Map for Cotingidae[edit]

Hello, I wonder if you would be able to produce a nice map like this:

Manakin (Pipridae) Area

In order to complete my edition of https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cotingidae

The map could be based on IBC (same as Pipridae) http://ibc.lynxeds.com/family/cotingas-cotingidae

Map for Vireonidae[edit]

Hello friend, good morning, Currently working on edition of https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vireonidae and missing a nice map as you made for Cotingidae. You can base it on http://ibc.lynxeds.com/family/vireos-vireonidae Grateful --Hector Bottai (talk) 11:28, 25 June 2016 (UTC)

Hi, Is it ok in blue? --Termininja (talk) 21:25, 26 June 2016 (UTC)
Perfect!! Many thanks. I personally like more the dark red. But is up to you. Soon you will see a complete and extensive update of the ES - Vireonidae page.--Hector Bottai (talk) 22:08, 27 June 2016 (UTC)

Renaming proposals[edit]

Please stop proposing new file names for files that do actually not need a new name. Adding “(fossil)” to an existing file name that is spelled correctly and also is taxonomically correct (even a junior synonym would be acceptable) is not necessary at all. --Gretarsson (talk) 10:13, 2 January 2017 (UTC)

Actually in most of the cases I propose more meaningful names, as species's name than genus, which is obviously necessary. Same thing with the fossils. Read more carefully here. Regards :) --Termininja (talk) 10:28, 2 January 2017 (UTC)
There are categories and there are file descriptions. There is no need to further specifiy file names as long as they are sufficiently precise. A genus name is sufficiently precise, at least in cases in which there are only few if not only one single species in that genus. Otherwise thousands and thousands of not-100%-precise file names would have to be changed. Furthermore, you nominate the old file names (i.e. the old file pages, serving as a redirect after the renaming) for deletion. This is a bad idea, especially in those cases in which the file is on commons for several years, because deletion of the old page would break links from outside wikimedia projects.
Indeed there are file names with incorrect spellings and really meaningless names such as 12345.jpg. Please focus on these with your renaming proposals. --Gretarsson (talk) 10:54, 2 January 2017 (UTC)
The "braking links" is a good reason. Thanks for the info. --Termininja (talk) 11:00, 2 January 2017 (UTC)
