Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~. To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg. You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account. There are several tools to upload files. Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful. Made a mistake? Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it. Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

The file in question was an image of a Korean pop star taken from her band's web page. The band owns the copyright to that image, not you. WikiDan61 (talk) 05:02, 21 July 2012 (UTC)

I took the photograph. I work with the Humanities Truck, which is mentioned on my user page. You will see in the EXIF data "Julie Hawks" is the artist. If you go to the Humanities Truck site http://humanitiestruck.com/people/ you will see me listed as staff. Also, when uploading the photo, I marked the box that stated the work was mine. Please remove the copyright violation. Wikimedia accounts are anonymous, so there's no way for me or anyone else to know that you are the owner of the photograph. The fact that the photograph was previously published on the Humanities Truck website, where a claim of copyright was made, prevents its use here. I'm not an expert on copyright law, and you might want to seek advice from others on this site who are more expert than I regarding how to upload such an image. Alternatively, you could just take another picture of the truck, not publish it elsewhere, and upload that here. WikiDan61 (talk) 12:59, 16 November 2018 (UTC)

Hello! The subject of the image, Heidi Weisel, provided the image to me for this piece. She owns it. @Dakotajone: The fact that there is a prior publication history makes publication here problematic. I've copied CFDA's relevant "Terms and Conditions" section to File talk:Heidi Weisel Headshot 1.png. You should explain the ownership issue at there and see what the admins have to say. Liyann Seet's Infobox photo

Dear WikiDan61,

Good day. I was the photographer of the photo and I have created the work entirely by myself. The model (Liyann Seet) has also granted permission for me to upload the photograph on Wikipedia. If required, she can verify that she has granted permission for the use of photo. I am new to Wikipedia. Please teach me open a regular deletion request and remove speedy deletion template. Your help is greatly appreciated.

@Tatianajames: The page on which the image appears claims copyright for "Evensi" (the website on which it appears). The caption you gave the photo indicates that it was taken from a watch ad. Presumably either the watch company that commissioned the ad or the website own the copyright. Under most circumstances, neither the photographer who took the picture nor the model who appeared in the photo would retain copyrights on the image. For you to claim that you are the photographer who took the picture, and that you have permission to publish the picture under a license compatible with Wikimedia commons (where anyone else in the world would be free to use the image for any purpose they chose, an amount of freedom that seems unlikely for an advertising photo), you'd have to provide evidence of ownership. A better plan, since you appear to have a relationship with the subject, would be to obtain a new, previously unpublished photo that you could then upload and release under the CCSA3.0 license. @WikiDan61: The best way to provide the evidence of ownership and prove that permission has been granted to use the photo will be for the watch company, website and model to verify and validate the information. I will get them to contact Wikipedia directly to validate and provide the ownership and permission. @Gråbergs Gråa Sång: How embarassing! I'm glad they left me as "an anonymous Wikipedia user"! I will note that the current Wikimedia version still appears incorrect as the color of the keys and other "gold" details in the coat of arms section appears too dark, compared to the Vatican's official version. Shall I call you Sheldon Cooper? (IYKYK) In any case, yes, I created the great Commons Vatican Flag kerfuffle. To be fair, I did not create the image of the flag with a red interior for the tiara; that image exists in the world prior to my creation of the Commons SVG file. For example: this image taken in 2008, or this one from 1969. It seems even the Vatican itself is not clear on the design of its flag. I appreciate your reply and I understand not going off-wiki. Definitely not pulling as many guest stars as Sheldon. I agree that it's a pre-existing variant, and I feel accusations of it being "wrong" is unfair/misinformed. I will let you go since this discussion is no longer related to Wiki matters. Cheers! Error in SVG

Hi, you uploaded File:Chine_log.svg, which doesn't work. Clicking on the raw link indicates an error in the SVG file. As such, I am restoring the original .png version to the Wikipedia article that uses it. You can revert it back after it's fixed. ~Anachronist (talk) 05:51, 16 May 2025 (UTC)

Dan, the University Marketing and Communications Department where I work created (took) this photo. I have the original file and all others taken before and after it. We are the copyright owner. @Astateanderson: Based on your contesting of the copyvio claim, I've deleted the copyvio tag and created a deletion discussion instead. You are free to add your comments to that discussion. But since the image metadata contains a copyright claim, it is unlikely that the image can be used here at Commons without at least an OTRS request. WikiDan61 (talk) 15:29, 23 July 2025 (UTC)

@Astateanderson: Further: you claim that you work for Arizona State University and that your University has granted you permission to release their copyrighted images under the Commons license. However, we have no way of verifying that information.
