beyond AGF

You asked me to AGF with regard to this matter before, I'm afraid I am having difficulty in doing that. The User:WayneRay account was misusing a policy to make a large number of edits, and is now (I find) wilfully ignoring the consensus that unequivocally contradicts the alleged basis for this disruption. Since I last bothered to elicit some rationale from that user, I see that he has been causing further exasperation in our community. Can you advise me on how one might achieve a resolution to this pointless disruption? Cygnis insignis (talk) 04:22, 8 November 2008 (UTC)

P.S. I was prompted by this which was recently corrected by a bot. 04:27, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
Please try to be patient in your communications with WayneRay. Since you didn't provide a diff in your first communication,[1] it is understandable that he did not recall the October 22 edit that prompted your comment. Thank you for providing that diff in your following communicaton.[2] But, please avoid comments like, "[y]ou are pushing a personal POV, if not some form of elaborate trolling". That is a personal attack and is unlikely to be helpful. Instead, if the problem persists and you are not able to resolve the issue though patience and understanding, please bring it to COM:AN or the appropriate subpage. But, I don't think you are to that point yet, unless the October 22 edit is part of a continuing pattern of behavior and that WayneRay doesn't respond to your efforts to communicate with him.
I can't help wondering if you couldn't help matters by creating and populating Category:Alois Auer? It seems to me that Category:Botanical illustrations is too broad to be very helpful. Walter Siegmund (talk) 16:18, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, but you must have noticed your link was blue already. I confessed to my lack of AGF, it is difficult to see it any other way. I suspect if I did not make these assertions, the user/s would be degrading or deleting my uploads more often than every couple of months. It has made me very reluctant to contribute here, there is little point when I would have to personally defend legitimate and useful content. Large-scale unilateral decision-making is highly disruptive! It is an ongoing pattern of behaviour, and it impolite of the user to ignore the presented issues and treat it as a new problem. I contend that you are being a little selective in choosing which trangressions are worth pointing out, unless you communicate with regulars by different means. I created Category:Botanical illustrators to accomodate Auer and the others I'm interested in, I kicked off a gallery to start diffusing the same group. I have no hesitancy in inviting others to review my contributions, if you are interested please comment on how they might be improved. Cygnis insignis (talk) 17:28, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
I'm sorry. I didn't notice that you'd already created Category:Alois Auer. I wonder if Category:Botanical illustrations by Alois Auer (or something similar) might be a better name? I don't mean to be selective. If you bring examples of problems by others to my attention, I'll attempt to intervene. But, attacks on others are not a good way to make progress. Instead, please involve the broader community by posting on COM:AN or its subpage. Walter Siegmund (talk) 01:32, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

RE: APWebsite

Restoring it and moving it is fine with me. I even offered to restore the page before. It clearly did not belong in the Gallery namespace though, as you seem to agree. Thanks for the note. - Rjd0060 (talk) 15:57, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

I agree. I saw your offer to restore the page, so I didn't think it merited further discussion in view of its history. Walter Siegmund (talk) 16:04, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
That is where Cronquist System, APG II, Strasburger and Smith others are; in the gallery space.... -- carol (talk) 16:18, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Image:Pinus ponderosa 17040.JPG

Hi Walter - the centre tree in this pic is Pinus monticola; P. ponderosa foliage over to the left edge - MPF (talk) 15:02, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

Thank you. I edited the caption of Image:Pinus_ponderosa_17037.JPG accordingly. Best wishes, Walter Siegmund (talk) 16:28, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
Thanks! For clarity, 17037 shows 3 different trees - that's Pseudotsuga menziesii on the left, Pinus ponderosa centre right, and P. monticola far right ;-) MPF (talk) 21:52, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
I expanded the description to add Pseudotsuga menziesii. Walter Siegmund (talk) 00:32, 23 November 2008 (UTC)
