbgn/talk 07:13, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
Cool! I also like the post office (Been past that so many times and I didn't get a photo!). Love that part of QLD (Highest place in QLD I've been to is Bundaberg). Did you get a photo of the big shopping complex in Maryborough? Don't worry I went over the Mary River (which was rather high at the time) twice and didn't get a photograph! Back to edit my locust filled images :S. Bidgee (talk) 07:22, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
I mainly was down in the historic precinct although I wasn't all that far from the shopping centre. Nice photo of the rabbit and locusts. The hoppers are thick as thieves here at the moment. -- Mattinbgn/talk 07:39, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
oh well doesn't really matter, I like the Maryborough City Hall photo. By the morning I don't think I'll have a lawn (not real green but they seem to like it) but was a pain riding a push bike in them! Bidgee (talk) 09:03, 4 December 2008 (UTC)

Nice pic's of the town of Maleny, Queensland‎! Lovely area that is! Think I've almost photographs every bit of Wagga (Not the villages and 3 of the outer suburbs) but I'll photographs the Fearnes/Busabout Wagga Wagga's fleet before the older buses are replaced and the others re-painted with the Busabout livery which is due to happen in the next 2 weeks but then I've got to head to Leeton for Chirstmas then hopin Melbourne in the new year (Late Dec or early Jan) at least then Perth in about April and somewere I've got to head to Temora, Photograph the outer suburbs and villages of Wagga and try and head to SE or N QLD by the end of the year (2009)! I don't know how you can do it and I'm 23 err almost the 24 (I feel old already) and find it hard to do all that traveling! I'll stop mumbling now! ;) Also Nice photo and seem it has more water then Swamp err Lake Albert! Bidgee (talk) 11:14, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

The Sunshine Coast hinterland and the Upper Mary valley are some of the best parts of Australia, although seeing all that green when it is so brown and bare here was a shock I must say. You have done a magnificent job on Wagga and it must be by some way the most comprehensive coverage of a regional city in Australia. I must admit, after the trip to QLD and back I had had enough of driving; it's a long way. I am looking at heading out to either the Western District or the Mallee/Riverland over the new year period, which should be interesting; I haven't been to either of those areas for at least 15 years. Cheers, Mattinbgn/talk 04:25, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
It was a shock for me when I went up there as back in 2005 all we has was dirt then up in SE QLD it was so green I thought I must be in the UK or N QLD!. Thanks I've tryed to get Wagga covered as much as possible since I don't have a drivers license (Never really needed a car until now but I'll only learn in a auto.) but I'll get the other areas covered one day. Bidgee (talk) 10:45, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
Well I was given last minute notice about Mike Kelly coming to Wagga for an announcement on the future of the Wagga Wagga RAAF Museum and today got some photos of inside the building (First time in 7 years that cameras have been in the building) and will be documenting as much as possible as some of my images of the return of the maybe used in the museum. Also will be getting help from Rebekah Holliday from The Daily Advertiser for articles to expand the museum article. Bidgee (talk) 12:15, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
Great stuff! I am pleased to see that the museum is reopening and great that you could get some photos for Wiki. Look forward to seeing them up and in the article. Plenty of rain here the last two days, I hope Wagga is getting some as well. Cheers, Mattinbgn/talk 12:19, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
Well it's been an article that needs work done to it like the Wagga Wagga Railway Station so it's great that it will re-open. Also found a war memorial at Forest Hill Public School and also found out the Wagga Wagga Aerodrome was located in the location that Fearnes Coaches/Busabout Wagga Wagga is located today so more work I'll have to do. I've recorded about 40mm of rain and I think the airport (about 9km away) got about 30+mm. Bidgee (talk) 12:42, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

Congratulations[edit]

Congratulations on getting your list completed! You've done better then me! I've got a list about that long thats not complete and has been that way since 2005 :|. I've almost got Ashmont, New South Wales completed but just got a few parks to photograph including one that I went past 4 times (and I forgot to photograph it :S) plus a few more parks, schools ect to photograph then I'll try and start on the Villages. I will be in Leeton (well just outside the town) for about 2 or 3 days so I'll try and get some photographs there as well as the little villages around the town. Bidgee (talk) 05:20, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Still about 20 or so images to upload in Category:Mundubbera, Queensland. Leeton is an attractive place so you should be able to get some good photos there. Not so sure about Ashmont(!) but your coverage of Wagga Wagga has been exceptional. Some of the villages are a decent ride away from Wagga so that will keep you fit! I will be out and about in Victoria over the break and will have the camera with me. All the best for Christmas! Cheers, Mattinbgn/talk 05:36, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
Ok not bad though. May ride some of the villages but not all of them. Just too hilly and deadly on the Highways! Use to live in Leeton but I'll get someone to drive me around so I don't get lost! :P Bidgee (talk) 05:56, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
Not really busy now but it's a bit late I know but I hope you had a Merry Christmas and hope you have a happy and safe New Year. Bidgee (talk) 11:44, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
Yep I had a happy Christmas. I did get some photos but not as many as I would've liked as I was busy but I have 2 more images to upload yet but I just got to fix them up. I do plan to head back to Leeton in the next few weeks. Whats your thoughts on the layout for Leeton, New South Wales? Bidgee (talk) 12:18, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

FOP tag[edit]

Hi. Thought you might like an explanation for my addition of a {{FOP}} tag on your picture. If you read through COM:FOP and COM:DW, pictures of statues, etc. are considered violations of the statue designer's copyright in some countries. Pictures of American statues are often deleted because of this. Since your picture is from Australia and Australia permits pictures of statues, you should be fine - I just wanted to add the FOP tag so no one tries to delete it anyway. —Wknight94 (talk) 15:25, 3 January 2009 (UTC)

thanks heaps![edit]

for your fantastic additions of categories to some of my cricket pics - it's much appreciated from someone who kind of finds it a bit hard to really get to grips with how to categorise appropriately (plus I was having trouble remembering who was who in many of the shots, sad to say!) - you might be interested in this post too :-) thanks again! Privatemusings (talk) 02:36, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

You have a blank.[edit]

Just noticed this in the Category:Buildings in the Riverina that File:AlburyA didn't upload and upload correctly. Bidgee (talk) 08:29, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

I've just marked it as {{speedydelete}} with user requested with the diff.. :) Sort of got stuck watching Storm Chasers and now I'm behind on my editing and uploading of my Canberra photos. Bidgee (talk) 15:11, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

Schools in Victoria[edit]

I stuffed up. :) Fixed now though. Just doesn't help being tired after the beauty of a storm we got yesterday afternoon. The back and front yard flooded even though I'm on a slight hill and also lost power for a few hours (Close lightning strikes and 115km/h winds does ;) ). The church on Kooringal Road got flooded and the drain/creek that flows past (now flows into) Lake Albert was full (2m deep) and running. I hope you have a happy and safe Australia Day. I'll be in the City (Wagga Wagga) for most of the day. Bidgee (talk) 12:24, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

Tottenham[edit]

Thanks for the compliments! My better half has family that lives in the town, so while it's pretty out of the way, I figured on my last visit that I might as well take some photos of all the sights in town. Figured it was an obscure topic that nobody else was likely to get to in the near future =). One of these days I'll use the photos to fill out the town article on enwiki, which certainly could use some more love. Lankiveil (talk) 04:10, 5 April 2009 (UTC).

File:Bill ponsford stance.jpg[edit]

The LIFE collection consists of images collected by LIFE magazine that they did not publish (hence, unpublished by them). The rights of those image are now managed by Getty Images. The LIFE link does not prove first publishing. Creation does not equate to publishing neither (the photo might have been kept in some storeroom or box until it appeared in Pollard's book). It would be better to point out an earlier publication that the photo appeared in. Jappalang (talk) 07:19, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

The "magic date" is any time before 1961 (Pollard's book). The publication, however, should not have renewed its copyright in the US (which Pollard had done). I suspect the best bet is to find a 1930s local newspaper that published the photo, but failing that, any Australian book or magazine between 1930 and 1961 that does not appear in either the US Copyrights Office records, or the Copyright Renewal Database are good to go. Note that finding it as a first publication in an uncopyrighted British publication would only result in the same consequence as Pollard's book but for a different reason (see: File:PonsfordCigCard.jpg). Jappalang (talk) 08:29, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Hi Mattingbgn, I have constructed a navigation (in the form of a list) to determine a work's copyright status in the US here. Jappalang (talk) 03:20, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Category:Coober Pedy, South Australia[edit]

So you're after the files in Category:Coober Pedy, South Australia to be moved to Category:Coober Pedy or is it the otherway round? Bidgee (talk) 11:03, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

IMO we should have Category:Place, State as those articles that have been disambiguated just makes it look messy however if there was no disambiguation ever needed for articles I would have just had it just Category:Place but thats just my opinion. Bidgee (talk) 11:22, 7 June 2009 (UTC)
I've moved and redirected Category:Coober Pedy, South Australia to Category:Coober Pedy. Bidgee (talk) 11:55, 7 June 2009 (UTC)

Hello,

I saw that you included this picture in a vineyard category, but where do you see the vines ? Teofilo (talk) 16:04, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

I can see the lines of vines. I think it's fine but maybe a Aerial view of vineyards category is needed? Bidgee (talk) 16:49, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
I can see lines of something. How can we be sure that these are lines of vines and not another plant ? Why not Category:Lavender fields , for example ? Aren't vines usually tied to stakes ? I can't see the stakes. Is it normal to see green leaves in winter ? Here in Europe, vineyards look like File:Tailledesvignes.jpg in winter. For example here's an example of an Australian vineyard in winter. Teofilo (talk) 21:48, 13 June 2009 (UTC)
Actually, looking carefully at this other picture from the same Flickr account, one can see that the green lines are not the vines, but some plants cultivated between the lines of vines. The picture is a bit fuzzy so it is difficult to guess what sort of plant that might be. Anyway it is OK to categorize this picture as a vineyard. Teofilo (talk) 22:05, 13 June 2009 (UTC)

4000 and still counting![edit]

You're doing well and not far from 5000 photographs!

The Railway yield sign File:AmphitheatreMainStreet.JPG is rather new! You really don't see them in NSW anymore as it's been replaced with the yellow advisory sign (which also happens to be in that photo) though one road in Wagga still has the old set of yield signs and that is on Bourke/Docker St level crossing, wonder it that they are still there though they have faded over time. Bidgee (talk) 14:44, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

Thanks. Will almost certainly pass 5,000 photographs in the next two weeks. I am on a bit of a trip around the Western District (in Portland as I write) and will be in SA later today. Picking up images of lots of towns not previously covered by Commons (and plenty of Bills horse troughs as well). -- Mattinbgn/talk 20:45, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

Hi,

Do you want to have patroller or autopatroller as I'll be happy to assigned it to you, as you're trustworthy here on Commons and Wiki? Bidgee (talk) 08:25, 16 March 2010 (UTC)

Hi Bidgee. Thanks for the kind words. Happy to have either permission. I guess I had better look at what they actually do now! Cheers, Mattinbgn/talk 08:58, 16 March 2010 (UTC)

You're now a patroller (meaning your edits are marked a patrolled and you can patrol other editors edits), no doubt there will be back log of edits that need patrolling! Autopatroller is a step down (IE: only your edits are marked as patrolled). :) Bidgee (talk) 09:21, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
Also see Commons:Counter Vandalism Unit (has a list of the edits that need patrolling) and Commons:Patrol (some info). Bidgee (talk) 09:25, 16 March 2010 (UTC)

Very slowly[edit]

With my back to the door, both guns muzzled and turned off, and heat seeking devices disarmed (thats what an en rfa needs), I am here in that mode - I am looking forward to use each strand of the new mop separately and slowly does it, first the recconiassance is taking it very easily, just viewing the territory, and at the right time with the right strand of the mop fluttering in the breeze or dragging in the mud (whichever), it will happen ... :) - oh btw - thanks SatuSuro (talk) 01:26, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

File talk:Form of government parliamentary.png[edit]

I've changed the green to light blue; let me know if that's still a problem - MPF (talk) 16:54, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Filemover rights[edit]

I have given you the new filemover rights, at this stage we are looking at ways on how the files will be changed on other Wiki's as you can't (sysop's can) use CommonsDelinker bot (User:CommonsDelinker/commands) to change the file names (e.g badname.jpg --> goodname.jpg) without having to do it manually, but thought it could be handy at this stage to fix your own files.

Please see COM:AN#Implementation of rename right and Commons:Village pump#Let's add a rename user right. Bidgee (talk) 13:37, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

Thanks! Will be very handy, especially with my own upload typos :) Mattinbgn/talk 20:39, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

File mover[edit]

The functionality of the template {{rename}} has recently changed. You might need to clear your cache to see the changes. If successful you should then be able to use the new "Quick adding" link in the template to instruct CommonsDelinker to replace the old name with the new name in all wikis. Please use that every time you rename a file. If further questions arise, feel free to write on my talk page --DieBuche (talk) 10:00, 2 June 2010 (UTC)

It is great[edit]

To see some hard work being done in managing australian files and categories - well done! pity real life has me by the vital parts at the moment - thank you for your hard work and time!!! SatuSuro (talk) 03:21, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

Thanks! It filled a quiet weekend in for me at least. I will be busy also for the next few months as well. Sigh ... -- Mattinbgn/talk 03:37, 28 June 2010 (UTC)

Could you?[edit]

Hi Matt, Could you deal with this? Bidgee (talk) 07:45, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

Edithburgh South Australia images - historic buildings[edit]

  • File:EdithburghShop1.JPG

This building was previously a Bank on Edith Street Edithburgh and is situated next to the old Edithburgh RSL. I am unsure which bank occupied the building, possible the Bank of South Australia. As far as I know it has never operated as a shop at any time.

  • File:EdithburghShop2.JPG

This limestone building in your photo was the Edithburgh RSL. I don't think it was a shop at any time. The building is on Edith Street on the corner of Ansley Terrace. It almost opposite the the Police Station residence which is a little further to the East and next to the Police Station. It is currently a private residence, prior to this was an informal art gallery operated by a Peter McGlinchey an artist who was resident there. I am not sure when it was built and if it had any other use prior to being the site of the Edithburgh RSL.

  • File:EdithburghHouse.JPG

This is the old Harbour Masters house overlooking the Edithburgh Jetty and old Salt silo site at the eastern end of Edith Street Edithburgh. Now a private residence. Looks like it is being renovated in this shot.

  • File:EdithburghLocationCafe.JPG

This used to be a butchers shop on the corner of Edith and Blanch Street Edithburgh until maybe sometime into the late 1970's or early 1980's. It remained vacant for a long period and was then operated as a 'Chinese' restaurant. That then closed and it remained vacant for a time. It was then opened as the "Location Cafe" sometime around 2000.

Great body of work you have uploaded. Keep up the good work. Felix505 (talk) 17:57, 6 August 2010 (UTC)
Thanks. Where possible I try and verify buildings but sometimes I am unable to, and as such rely on the wiki process to provide more accurate descriptions. Feel free to edit the descriptions and I am happy to move the images to better names if needed. Cheers, Mattinbgn/talk 06:49, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

category Jervis Bay[edit]

Querying why you put Jervis Bay back in States and territories of Australia. Last time i checked it wasn't anything of the sort (a state or territory). I believe it belongs in NSW or just the sub cat of south coast NSW.Fairv8 (talk) 11:20, 26 October 2010 (UTC)fairv8

see en:Jervis Bay Territory for an explanation. -- Mattinbgn/talk 21:33, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

SLQ categorisation[edit]

Hi Matt, Thanks a heap for your categorisation work. The bot will automatically categorise images if the categories are added at Commons:State Library of Queensland/Subjects. John Vandenberg (chat)

Hi John. Sorry, your message is a little cryptic. I am not sure what I am supposed to do at Commons:State Library of Queensland/Subjects and how it is all going to work. If the content of the various sub-pages are going to be future categories, I think they need a lot of tidying. I am not a programming-type person and I have no idea how the bot will work to find the appropriate categories and therefore I am more than a little nervous about ripping in and doing anything there, even if I knew what I was doing. Also, is my manual categorisation actually helpful, or would you prefer me to get out of the way? Cheers, Mattinbgn/talk 10:35, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
See for example Commons:State_Library_of_Queensland/Subjects/non-alpha; the bot will match the subject in the first column (from the metadata) and add the categories in the second column to the uploaded image (both when it uploads the image, and retrospectively if the mapping is added after the upload). John Vandenberg (chat) 11:01, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
Manually adding categories is fine. I should be able to use the manually added categories to help build Commons:State Library of Queensland/Subjects. John Vandenberg (chat) 11:04, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
Aaah, that makes more sense ... Thanks, Mattinbgn/talk 21:07, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for you work on Commons:State Library of Queensland/Subjects/A, and all the manually adding of cats. I writing the code to extract the manually added cats now. --John Vandenberg (chat) 00:39, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
Can I add to the pat on the back for the work in this space. :-)  — billinghurst sDrewth 12:43, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

Hotels / pubs[edit]

Responded on my page to keep discussion together. Cheers, Ingolfson (talk) 23:25, 12 March 2011 (UTC)

Indeed it does (viz comment at Moondynes talk) - sorry about muddying the water at the the hotel category trying to subsume pub as a sub cat - now I see the bigger picture of what has been going on at various points - I dont know if I want to join in lest I confuse the issue further - I would never use the term pub myself after the work I have done in historical research in western tas and wa - I believe it is a furphy - but hey if a few of the other oz eds actually join in - then hey maybe we can learn something SatuSuro (talk) 01:46, 24 March 2011 (UTC)

I have left my comment at the central point - and just hope a breadth of ideas and constructive comments emanate - so far it seems quite uninspiring - I probably havent helped - cheers SatuSuro (talk) 01:56, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Palace_Hotel,_Perth is not currently anything but a bank building (although rumours are it will become a damned drinking place again (I will wash my mouth out with a middy for lunch if I use the damned term here) - so in specific detail - it is not currently a --- or a hotel - so there should also be a former... category as well SatuSuro (talk) 02:00, 24 March 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for participating in the discussion. I have been using "Pub" because I think using "Hotel" is misleading. The Royal Hotel in Berrigan may have a few rooms that it may rent out once in a while, but a hotel it aint. For better or worse, it is a pub P word! Cheers, Mattinbgn/talk 09:06, 24 March 2011 (UTC)

Sorry mate I am not much help - I wish it was easily solved - but hell... SatuSuro (talk) 10:02, 24 March 2011 (UTC)

thanks for adding additional cats to the images I've been uploading Gnangarra 04:24, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

Thanks, 105 so far another 35 today(last set will be Category:Wonnerup House) thats all the friday photos, then theres saturday and sundays photos but probably wont get to them before the weekend. Gnangarra 04:51, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
after of that I'll have to buy you and few others a couple of very cold ales. Gnangarra 04:51, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
I'll have to get over to WA for it! I have never been west of Wallaroo SA in my life. Actually I am quite keen to get over there and get around the small towns of the wheatbelt. Photographing small towns is one of my favourite activities. -- Mattinbgn/talk 07:32, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
cough cough (stage left, slightest whisper) get wmau to help you over here and we'll (you, gnang and self... do the whole wheatbelt? SatuSuro (talk) 11:36, 29 March 2011 (UTC)

It's worth considering ... -- Mattinbgn/talk`

If you want to throw together a proposal, I'm happy to take it to the committee, although I don't know how much funding is possible at the moment. :) It's the sort of thing I think we should be supporting. You could instead ask for up to $200 as a small grant, and that requires less work and is quick to approve. - Bilby (talk) 12:41, 29 March 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the offer, I will keep in mind. It is unlikely to happen in the short term though. I would need to arrange some leave. -- Mattinbgn/talk 07:39, 30 March 2011 (UTC)

Wangaratta[edit]

Hi Mattinbgn. My understanding is that the settlement of Wangaratta ceased to be a city in 1994, when the City of Wangaratta was abolished and merged into the Rural City of Wangaratta. Category:Cities in Victoria, Australia ultimately forms a subcategory of Category:Subdivisions and, as the settlement is no longer a subdivision, it shouldn't really be in the category for cities. However, it may be helpful to make Category:Rural cities in Victoria, Australia a subcategory of Category:Cities in Victoria, Australia, which would mean that the settlement could still be reached from the cities category. Alternatively, what has been done in other countries is to include a hatnote on the lines of See also Rural cities in Victoria, Australia at the top of the cities page. Skinsmoke (talk) 06:20, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

You've made a huge mess of the category system. First of all "Rural City" is only a name given to LGA which have a city located with the LGA and are not part of a capital city. Secondly having Category:Rural City/Shire of Foo, State isn't needed, ", State/Territory" is only needed if there is more then one category with the same name/article. Thirdly towns/villages categories should have the LGA they are located in added. Bidgee (talk) 07:10, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
(edit conflict) @ Skinsmoke. OK, the question you have asked deserves a long answer, because it is complicated. I have not got the time to answer it fully now but I promise I will. The basic point is that Local Government in Australia is fundamentally different to that in US and the UK. There is no functional difference between a Local Government Area called "City", "Shire" "Region" etc. All (within the same state) have the same powers and responsibilities. The use of the terms "City", "Town", "village"etc. has now in general become one of custom in Australia rather than law and the term "city" now basically means "large urban area" in Australian English - although some Australians may disagree with me. For example, there is no longer a en:City of Toowoomba (it was abolished in 2007) yet en:Toowoomba would still be referred to a city by all Australians. It is a little more complex than that too because of what Australia call suburbs, which are not necessarily (but may be) in a different local government area than their city - "suburb" in Australian English basically means "neighbourhood" rather than the US version. In short, it is more complex than it appears. I understand that Australia does not stand in isolation from the rest of the project but if we are going to make radical change (and what you have commenced is—good faith—radical change) I suggest we stop, discuss it widely and then proceed. I think change is necessary too, but in a different direction than you have planned. I am happy to take discussion to a central place if you wish. Cheers, [[user:Mattinbgn|Mattinbgn] (talk) 07:13, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

Just found some information on the building. Quote of the from the report since it is rather long and hard to find.

The Koorawatha Regional Rooms is representative of Schools of Arts and literary institutes built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and is also representative of the endeavour of the people of Koorawatha who worked towards its construction. Nice work on the NZ photos![edit]

Loving the photos you're uploading! I do also apologise for the comment I made on the deletion on the photograph of the Chrysler CL Valiant Charger, it wasn't directing it at you but the nomitator (IP). I also have a question regarding this building which is located in Kincaid Street, to me it looks like a former post office or police station but I've drawn a blank on finding the history of the building. Bidgee (talk) 10:13, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

Thanks Bidgee. The best is yet to come, I think. No worries about the comment - I thought it was a little strange. About the building, it is certainly a public building of some sort. City of Wagga Wagga would have a property file with rating details etc. that they might let you access. Cheers, Mattinbgn (talk) 11:34, 19 December 2011 (UTC)
Haven't had a chance to ask the council yet but they have asked to use something of mind, so I'll see if they will be willing to find out. I see your still busy uploading! Still got a few to go on Queanbeyan (though I'll make another trip there in the next few weeks for more photos and reshoot a few) but a big backlog with Canberra and some of Wagga. Bidgee (talk) 14:59, 13 January 2012 (UTC)
NZ photos done - now have a decent backlog from Ballarat to work my way through ... -- Mattinbgn (talk) 11:44, 18 January 2012 (UTC)

Dear Mattinbgn,

My name is Bekti Mulatiningsih from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT). As part of Masters of Information Technology Library and Information Science (Coursework) study, I am doing a project titled: “User participation in the categorisation of the State Library of Queensland digital image collections: characteristics, motivations and experiences”. The purpose of this project is to examine the users’ experiences emphasising users’ characteristics, motivations and personal experiences in the categorisation of the State Library of Queensland (SLQ) digital image collections.

You are invited to participate in this project because have been identified as users who frequently participates in categorisation activity on the SLQ digital image collections on Wikimedia. Your participation in this project is entirely voluntary. If you do agree to participate, you can withdraw from the project without comment or penalty. Any identifiable information already obtained from you will be destroyed. Thanks[edit]

Thanks heaps for helping with cats and such on the images - it's a massive clearout of my hard drive which still isn't complete, but is great to have the images up here rather than lurking around offline. Have a couple of questions regarding images still in the temp category - any idea what cats these should go in?

Orderinchaos (talk) 05:50, 2 April 2012 (UTC)

No problem - happy to help Great to see a lot of WA images uploaded. WA has great content on Wikipedia but until recently lagged on the Commons. Good to see that turning around.
Added some cats to the baby dove image. The HMAS Sydney memorial should have its own cat of course. The waterbird one looks like it has the appropriate cats added.
When adding categories - I tend to think "Where", then "What" - breaking that down to "purpose", "style", "history" (if known), features etc. - and finally "when".
Unlike Wikipedia, the Commons encourages the creation of new categories so create as many as you like. If you have two or more shots of a building, a park or a street - create a category. It does make it easier for you and others in the long run. Consider adding [[Category:(Year)in Australia]] to your images to help editors using catscan. You should also consider using your creator category: Category:Photographs by Orderinchaos. It will make life a little easier for you down the track. The camera aficionadoes would probably appreciate using a Category:Taken with Canon PowerShot A80 or the equivalent as well. Where you know a year of construction add a cat for that too i.e. [[Category:Built in Australia in (year)]].
Hope this helps. Happy to wander through your uploads and add cats as I see them. Cheers, Mattinbgn (talk) 23:06, 2 April 2012 (UTC)
Thanks once again. And yes, the ironic thing was I went to many of these places with the specific aim of taking photos for Wikimedia, then they sat on my hard drive for upwards of 5 years! I'm also trying to address a deficit in suburban Adelaide (took 300 last trip, will probably take the same again in different areas when I'm there soon), and I still have the Melbourne and Newcastle pics to upload, as well as some from Bunbury and Dongara in Western Australia. One other good thing about sorting out the images is that it gives me an idea what is needed to take to complete various collections. Orderinchaos (talk) 00:45, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

Quick question - a problem I've hit with categorisation is cultural things - e.g. Italian clubs and such things. The Italy category seems to only pertain to things *in* Italy, and there doesn't seem to be a "by country" category scheme which applies (e.g. Italian culture in Australia or somesuch). It's not limited to just Italian, but I give it as an example. Any idea what to do with these ones? Orderinchaos (talk) 09:53, 6 May 2012 (UTC)
On the iPad which is a bit awkward so will be brief. Try Category:Italian diaspora in Australia as a parent category. As always free free to create sub cats as you feel necessary -- Italian clubs in Australia -- under this parent cat. Same principle for other nationalities etc. Mattinbgn (talk) 12:25, 6 May 2012 (UTC)

Ray Warren statue[edit]

Well long last there is a photo (or three) on Commons, I have more that I've yet to edit and upload. Did get photos of it in March but was heavy rain at the time which I'll upload once I start clearing my backlog (not helped by the floods). Bidgee (talk) 14:41, 27 April 2012 (UTC)

Looks good. I would give it its own cat. With the floods and rain I am amazed you have had time to take any photographs. I have been trawling Flickr for photographs for northern and western Queensland articles at the moment but took some more photos today - mostly bridges over the Goulburn River. Cheers, Mattinbgn (talk) 11:04, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
Cheers for that, wasn't sure what the cat should be. With the floods, I wished I could have got more photos! If I wasn't stress and ill, I would have got some photos on the Holbrook-Mangoplah and Burrandana roads. Burrandana Rd is interesting on the best of days but after record rainfall it is just mind blowing! Parts of the road was days before at least 2m deep maybe more. Even could have got a photo of Westby Station (end of the Westby branch line and has been disused for sometime). You beat me to this, shame to see another pub lost. Nice work on the Goulburn region of Vic. Bidgee (talk) 13:42, 30 April 2012 (UTC)

Not a problem. -- Mattinbgn (talk) 21:59, 4 June 2012 (UTC)
I do not want to bring over the toxicity of wp;En on the subject but I find the presence of the Indian ocean as having something to do with bass strait a bit much,

I am not going to act on my hunches strait off (sic) - but what do you think? SatuSuro (talk) 14:05, 8 June 2012 (UTC)

Funnily enough I am holidaying in en:Port Campbell, Victoria at the moment. Yesterday I visited the 12 Apostles and looked out over what I consider to be the Southern Ocean. I agree with you on this matter. Howeve I am pragmatic when it comes to categorisation on Commons. The working definition of the Indian Ocean supported by Commons editors shows the Indian Ocean extending to Gabo Island - no matter how ridiculous this sounds to you me. The best course of action I see if I want to comprehensively categorise Aust. river categories is to use the existing consensus and hope common sense reestablishes itself in time. Then it is just a matter of changing the cats over. Setting up my own preferences as an alternative seems needlessly confrontational. Cheers, Mattinbgn (talk) 21:02, 9 June 2012 (UTC)
yup wait and see... sounds the best way...SatuSuro (talk) 12:46, 10 June 2012 (UTC)

Bight[edit]

Unfortuantely WP:AGF, common sense and a sense of civility while on the net refrain me from expressing my true feelings about the IHO - I think that a cumulative collection of swear words fromn croation, Spanish, arabic, indonesian, and javanese would not be enough even if they involved copious amounts of allusions to daughters, wives and successive generations would be inadequate, so to speak SatuSuro (talk) 10:07, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

Advice again :)[edit]

Hey... Have a peculiar problem arising from my own efforts years ago and a successful Wiki Takes event - two suburb categories (Kinross and Tamala Park) have an awful lot of photos taken of, from and along a boundary fence (mainly from a single location on it: [2]), which also happens to mark the City of Joondalup/City of Wanneroo boundary. The fence is completely non-notable, it more amounts to the fact we got great pictures from this location! What's the best way of handling this from a category point of view, given the fence does not have a name? Orderinchaos (talk) 08:52, 15 June 2012 (UTC)

I reckon creating a category for this feature would be fine. I have gone as far as making categories such as Category:Bills horse trough, Berrigan! I would try and use a reasonably short by descriptive name if possible but use the description field {{en|The '''Kinross-Tamala Park''' boundary fence is a unnamed wire fence built along the border of the Perth suburbs of {{en|Kinross, Western Australia}} in the {{en:City of Joondalup}} and ... }} That should be enough to uniquely identify this feature. Remember to add categories. Hope this helps. Mattinbgn (talk) 09:22, 15 June 2012 (UTC)
Cool thanks :) Category:Kinross–Tamala Park boundary fence is now possibly the most photo-documented non-notable fence in Australia :P Orderinchaos (talk) 14:53, 16 June 2012 (UTC)
It's funny that while only a guideline, WP:N is one of the hardest things to unlearn here on Commons. It also takes a bit of time to develop a bit of confidence that creating categories is actually encouraged here rather than frowned upon as it is an enwiki. -- Mattinbgn (talk) 22:26, 17 June 2012 (UTC)
True - thanks for your help once again :) And another oddity - a forest in the middle of a ridiculously oversized median strip on Highway 1 in Perth's southern suburbs! Orderinchaos (talk) 23:36, 1 July 2012 (UTC)

Categorisation of former banks[edit]

Not too sure how we should categorises the former bank buildings, just that we will fill the categories up with a heap of former banks such as Category:Former banks in Junee. Bidgee (talk) 11:42, 10 November 2012 (UTC)

If there are enough that categorising them makes sense, then I think we should. The only change I would make now is renaming the cats to "bank buildings" to avoid confusion with "banking companies". -- Mattinbgn (talk) 21:23, 10 November 2012 (UTC)
I guess we should change the whole category structure to "Former bank buildings in Foo (Country, State/Territory or location)"? Bidgee (talk) 00:26, 11 November 2012 (UTC)
I think so - big job though. -- Mattinbgn (talk) 19:14, 11 November 2012 (UTC)

FoP-Australia[edit]

Hi, every image within FoP-Countries showing potentialy copyrightes objects lika culptures, buildings should get tagged with the corresponding template to clarify the situation. I'm currently starting with Australia and will continue with it... Cheers --JuTa 23:51, 4 February 2013 (UTC)

I disagree, templating structures (buildings, bridges and objects [such as a petrol bowser]) is not necessary. Statues, memorials and the like do need the FoP tag but not in all cases. Bidgee (talk) 00:11, 5 February 2013 (UTC)

Hi Mattinbgn[edit]

I'm quite sorry that our words got all tangled at the discussion I started. I think I pinned down where it happened, where you made claims about both myself and Fry, but only gave a diff to your claims against Fry, which I honestly haven't looked into that part of the claim. It doesn't worry me, I'm not upset where you say I'm calling people liars even though I am not, but I do understand that you are upset and I am sorry about that.

About the 'future' stuff, it is generally accepted that people can ask to be kept informed, at least it is on en.wiki. Please understand that I would take everything I can into account when I vote at an RfA and seriously, a vote from me doesn't count for much, it's just one vote. Sometimes if I vote one way, people vote the opposite way. I saw that the other day, so it's not all bad really. People think of me as a complete jackass actually. They're wrong of course because there are bits missing.

See, here is the bit on en.wiki about asking to be kept informed (we don't have such a page on commons as far as I know)

Appropriate notification

An editor (...) can place a message at any of the following:

I am just really concerned about people who just do not care about the loss of humble, quiet editors like Outrune, in the pursuit of their own self interest. Bidgee won't be going anywhere even if he does get de-admined. He'll still be here, but Outrune and people like Outrune who just want to help all of us in some quite corner of the project by editing things nobody else would think of, I care a great deal about them. It worries me when they get all of their work destroyed like Bidgee did. Outrune made 100 svgs and uploaded them, I do not know how long that took them, I don't know how much effort it took, I can't do svg myself even though I'm an artist. But the way 100 images were reverted with no discussion and no possibility of appeal, well, I think anyone who has a heart can see the problem. Certainly I might make a habit of helping people who won't ever take an interest in voting for me but that is not why I want to help them. I just can't stand by and see people ruin the project for self-centered reasons at everyone else's expense, it's not right. 100 images takes a lot of work and a lot of dedication and there are voters there who are not even showing any indication that they even read or considered Outrune, or their work, or their feelings.

Anyhow, how about this, if ever some people convince me to lose my mind and agree to a RfA, I promise to leave a note on your talkpage begging you to come vote against me ok ? It would be a clear sign of the end of the world as mentioned in revelations in the Bible if ever someone who talks as much as I do were to become an admin here, so I'll surely need you help to prevent that from happening, ok? Penyulap 23:03, 31 July 2013 (UTC)

As I said, you win. I have learnt not to mess with you. I was wrong to be critical of your actions in the desysopping discussion as it appears your conduct is acceptable in Commons. It was my mistake. I promise I won't disagree with you in the future. Please now leave me alone. -- Mattinbgn (talk) 07:47, 1 August 2013 (UTC)

Deamalgamated Shires in Queensland[edit]

Hi, Matt! As you may or may not know, we have four de-amalgamated shires here in Queensland effective today:

I've gone through and updated the text in all 8 of these articles showing the 4 as being now de-amalgamated. But my problems are the maps. All the de-amalgamated shires are back to their old boundaries so their maps are OK, but the maps of the regional councils from which they are de-amalgamated are not OK. The maps were created by User:Roke who appears to have left Wikipedia/Commons in 2010. I am willing to have a go at updating the maps, but I just have no idea what tools/methods were used to create the maps in the first place. So I was wondering if you know anything about how those maps were created? Thanks, Kerry Raymond (talk) 05:18, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

Very aware of the situation with the de-amalgamated councils in Queensland. I don't know anything about map creation personally but you could try Commons:Graphic Lab who may be able to help. Good luck! -- Mattinbgn (talk) 06:19, 1 January 2014 (UTC)
I think I just got my hand on the raw data for the de-amalgamated shires from the Queensland Government Information Service, which is licensed as Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 Australia, which is positive. Will work on trying to get them into a LGA map. Bidgee (talk) 07:15, 6 January 2014 (UTC)
Great stuff - thanks for having a look. -- Mattinbgn (talk) 09:16, 6 January 2014 (UTC)
Using my PC via VNC, the program I'm using for the map creation is a little buggy (crashes often and has some garbage data added to the map). This is RAW data that has been outputted as an image. Bidgee (talk) 12:15, 6 January 2014 (UTC)
Created but I need to get the svg file size down from 7mb to a few hundred kb or 1mb at a maximum. What I though was garbage data looks to be valid data. Bidgee (talk) 15:59, 6 January 2014 (UTC)

It would be a big job for someone I know, but it would be wonderful if someone could create a set of Queensland local govermment locator maps like the Victorian set at Category:Location maps of local government areas in Victoria, Australia for use in a new set of locator templates like en:Category:Victorian LGA location map templates. -- Mattinbgn (talk) 21:49, 6 January 2014 (UTC)

I'll have a go, may take a week or so. Bidgee (talk) 02:00, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
I've made some slight adjustments, but have also added protected areas, rivers (including lakes and dams), rail and roads (major and highways), still needs further work and I'm also trying to create urban area (to show the extent that towns and cities have within the LGA). Bidgee (talk) 15:47, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
Looks great! Thanks for your work so far ... -- Mattinbgn (talk) 20:19, 7 January 2014 (UTC)
Urban centres and localities with more than 200 people has been added. Large 1.4MB (2843x3520px). Bidgee (talk) 03:50, 8 January 2014 (UTC)

Hi, there is a problem in the File:Brewarrina fish traps 2.jpg, Minerv (talk) 14:50, 10 January 2014 (UTC)

Yass Town Railway Station 002.JPG[edit]

Dear Matt

My apologies! I had saved the cropped image on my computer as Yass Town Railway Station 002-edit.JPG not realising that this version title would not be saved as such to Wikipedia without a separate 'new' upload. All this was revealed off course after I bumbled through the process for the first time.

I'll do the correct thing and request that a reversion to your original image be done and I'll post a separate edited version correctly!

My apologies again.

Regards

Roger

Reversion[edit]

Greetings! I am an admin working through nearly 60,000 images missing a source. I repaired your image file File:Alexandra_Old_Post_Office_003.JPG today, see the diff here. The file was previously missing source information due to a broken template as you can see on that page. I made changes to fix the template, removing it from the "missing source" category. I am reverting your reversion, explaining it here. If there's any reason that you wish the file to be "no source/no author" due to a typographical error, please let me know. I suspect you may have reverted just pro forma from having people mess with your photos before, but my edit was very valid, just take a look at the diffs to see what the effect of the extra brackets created. I have marked the edit summary showing that the total changes of this edit are the removal of two curly brackets }} which were preventing your image from being properly sourced and credited. Thanks for all your uploads. Cheers! Ellin Beltz (talk) 05:02, 3 June 2014 (UTC)

Some real oddities out there :P[edit]

Hi, any ideas how one might categorise File:Goomalling R4 fake cafe end railway tce 1.jpg and File:Goomalling R4 fake cafe end railway tce 2.jpg? Orderinchaos (talk) 09:50, 25 June 2014 (UTC)

Hell, where to start! Is it a museum display or a tourist attraction? It is a shed of some sort so can be categorised as such. There are supermarket signs, advertisements, banner displays etc. It is one of the most curious things I have seen. Not quite Category:Bric-à-brac but perhaps Category:Curiosities? -- Mattinbgn (talk) 10:41, 3 July 2014 (UTC)
Thanks - yeah it's a tough one! And re waxes and wanes I entirely understand! Very much the same here. Orderinchaos (talk) 23:34, 5 July 2014 (UTC)
