Hello!

Thank you for uploading File:Russell Wilson at the 2013 Jessie Vetter Classic, July 1, 2013.jpg to the Wikimedia Commons. I noticed that when you uploaded from another Wikimedia project, you left out some important information, or copied it incorrectly. In the future, please consider using CommonsHelper, a tool which automates the process of moving files over. Thank you,

Hey, you probably saw that I edited a lot of the images you uploaded[edit]

Hi, you might have noticed a flurry of activity in your watchlist. Here's a few things I noticed with your uploads:

  • When you upload from a Flickr source, it helps to add the {{flickrreview}} tag. If you uploaded the original, it lets us automatically verify that the license is valid, which is useful if the Flickr user ends up deleting the image of changing the license, as happens from time to time. It also sees if you've uploaded a lower res version, and uploads the original automatically....
  • Which gets me to the second thing - make sure you upload the largest version possible. It makes it easier for other users to crop, combine or otherwise do stuff with the pictures.
  • Avoid redundant categories - for example, if an image is already under Category:Cam Newton, don't add Category:Carolina Panthers or Category:Carolina Panthers players, because Category:Cam Newton is already included under those two other categories.
  • And finally, please upload photographs as JPEGs, not PNGs. PNGs look blurry when they're used on Wikipedia, and the Wiki software doesn't create thubmnails of PNGs, so they take use more bandwidth and take longer to load.

Anyways, thanks for your contribution to Commons. Take care. Ytoyoda (talk) 17:42, 29 January 2014 (UTC)

No worries - oh, and uploading images from Flickr is easier with Flickr Uploader (if you want pictures directly from Flickr) or Flinfo (good if you're uploading edited images). Ytoyoda (talk) 23:03, 29 January 2014 (UTC)

Category for a person[edit]

Please see the instructions at the top of this page for helpful information about when you create a category for a person: [1]. I generally don't create a category for a person until there are at least two pictures of the person. Thanks and ciao. Jeffrey Beall (talk) 01:26, 27 August 2014 (UTC)

Better source request for File:Mcquarters.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Mcquarters.JPG. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the file because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact web page where you found the file, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the file itself. Please update the file description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the help desk or me at my talkpage. Thank you.

Flickr2Commons[edit]

I have just come across a few images you have recently uploaded from Flickr. I would appreciate it if in the future, you used the Flickr2Commons tool. This tool allows images to be moved to Commons from Flickr without having to download the images to your own computer. It also brings in the largest resolution of the image, as well making sure to list the correct license and url, making it easy for the automated Flickr Review system. Also, it is fairly easy to categorize images with this tool. Elisfkc (talk) 19:05, 3 August 2017 (UTC)

Cropped images[edit]

I noticed that some of the images you uploaded, such as File:Brock Osweiler (35537492024) crop.jpg were cropped from other images that had been positively reviewed by the FlickreviewR bot and required human review. By way of information for the future, when you want to crop an image may I suggest you use the CropTool that can be activated in your commons Preferences, under Gadgets. The CropTool will then appears in the left side of your screen. It saves everyone a lot of time because it transfers all the correct and appropriate information into the cropped image, such as source, license, author, etc. It even leaves a backlink, that I have done manually, to the original and visa versa so long as the original has been positively reviewed at the time you crop it. That way all the proper information is there and does not need to be manually reviewed. If you are just cropping a small bit of the image like a frame you can decide to overwrite the original image but for more major crops you should upload the cropped version as a separate new image as you did. Try it. Good luck. Ww2censor (talk) 20:50, 6 August 2017 (UTC)
