Re:Cross-wiki editing[edit]

... it is that :p

But hey, it works alright and we get fast responses, so why not make it easier on eachother! Now, I had better not get a response today; you should be ASLEEP! -- Editor at Largetalk 15:50, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kim Gordon[edit]

Not a problem; it obviously wasn't working right for me, either. I don't even know how to rotate images, but I saw that one of your past versions was correct, so I guess it worked out OK. -Hit bull, win steak 13:29, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I was just deleting this image when Ice Cube - You Can Do It came on the radio I'm listening to. Very weird. Anyway, thanks for the support in my RfA, I'm sure I will not disappoint you. Regards. Adambro 15:10, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bow Wow image[edit]

I noticed you copied the Bow Wow image from the original one that I uploaded. However, when I was dropping by Flickr a few minutes ago, and looked at Free6Man's photos and the image doesn't exist there anymore! So, if you have a Flickr account, you may want to ask Free6Man about the image. Yung6 22:00, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Flickr license[edit]

Everything is copyrighted is true. But they licensed the image in a way that we can use it. Just because someone licenses an image freely, doesn't mean they lose copyright. I think we can keep this a-okay. MECUtalk 01:31, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No rush, take your time.. MECU pretty much answered so if you need a few days or a week or however long don't worry about it, I'll still be around ;) -- Editor at Largetalk 06:09, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

massive...[edit]

it's done with templates, at least for all the standard wikis. Feel free to use the templates if you like. I have one more to create to address all the meta-ish ones... ++Lar: t/c 18:02, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You mean there's more? :) Yes, I'll have a crack at it once I've finished what I'm doing now, I've been meaning to make one just in case of something like this :) riana_dzasta 18:05, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Riana dzasta, congratulations! You now have the rights of administrator on Commons. Please take a moment to read the Commons:Administrators page and watchlist related pages (in particular Commons:Administrators' noticeboard and Commons:Deletion requests), before launching yourself into page deletions, page protections, account blockings or modifications of protected pages. The majority of the actions of administrators can be reversed by the other admins, except for history merges which must thus be treated with particular care.

Image:Larsson barca.jpg[edit]

Thanks for reviewing this image, I was just wondering if you know if there is a policy on commons on editing images, which I did (poorly) in this case. (original / edited). Is there some sort of task force where people who actually know a thing or two about image editing who could do a better job? Cheers, JACOPLANE • 2007-06-28 16:01

Hi!![edit]

Hi, this is Marja from the Spanish wikipedia, I loved that Amy Lee pic during Download Festival and I put it on spanish Amy Lee article. I hope you don´t mind, it is a perfect picture, and I hope you or the author don´t get mad... If you don´t agree with having the pic on the spanish wikipedia please, remove it from there. But I hope you don´t remove it... =) So, greets from Spain!

Marja

Hey, not at all, it's Commons, everyone's allowed to share :) riana_dzasta 08:28, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Riana[edit]

Hi Riana. It's me your friend King Lopez from Wikipedia. What are you doing here? It seems like you are everywhere Riana. Where is Phaedriel? I can't find her here. I am unable to log in to my username here. So I am using an IP address. Take care. King Lopez. --209.129.36.117 01:35, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

OTRS permission[edit]

What was the difference between the permission you okayed for Image:KristinGauvin.jpg and the one you rejected for Image:MurielClauson.jpg. I have contact the author of the latter image to get a more specific release, but this surprised me because the correspondance was pretty similar with both authors (by the way, I sent the two permissions from different email accounts). OTRS emails heading my way[edit]

No problem! I was having no luck with the permissions address I found here so thought I'd try the other one... seems you are on the ball! Just one thing... not sure if you've overlooked it or not but the permission for this image (which you've logged) is also for this one. All in all it's been a successful few days of image hunting... I've been pleasantly surprised by how willing people have been to release images! My "speciality" is one where it's hard to find free images so I'm smiling :) PageantUpdater 08:57, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mont Collon[edit]

Sorry you are absolutely right; it is from the German wiki site (the French one is very similar!). Here is the link. http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bild:Mont-Collon.jpg Cheers! Ericoides 06:42, 5 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey stranger :) Fancy seeing you here... anyway, I've a favor to ask: since you're a trusted user and an admin here as well (I mean, come on now. Do you ever sleep?), I was wondering if you could have a look at the above image and let me know if everything checks out? This is my first upload of a Flickr image after over a thousand of my own work, so I'm not sure if I've done everything correctly :P

I changed the file name to something humanly recognizable and messed around with the description a bit, but I don't know if there's any part of the "procedure" I missed. Thanks :) Fvasconcellos 00:47, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Ah, the categories... If only Flickr users checked our cat scheme before tagging images ;) Thanks for reviewing as well. See you around, Fvasconcellos 01:46, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sarah Chalke picture from Flickr[edit]

we are in dire need of a picture for Sarah Chalke on wikipedia. I came upon your comment on Flickr here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dnizzy22/83946419/ did you succeed in convincing dnizzy22 to make the image free for wikipedia? The picture is pretty good. I do not own a Flickr account so I can't contact him myself, but if you could try asking him again that would be really cool. I'll check back here later in case you respond.

Nope, sorry, no response :( ~ Riana 08:39, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think maybe if we could get one of Scrubs that is like promotional material? Not sure. Or maybe she has a representative that would be willing to provide us with one? No idea... ah well, ok thanks. 70.52.162.191 05:54, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hey it's me again. I will try to convince more people to release a copyright for some picture for Sarah. The problem is that I am quite new to Wikipedia and I am lost in the copyrights, I was wondering what the procedure is like once you receive permission to post someones picture from Flickr to Wikipedia. Under what category do I upload it, etc. Help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Hi, sorry about the late reply. If you manage to get a specific statement of permission from a photographer to license the photo freely, eg under the GFDL or certain Creative Commons licenses (some permissible licenses are listed here), please e-mail this correspondence to permissions@wikimedia.org, upload the image to Commons and mark it as {{OTRS pending}}. Someone will receive the correspondence and update the image to reflect this at some point. Feel free to return here should you need any more info ~ Riana 11:50, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ribery image[edit]

An image you reviewed, Image:Ribery2.jpg seems to be a cropped version of http://www.olympique-et-lyonnais.com/images/ribery.jpg . Also, it looks like the image might be a screenshot taken from a TV broadcast, so I think it might not be appropriate for commons. Cheers, JACOPLANE • 2007-08-27 14:57

Yikes, OK. I'll look into it... sometimes with flickr images it's a 'chicken or egg' thing... ~ Riana 18:22, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, since the flickr image is cropped from the other image it would seem that there is no 'chicken and egg' problem. It's also used on this page, on which all the images seem to be copyrighted. JACOPLANE • 2007-09-3 16:34
Right, deleted. Cheers ~ Riana 13:07, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Image[edit]

Can you please delete this. Thanks. Miranda 22:53, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of image BurjDubaiHeight.png[edit]

The log says you deleted this image for copyvio. That is incorrect. I, the original uploader to english wikipedia, created the image from scratch. Another user moved the image to commons. Removing this image has damaged articles in several wikipedias. Please restore it asap. en:User:Astronaut 87.113.71.149 12:08, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

We have received an OTRS complaint about this image, asserting that it was copied from this site. If you wish for another OTRS user to review this action, please contact any of the users listed here. ~ Riana 12:51, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

IRC[edit]

Hey Riana. Your userpage says you're going to be on commons so I came here. When/if you can, please come on to IRC so we can talk. I should be on for the whole day, since I have to be home for at least the next 6 hours. If for some reason you can't get on IRC, e-mail me please. TeckWiz 14:51, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You also have an e-mail now. TeckWiz 15:55, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

May you please delay some days the deletion? It's been a mistake from the author, as you can read in the flikcr picture comments he has given the permission to use it in the Wikipedia, but mistaken the license. I've already contacted him.--Friviere 12:54, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I don't understand the conversation - my knowledge of Catalan/Spanish is limited. OK, nonexistent :) - but the image currently passes flickrreview, so I won't delete it unless the flickr user or you request me to do so. Best, ~ Riana 13:01, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help needed[edit]

Dear Riana. I need your help with a very serious and annoying issue. I became a member of Wikimedia commons in order to contribute to Wikipedia as a whole. I've uploaded some very interesting and useful information connected with anthropology and history research. But the user User:ForeignerFromTheEast is constantly vandalizing my contributions by deleting the license tags. By doing this he is disturbing my contribution process. Other users have warned him for vandalism on his talk page, but he keeps on deleting the licenses and the comments on his talk page. Please check his contributions and you will see that the only thing he does is deleting my contributions. Please act by the protocol and give him a warning. This kind of behavior is not allowed on Wikimedia. With respect. Revizionist 21:18, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The user has been uploading falsified licences. All his images were deleted from the English wikipedia and now he is attempting to transfer them here. ForeignerFromTheEast 19:21, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This is not true Riana. All of the images i have uploaded are in the public domain of the Republic of Macedonia. I have made consultations with the officials in the state library before taking the photos. This user ForeignerFromTheEast is known in English wikipedia by his uncivilised behaviour. Please check his user page in en:wikipedia - Mr._Neutron=ForeignerFromTheEast. He first called himself Mr._Neuttron, but after filling his talk page with vandalism warnings from admins and other members that were terorised, he started writing by his true name. I am really sorry is I'm boring you with this kind of absurd things, but I had no choice, I'm losing precious time every day because of this person, for every single day he attacks my contributions, and some of them have been erased because of the fact that he changed the licenses. He doesn’t make contributions neither in Wikipedia neither here. Only vandalism. Please Riana. Thank you very much in advance. Revizionist 21:49, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The images are with falsified licences and this is easily verifiable. As far as your other accusations go, none of it is true, and there is very little point in trying to smear with mud users which point out missing licences. ForeignerFromTheEast 19:52, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Riana. I hope this will be solved soon. Good night and Cheers. Revizionist 22:01, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Riana PLEASE. ForeignerFromTheEast keeps on deleting the licenses. I don't know what to do. you gave him an administrative warning, but he still continues. He doesn't make any contributions, or upload interesting useful stuff. He only vandalizes other people's constructive contributions. Thanks in advance, and once again sorry. Revizionist 17:09, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I am exposing images which were deleted from the English wikipedia as having no licence, and which are now uploaded under falsified licences so that the above user can still use them in articles despite their previous deletion. ForeignerFromTheEast 15:08, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Riana thank you very much. I will talk to the head of the department for ethnology and modern history and they will write a document stamped with the official stamp of the library, and also I will give them your mail. I have used "pd-self" license for those photos that I have taken (that is, the pictures I took from the photos in the library and archives). I am new in Wikimedia and i am not familiar with the licenses, and I will appreciate that you will change and put an appropriate license when I take the document. I will ask them, and they will surely agree. That will happen some time next week. BUT please Riana, tell ForeignerFromTheEast, or put him under administrative ban until I provide this document. I want you to stop him from changing the license. Please write soon. With great respect. Revizionist 21:54, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually you should be "put under ban" as you are clearly putting falsified licences and recreating deleted content. ForeignerFromTheEast 20:08, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings Riana, here's the outside observer's comment. I've been busy trying to oversee these image issues over at en-wiki. I guess both sides have some points here. Revisionist is a good-faith contributor but has had some issues with dodgy understanding of image copyrights; F.f.t.E is on something of a crusade using copyright arguments to win POV disputes and he sometimes overdoes it. This situation needs looking into. Please contact me on en-wiki if you need more background info. Thanks, Future Perfect at Sunrise 16:28, 2 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oggin60s_CDex_1.ogg/Oggin60s_CDex_2.ogg[edit]

Hi, you deleted one of Oggin60s_CDex_2.ogg, Oggin60s_CDex_1.ogg was also deleted for copyright violation. Could you please provide further details so I can fix this and hopefully re-upload the instructional videos? I had been informed that screenshots featuring free software were probably acceptable Commons:Help_desk#Howto_videos

The software itself might be free but you are using it on Windows, which is not free. If you can crop the image so as to exclude the elements of the Windows interface, or if you can run the software on a free operating system like Ubuntu etc, then the image will be fine. ~ Riana 15:49, 4 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Petr Cech 2.jpg[edit]

Hi Riana, it's been pointed out to me that Image:Petr Cech 2.jpg is not actually a picture of Petr Cech, but of Carlo Cudicini. Could you perhaps delete the image, since the name as it is not is not correct. Thanks, JACOPLANE • 2007-10-7 08:43

✓ Done :) ~ Riana 08:45, 7 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Your comments are welcome in the subject conversation. Thanks!   — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 02:15, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Riana, I wonder how this image passed your (for sure) painstaking review. Did the original uploader change his licensing? Regards, Code·is·poetry 09:54, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That sounds about right! I'll mail the Flickr to enquire what their original intentions were. ~ Riana 12:02, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
