Read the rules for file renaming![edit]

Reference: Special:Diff/267319569/290789916 which is related to Special:Diff/290696157/290784205 and Special:Diff/290788773/290789693.

Please, read the the rules in Commons:File renaming. Especially you should understand that Commons is a multilingual project, hence filenames not in English are allowed and in fact very often seen. — Speravir – 04:38, 5 March 2018 (UTC)

I wasn't changing the non-English part, I was changing the nonsense numbers to reflect that this is one of three color variants. You should assume good faith, and don't ascribe motives that are not there to other users.--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 04:43, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
First, you could answer on your own talk page. Second, yes, you are right with the language part, sorry for that. But the "nonsense part" is this what makes it "not ambiguous", though I think (like you I guess) this is an awful kind of distinction. — Speravir – 04:53, 5 March 2018 (UTC)

File:Maria Theresa of Spain on horseback.jpg[edit]

Hello, I requested the above image be moved to a more informative name and you were the user who ended up renaming the file but I had to say you've given her the wrong/incorrect name. She waas Maria T(h)eresa of Austria. Not of Spain. 10:12, 11 March 2018 (UTC)

Well, the file source and several Wikipedias beg to differ from you. Yes, I know, in strict sense her name was Maria Teresa of Austria, but there was another famous woman from Austria who could be confused with her. — Speravir – 17:02, 11 March 2018 (UTC)

OK, da haste Recht. mm — Speravir – 21:15, 4 April 2018 (UTC)

Re: Village Pump: feature for importing files from local wikis to Wikimedia Commons can now be tested[edit]

Hello, thanks again for replying to my question about the Original Upload Log on the Commons Village Pump. My question was related to a functionality for importing files from local wikis to Wikimedia Commons that WMDE’s Technical Wishes team is currently working on. I wanted to let you know that there is now a testable alpha version of this feature. Here’s more information on the planned feature and how to test it:

Template published[edit]

Hello Speravir, is it your own decision to move the template {{Published}} to the talk page of the file ? Olivier LPB (talk) 11:42, 18 April 2018 (UTC)

Depends on what you count as my own decision, Olivier. It already has been stated in the documentation of template {{Published}} that it belongs on the talk page, and I concur with this. I yesterday made some changes to the template and so I also added an error message if it is used on the file description page, but it still can be used on user pages (I know at least one who seems to prefer collecting the publication of his files in his space). As consequence I have to deal with moving the template. — Speravir – 16:28, 18 April 2018 (UTC)

Archiving by week[edit]

Hi. I don't want to reopen the discussion after your close, but do we have bots on Commons that can archive by week? Weeks are not covered at en:User:MiszaBot/Archive HowTo.   — Jeff G. ツ please ping or talk to me 00:08, 6 May 2018 (UTC)

Jeff, I only referred to German Auskunft (reference desk). There the archiving is by week. And because it is sorted on date of the topic starter usually the archival link can be forecasted. — Speravir – 00:13, 6 May 2018 (UTC)

Commons:Undeletion requests[edit]

hi Mr. Speravir, I am writing to ask you if you could kindly a small list of files to be included in the aforementioned page, unfortunately I can not do it directly, because my request would be deleted without even being taken into account-- 19:06, 9 July 2018 (UTC)

No, go to Village Pump and ask there. — Speravir – 20:12, 9 July 2018 (UTC)

Logo for the beta feature FileExporter.svg

-- Viele Grüße, Johanna Strodt (WMDE) (talk) 10:47, 12 July 2018 (UTC)
