Hello, Michael Ritter 1946!

Tip: Add categories to your images

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations"). Pro-tip: The CommonSense tool can help you find the best category for your image.

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Battle of Villodrigo map[edit]

Dear Michael Ritter,

I congratulate to read your formidable contribution to the "Batalla de Villodrigo" article in the spanish wikipedia, and specially for the fantastic map you have created (File:Batalla de Villodrigo (VERSIÓN ACTUALIZADA).jpg). I only would like to know about your sources (publications, old maps,...) for the location. I mean: in the map the battle is located in the east from Villodrigo, in the oposite side of the river close to the road to Valles de Palenzuela. But in the publication linked in the references of the article (frech publication dated at 1898) you can find a map of the battle in the page 317, and the battle is settled in the north from Villodrigo, in the same side of the the river and in the east of the way that currently is a motorway to Burgos city (in this location, but now destroyed by the modern motorway, there also was a inn close to a stone bridge over a spring (this way was a old roman road)). In fact, in a summit in the militar museum of Burgos some years ago it was commented that the real location was in Villaverde Mogina what is is accordance with the map of this frech publication. I thought that the batle was called of Villodrigo because in this village was a little french garrison.

For sure, I do not doubt your knowledge, but I want to know other sources because my main reference is that frech publication.

Thank you very much for your support and for your fantastic contribution to this article.
