First steps tutorial

Our first steps help file and our FAQ will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy. You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing here and assume good faith for the intentions of others. This is a wiki ‒ it is really easy.

Getting help

More information is available at the Community Portal. You may ask questions at the Help desk, Village Pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (direct access). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at Commons talk:Licensing.

Goodies, tips and tricks
  • Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your Graphics abilities.
  • All your uploads are stored in your personal Gallery
  • Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~
  • Use the CommonSense tool to find good categories for your files (then other people can find them too!)
  • To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:Image:Foo.jpg]], which produces: Image:Foo.jpg
  • If you're copying files from another project, be sure to use the CommonsHelper

  • Did you want to rename or move a file? Simply upload the file again and mark the old one like this: {{bad name|Correct name}}

Churches in XXX Municipality[edit]

In my opinion, it is not a good idea to put categories like Category:Churches in Tierp Municipality‎ in the category for churches by province, in this case Category:Churches in Uppland. Municipality borders and province borders do not always coincide. It is better to keep the current system, where each church category is placed in its proper province category. --Zejo (talk) 15:04, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have removed Category:Churches in Tierp Municipality‎ from Category:Churches in Uppland because Tierp Municipality is at the border of Uppland. I have decided to let Category:Churches in Norrtälje Municipality‎ remain in Category:Churches in Uppland because Norrtälje Municipality does not share border with Uppland. Bra, då kan vi prata svenska:-) Om Category:Churches in Norrtälje Municipality‎ ska vara kvar i Category:Churches in Uppland ska i så fall alla underliggande kategorier och media tas bort från Category:Churches in Uppland, annar blir det "överkategorisering". Jag tycker det blir en olycklig inkonsekvens om vissa kommuners kyrkokategorier ska kategoriseras efter landskap och inte andra. --Zejo (talk) 19:27, 21 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

KMB bilder[edit]

Hej. Jag ser att du tidigare laddat upp bilder från Kulturmiljöbild. Jag ville bara tipsa om {{KMB-link}} som ger en persistent länk till KMB. Fyll helt enkelt in id numret (från http://kmb.raa.se/ url:en) som parameter i mallen. /Lokal_Profil 12:53, 6 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hej igen. Ett nytt KMB tips. Om du använder detta verktyget så genereras automatiskt (bas)inforutan + filnamn med hjälp av den metadata som finns hos KMB. Detta gör även att den nya mallen {{Kulturmiljöbild-image}} används. /Lokal_Profil 19:36, 7 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Det är inte så svärt som det först verkar. Du behöver enbart det nummer som du tidigare använde i KMB-linkmallen. När du väl är på rätt sida så behöver du spara originalbilden (högerklicka på "here" och välj spara som). KOpiera sedan kopiera sedan texten och tryck på "the upload page". Klistra in texten i rutan och blädra fram bilden.
Arbetar på att göra det smidigare så att verktyget själv laddar upp bilden men det finns fortfarande lita att göra innan det är färdigt. /Lokal_Profil 21:51, 9 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Du får det här meddelandet eftersom du tidigare har bidragit med bilder till de svenska deltävlingarna av Wiki Loves Earth eller Wiki Loves Monuments. Jag hoppas att du vill vara med i år också! Som vanligt ingår naturreservat och nationalparker, biosfärområden och naturminnen i tävlingen! Nytt för i år är att vi utöver bästa foto även belönar fotograferande av tidigare ofotograferade objekt samt bästa bildserie om minst tio fotografier av samma objekt. Tävlingen börjar 1 maj, och pågår under hela maj månad. Om du har varit ute i världen och rest kan du även se om resorna sammanfaller med övriga internationella deltävlingar, och i så fall vara med och tävla även där. Expeditioner, fotosafari eller en helt vanlig promenad? Via en smidig karta som visar ditt närområde hittar du bra ställen att besöka – eller varför inte damma av fotoalbumen och tävla med bilder du har tagit tidigare?

Stockholm county by year[edit]

Hi, I noticed you removed the Stockholm county template on certain pages to put the Sweden year template instead. What the f*** were you doing? Is this just vandalism or what? Stockholm county is a county from Sweden, not a european country. Country templates have nothing to do on lower levels pages, especially that there is a special template.
