Bulgarian copyright[edit]
Hello Polaert. I will try to answer your question but keep in mind that I'm not a law expert. I looked in the Bulgarian copyright law. It doesn't provide any special rules about stamps, coins and banknotes. The only thing that probably could be used for the currency signs is that the publict acts are ineligible for copyright but I'm not sure. I hope that it helps you. --Nk 08:45, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
- An user of Bulgarian Wikipedia showed me this page. This is an ordinance of the Bulgarian national bank concerning the reproduction of coins and banknotes. There are some requirements, especially for the banknotes (resolution, etc.), but the worst thing is that you need a written permission from the bank. The procedure to obtain the permission seems very bureaucratic. The rules apply for all emissions of Bulgarian currency symbols.
- Unfortunately it seems that we also have to remove a couple of images on bg:. --Nk 10:19, 17 June 2006 (UTC)
Please link your images so that others can find them![edit]
Hello - thank you for providing images to the wikimedia commons. Please keep in mind that images uploaded to the commons should be useful to all users of wikimedia projects - this is possible only if the images can be found by other people. To allow others to find the images you uploaded here, the images should be in some place that can be found by navigating the category structure. This means that you should either place the images on topic pages (galleries) or put the images directly into a category, or do both (see Commons:Categories). To find good categories for your images, the CommonSense tool may help. You can find a convenient overview of your uploaded files here: Gallery
The important point is that the images should be placed in the general structure somewhere. There is a large number of completely unsorted images on the commons right now. If you would like to help to place some of those images where they can be found, please do! Thank you. pfctdayelise (translate?) 12:33, 18 June 2006 (UTC)
Image Tagging Image:Boris III timbres.jpg[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:Boris III timbres.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use to release it under the Creative Commons or PD-self to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. Please give images better names[edit]
I noticed you've uploaded some images and I thought I should draw your attention to a common error.
Please give uploaded images meaningful names. Otherwise they are difficult to track and it is hard to tell what the image is about without actually looking at it. I suggest you rename each image with an intuitive name that describes the image itself. Thanks, and happy editing! Martin H. (talk) 15:35, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
- I just found File:Aubame.jpg, and i think it is a realy undescriptive name. Why not something like File:Jean Hilaire Aubame.jpg (minimum) or keeping the old filename as a reference File:Jean Hilaire Aubame, Bundesarchiv B 145 Bild-F012937-0001.jpg?? Please select better filenames. --Martin H. (talk) 15:38, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
Tip: Categorizing images[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.BotMultichillT 06:06, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

Photos dans le domaine public[edit]
Bonjour,
Nous essayons de mieux catégoriser les photos dans le domaine public.
Il convient pour chacune d'elles de déterminer :
- la législation applicable dans le pays source (cas le plus simple : l'auteur est décédé depuis plus de 70 ans ; un autre cas courant en Europe -> la photo a été publiée sans mention précise de l'auteur (travail anonyme, sous pseudonyme, signature vague) Anonymous-EU est alors utilisé) ;
- la législation applicable aux États-Unis (cas le plus simple : toute photo d'avant 1923 y est dans le domaine public, ce que l'on note via PD-1923)
* * *

--Dereckson (talk) 20:15, 31 December 2012 (UTC)
