Sig-pro-SP2022-p1030058.jpg[edit]

The photo you have authored titled Sig-pro-SP2022-p1030058.jpg has an incorrect description. The photo not of a Sig SP2022. Note that an SP2022 does not have a take-down lever, but has an extended slide stop that doubles as a takedown pin. Your photo clearly shows a separate slide stop and takedown lever. The photo appears to be of a Sig Sauer P226.

Copyright request[edit]

Dear Rama,

First of all, I just wanted to say thank you for your work in making pictures available on Wikimedia Commons.

I would like to use one of your photos in a publication I am working on at the moment, and since it will be produced by a charity organization my royalties are not large (and would quickly be swallowed up if I had to pay for images).

My publisher, however, has requested that I confirm with you that you are willing to give me permission to use the following:

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Zakkur_Stele_0154.jpg

Are you fine with this? Could you please contact me at achalmers@adelaide.tabor.edu.au

Once again, thanks for your work and I look forward to hearing back from you.

All the best,

Dr Aaron Chalmers

Trying to contact Rama[edit]

Rama-

I would like to use a modified version of your photograph "Japanese Arrowheads of Various Functions" in my unpublished Master's thesis from the University of Nevada, Reno. I have cited you based on the license agreement. Can you please provide me with a year the photograph was taken or uploaded to add to my references, and perhaps a first and last name so that the citation meets the requirements of my University? Thank you. Email is the best way to contact me. Please respond to mrlenzi@hotmail.com.

Javelins photos[edit]

Can you check the licensing of these files? They are currently naming either you or Ad Wilschut as the author, and you as the copyright holder / license granter. Thanks. File:The Javelins 1.jpg, File:The Javelins 1964-1-1.PNG, File:The Javelins 1965.png. --ghouston (talk) 09:48, 25 June 2018 (UTC)

Actually they were originally uploaded by Rama~nlwiki at Dutch Wikipedia, I guess you took over the account name. --ghouston (talk) 09:52, 25 June 2018 (UTC)
Hello,
yes, I am afraid that your Rama is in another castle ^^
I was unaware of this band and that I had a homonyme on wp-nl. Seeing them, there are good chances that this images were mistakenly uploaded by a use unaware of copyright rules.
Thank you for your vigilance, and cheers! Rama (talk) 11:32, 25 June 2018 (UTC)
Thanks, I just nominated them for deletion. --ghouston (talk) 05:31, 26 June 2018 (UTC)

Structured Data on Commons IRC Office Hour, Tuesday 26 June[edit]

Greetings,

There will be an IRC office hour for Structured Data on Tuesday, 26 June from 18:00-19:00 UTC in #wikimedia-office. You can find more details, as well as date and time conversion, at the IRC Office Hours page on Meta.

Thanks, I look forward to seeing you there if you can make it. -- Keegan (talk) 20:54, 25 June 2018 (UTC)

What properties does Commons need?[edit]

Greetings,

Structured Commons will need properties to make statements about files. The development team is working on making the software ready to support properties; the question is, what properties does Commons need?

You can find more information and examples to help find properties in a workshop on Commons. Please participate and help fill in the list, and let me know if you have any questions. Thanks! -- Keegan (WMF) (talk) 18:53, 28 June 2018 (UTC)

reduce the use of {{Object photo}} and {{Category definition: Object}} templates[edit]

Could you look at Category:Prasiolite quartz-MCG 90942 and the files inside. I was thinking about doing similar conversions to reduce the use of {{Object photo}} and {{Category definition: Object}} templates and transclusion of categories. I was thinking about starting with files using User:Rama/Catdef. What do you think about such conversion? --Jarekt (talk) 03:18, 6 July 2018 (UTC)

Oh, that decouples the description of the images from that of the category, excellent!
Do feel free to experiment on files that I have uploaded and that use User:Rama/Catdef, that was pretty much the point (well, aside from provided the images; there are a few people who have been using User:Rama/Catdef back from the time when it was the only Wikidata-powered template I knew of, for these people it might be less unsettling to convert their templates when we have a stable version, so they don't fear they are doing something wrong with their images).
By the way, do let me know if I can help in any way. I don't write you messages everything I feel grateful for your work, because it would clog your talk page, but be sure the sentiment it there — I was especially delighted when I saw the "Reference URL" field appear.
Best wishes and good continuation! Rama (talk) 07:42, 6 July 2018 (UTC)
PS: Also, your new solution does not have the bug in which photographs are put in the category of the object AND all of the category to which the object belongs, so we can dispense with the "onlyinclude" tags, which is much more elegant. Rama (talk) 08:32, 6 July 2018 (UTC)
I changed all uses of User:Rama/Catdef to {tl|{Art Photo}} templates when used in files and replaced them with {{Wikidata Infobox}} when used in Categories. Some categories still need to be added as sitelinks to wikidata but I will fix then on Monday. --Jarekt (talk) 02:11, 8 July 2018 (UTC)
Splendid ,thank you very much! Have a great week-end. Rama (talk) 08:36, 8 July 2018 (UTC)

Category:Pages using Artwork template with incorrect parameter[edit]

Hi Rama. Any idea why seven of your uploads from 2016 are in that category? --Leyo 22:17, 8 July 2018 (UTC)

Yup, the parent category had an incorrect description because it was a case that a conversion bot was not designed for but it should now be all sorted out. Thank you! Rama (talk) 07:04, 9 July 2018 (UTC)
