Category:Höfner bass controller[edit]

Hello. I really don't think it is a good idea to create that category. It is the same "look and feel" than any others guitar controllers, only the "skin" change. Then, for video games, it is more usefull to merge all guitar controllers into an own category. I really don't think we will create one day categories for all guitar models of all existing video games. ~ bayo or talk 19:06, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi, Bayo.
"Category:Höfner guitars" is a category for real guitar instrument. We should distinguish "video game controllers" from "real guitar instruments".
Note: The images under "Category:Höfner bass controller" had been added to "Category:Höfner guitars" by some users in last a few months ([1],[2],[3]), so I moved these to sub category. --Shoulder-synth (talk) 02:31, 22 November 2009 (UTC) [modified] --Shoulder-synth (talk) 02:51, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

Unidentified?[edit]

Re: this edit, in what sense are musical saws "unidentified"? - Jmabel ! talk 07:38, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi, Jmabel.
In Category:Musical instruments, each instrument category should be sub-categorized under Category:Musical instruments classification. If you know what musical instrument class is suited for Category:Musical saw, please move it.
best regards, --Shoulder-synth (talk) 07:45, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
Will do. When you have a tricky intention like that - after all, the instrument itself is not unidentified - use an HTML comment to clarify your intent. - Jmabel ! talk 20:43, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
Please read carefully the template message on Category:Unidentified musical instruments:
This category contains unidentified, unclassified, unknown or mislabelled musical instruments. We would value your expertise to identify these images and find their rightful places in the appropriate category structure. The images should probably be placed in subcategories of Category:musical instruments. Thank you very much.
--Shoulder-synth (talk) 01:23, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

Note: Probably you don't see this message, but I add this note as reminder of myself... The reason I've moved Category:Musical saw to Category:Unidentified musical instruments is following:
When I found this category about a year ago, Category:Musical saw was placed on top of Category:Musical instruments. The tone generating mechanism of Musical saw seems to be similar to Lamellaphones, and Lamellaphones has not yet established classification (as for Category:Scientific musical instruments classification), thus, probably someone move both categories on top of Category:Musical instruments as unclassified musical instruments. But this place is not for unidentified things, thus I've moved these to Category:Unidentified musical instruments.

By the way, the category of musical saw seems to be not only the friction w:en:idiophones as described in en:Musical saw. Because it is originally not the musical instrument but the carpenter's tool, and it is played with various way: bowing (as friction idiophones), plucking (as plucked idiophones), waving or struck (as membranophones ?), and swing (as blown idiophones). The problem is that when standard/scientific classification was defined, metal thin plate like a handsaw was not considered as a tone generating system, IMO. How hard musical instruments classification is ! --Shoulder-synth (talk) 03:48, 30 January 2010 (UTC)

The Vera Project[edit]

You put Category:The Vera Project in Category:Sound reinforcement systems. Not sure what you intended, but this is almost certainly wrong. A venue isn't a sound reinforcement system. - Jmabel ! talk 20:43, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

The Category:The Vera Project provides excellent image set about "Sound reinforcement systems". That's all. --Shoulder-synth (talk)

Original uploader on english wikipedia said that
08:54, 13 November 2007 A photograph I took from the book I wrote and edited. I own all copyrights and content rights
09:06, 13 November 2007 Photo taken by myself of the book I wrote, all copyrights are with me
so, I think this image is not violated with copyright. --Shoulder-synth (talk) 06:28, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
In this case the uploader must follow the procedure described in COM:OTRS and clarify the situation, especially regarding the artwork on the front cover. Sv1xv (talk) 06:53, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for your advice.
BTW: In this case, which person is uploader ? original uploader or me ? (I think it may be hard to contact to orignal uploader) --Shoulder-synth (talk) 07:03, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
The original uploader, who claims to own the copyright. Sv1xv (talk) 07:29, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
I send a message to author of the book. --Shoulder-synth (talk) 08:22, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

done: The permission was verified and archived in the Wikimedia OTRS system [4]. --Shoulder-synth (talk) 04:20, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
