These are good instructions for cleanup. See also category:Manually coded SVG and SVG code examples for code written from scratch. /Pieter Kuiper (talk) 22:35, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
Thanks! I learned quite a few new things from the SVG code examples. —Quibik (talk) 10:04, 28 March 2010 (UTC)
Could you make a list of what's safe to remove? I.e, all the nonstandard tags etc. Like <i:pgf>, <g i:extraneous="self"> and others. Thanks matey! --Shandris (talk) 20:59, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

Font handling[edit]

Hi Quibik, I'm lost with font management in SVG, maybe you can help? I created this infographic: File:The secret flow of Wiki Loves Monuments infografic.svg. My first version was with the beautiful Open Sans, but fonts converted to paths. That looks ok, but would be a pain to translate into other languages. I changed everything to DejaVu after reading your (great) export instructions on using fonts that are hosted on our server. DejaVu seems to be, and I took DejaVu Sans Condensed bold and regular. Inkscape however does not handle the condensed fonts, so I took the export from Illustrator CS4. You can see the broken results in the history of the files... :-( I tried different exports of subsets: "none" and "only used glyphs", no difference. Any idea what to do? Thanks for any help! --Elya (talk) 15:25, 29 March 2012 (UTC)

Hi, I decided to keep a cleaned-up OpenSans version and provide an editable version for possible translations. Anyway would be interested what would be a good practise for that. Additionally, couldn't find out how to clean this sodipodi/inkscape stuff if it's already in the svgs I use for the graphic (and there were many of them). Vacuum defs seems not to work here – I cleaned it manually now. Finally: Thank you for the great tipps on this page! --Elya (talk) 21:05, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
