Template:Intersect categories

Hi, could you have another {{Intersect categories}} run.

Any idea why Siebot cat moves are down since a week or so ?

Thank you. --Foroa (talk) 07:04, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

And another run ? --Foroa (talk) 06:27, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

CategorizationBot problem during Images from Wiki Loves Monuments 2011 uploads

Hi, there must be something wrong with the uploads from "Images from Wiki Loves Monuments 2011" as you can see in User_talk:CategorizationBot#Bot_and_template_or_upload_wizard_malfunctioning. --Foroa (talk) 17:47, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

Potd description

Hi Multichill. Is the {{Potd description}} task still running (eg [1])? Because every so often I see pages without it in Special:UncategorizedTemplates. Rd232 (talk) 14:17, 5 September 2011 (UTC)

It appears to be running once a week. Special:UncategorizedTemplates looks pretty decent. Multichill (talk) 15:18, 5 September 2011 (UTC)
OK, great. Maybe the task could be daily though, because descriptions are quite often created on or near the relevant date. Rd232 (talk) 10:38, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

Category bot message

Hello Maarten,

as you know, the warning/task assignment language of the category bot messages has been bothering me for a long time, and I've finally gone ahead and updated Template:Please link images/en as well as Template:Please link images/heading/en. If it's not been reverted by the time you see this, take a look and let me know what you think. :-)--Eloquence (talk) 01:59, 6 September 2011 (UTC)

Looks good Erik! What's next? Get some more feedback and than try to get it translated? Would be nice to at least have a better message for the top languages. Multichill (talk) 08:31, 10 September 2011 (UTC)

WLM in Czech Republic

It is up to you of course if you prefer 8 pictures (not mine) to hang around until the end of September in the category of WLM contributions in an unknown country, though the country is perfectly known. But then why do you have a category for Russia (only filled so far by the images I uploaded) and for Hungary (empty category), none of which is a part of WLM?--Ymblanter (talk) 21:32, 12 September 2011 (UTC)

Rijksmonumenten Amsterdam-Oost

WLM Norway

First of all, thank you so much for help with cultural heritage lists for WLM Norway!

Due to a bug, the WLM row template fails to parse correctly if a single page contains more than about 500 rows. We have fixed the affected WLM pages by splitting then up multiple smaller pages.

  • Is this 500 row limitation a known bug in other WLM lists?
  • What is the correct procedure if we want to add an image column in the WLM tables with a small thumbnail of the monument if a monument has been uploaded to Commons? (preferably a bot job)

User:ErfgoedBot

I've flagged this bot as autopatrolled, because the large number of edits was rendering this screen all but useless. However, shouldn't it go through a formal request for permission to run, and get a bot flag? Courcelles (talk) 20:44, 21 September 2011 (UTC)

the bot flag would be useful to filter away your mass edits in the watchlist. --Herzi Pinki (talk) 00:34, 22 September 2011 (UTC)

POTD/2012-02-06

Hi Multichill!
POTD/2012-02-06 could be replaced. File:Ronald Reagan with cowboy hat 12-0071M edit.jpg not featured on Commons and cannot be POTD here, sorry. I propose replace this POTD with Church of Saint Blessed Xenia of Petersburg. 06 feb. is the Day of Saint Blessed Xenia.
With best regards -- George Chernilevsky talk 19:57, 22 September 2011 (UTC)

It is featured. Multichill (talk) 20:00, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
Featured in En.Wiki, but not featured on Commons -- George Chernilevsky talk 20:02, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
I propose You to nominate this picture as FP candidate on Commons. On success this picture is correct POTD. Otherwise POTD could be replaced -- George Chernilevsky talk 20:14, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
Hmm, I thought it was featured here too. Anyway, don't care. Feel free to replace it. Multichill (talk) 20:35, 22 September 2011 (UTC)
OK, thanks -- George Chernilevsky talk 20:58, 22 September 2011 (UTC)

Geographicus maps copyright tagging

Hi Multichill, I'm not sure if this is the correct place for this but you appear to be responsible for uploading the majority of the Geographicus maps that are on Commons. Anyway, I've been looking at a lot of these maps and have noticed that the majority are tagged as 'PD-art' which shows (for me, I'm located in the UK) that the item is in the public domain because the copyright has expired as more than 70 years have passed since the death of the author. However, as far as I can tell this tag is incorrect for most of the maps - the main problem is that the majority do not have an identified author and thus no basis on which to claim that 70 years have passed since his/her death. Several of the maps explicitly state in the description that the author is unknown but the 'Death + 70' tag is still used. Moreover, on maps where an author has been identified, there are several where the author clearly did not die more than 70 years ago, e.g. http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:1950_Joseph_Feher_Dole_Map_of_Hawaii_-_Geographicus_-_Hawaii-feher-1950.jpg but the Death + 70 tag is still used. Jakob Reznik (talk) 13:22, 24 September 2011 (UTC)

Just wanted to add that what I've said above applies only to the maps I've looked at, I haven't looked at all of them. I have subsequently noticed that many of the maps are sufficiently old that a Death + 70 is clearly fine even if the author is unidentified, but there are also quite a lot from the 1920s/30s/40s etc where a Death + 70 tag is used but the author is either unidentified or did not die prior to 1941. Thank you for providing images to Wikimedia Commons. Please keep in mind that images and other files on Commons must be under a free license and should be useful to the Wikimedia projects. To allow others to use your files, some additional information must be given on the description page. Most importantly:

  • Describe what it is about in a short sentence. (What does the image show?)
  • State the author and the date of creation. If you made it yourself, say so explicitly. If it is from another Wikimedia user, link to the person's local user page. Best to use CommonsHelper.
  • If you did not create the file yourself, state the source you got it from.
  • Add a copyright tag - images without an appropriate license tag will be deleted.
  • Add the image to one or more gallery pages and/or appropriate categories, so it can be found by others. To find out where an image belongs, you can use CommonsSense.

If you copied the file from another wiki, please copy all information given there and say who uploaded it to that wiki. Use CommonsHelper.

It is recommended to use Template:Information to put that information on the description page. Have a look at Template talk:Information for details of the use of this template.

You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file.

Please add as much information as possible. If there is not sufficient information, the file may have to be deleted. For more information, follow the Commons:First steps guide. If you need help or have questions, please ask at the Help desk.

Thank you.

This message was added automatically by Nikbot, if you need some help about it, please read the text above again and follow the links in it,if you still need help ask at the ? ->Commons:Help desk in any language you like to use. --Nikbot 20:21, 28 September 2011 (UTC)

A Night in the Circus

I am contacting you with a question in regards to the image under circus posters, the girl with yellow skirt sitting on the horse. Can I use this image for a mural? I am being paid to create the mural? I am using it with other older poster designs? Thank you.
