Hello, Siska.Doviana!

Tip: Add categories to your images

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

Uploadwizard-categories.png

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations"). Pro-tip: The CommonSense tool can help you find the best category for your image.

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

File:Own picture 300.jpg and File:Siska Doviana.JPG[edit]

Hi Siska, did you really shoot these images by yourself? --Túrelio (talk) 08:21, 14 November 2012 (UTC)

Of course, I'm talented like that :D hehehe Siska.Doviana (talk) 05:07, 13 January 2013 (UTC)

Turelio, I added your information request directly to the page. Can Commons lighten up on this? An activist just commit suicide in which Lessig believe the disease for being too strict :p Siska.Doviana (talk) 05:14, 13 January 2013 (UTC)
I am aware of Aarons death, actually I had added his name[1] to Commons:RIP this night. However, I do not get your "message", if there is some. --Túrelio (talk) 16:40, 13 January 2013 (UTC)

I think the message is lighten up, too strict, you (commons) scaring people off. I need to stand to see multiple perhaps hundreds Indonesian image deleted because some copyright policy that was not strictly implemented in Indonesia is strictly implemented in commons. Lighten up. Siska.Doviana (talk) 10:15, 16 January 2013 (UTC)

So, as any misunderstanding has been removed now, you really have no shame to liken me — or Commons sysops in general (as enforcers of Commons' policy) — to the allegedly bullying[2] US prosecutors in Aaron's case and to compare the as-alleged-by-you "scaring people off" [Commons] to the alleged driven-into suicide of Aaron Swartz.
I am speechless about such an abuse of the sad suicide of Aaron for your own purposes. This is disgusting and inacceptable, the more as it comes from an academic, who should know his words, and from a Wikimedia official.
As I have no ill will against you, I give you 24 hours to remove/correct this allegation. Otherwise, I will open a public discussion. --Túrelio (talk) 12:00, 16 January 2013 (UTC)

split from the above thread[edit]

Hi Siska, if File:Siska Doviana.JPG was shot by your brother, you need to put his name into the author entry, except he doesn't want that. --Túrelio (talk) 16:40, 13 January 2013 (UTC)

I did, look at the description box

No, you did not. You had written it only into the description. The author entry still says "Siska.Doviana"[3]. This is legally relevant, as re-users of a CC-BY-licensed images have to credit the name in the author entry or in the license template. Both are still wrong. --Túrelio (talk) 12:00, 16 January 2013 (UTC)
I also would like to rename File:Own picture 300.jpg, as it has an inappropriate filename. Any wishes for that? --Túrelio (talk) 16:40, 13 January 2013 (UTC)

Why?

I had already written "inappropriate filename"; filenames should be descriptive, "Own picture 300" is not. For further reading see Template:Please name images/en and Commons:File naming. --Túrelio (talk) 12:00, 16 January 2013 (UTC)

JUST DELETE IT, DELETE IT ALL[edit]

End of conversation. I don't care. Do whatever you like with it, obviously you have too much time in your hand. Siska.Doviana (talk) 09:10, 25 January 2013 (UTC)
