Zu meiner Vorgehensweise: Best practice (deutsch). Und es sei erwähnt, dass ich gleichartige und eher langweilige Änderungen mit einem Bot erledige. So manche in den Augen des Betrachters sinnlose Änderung einfacher Natur wird automatisch irgendwann wieder rückgängig gemacht, sinnvoll erscheinende oder immer wieder durch Dritte aus meiner Sicht eher unwichtige Änderungen werden von mir im Bot aufgenommen, so dass alle meine Bilder davon profitieren. |

- @Prototyperspective: First of all, I would like to ask you to ask questions on my talk page. I have moved your question to my talk page and asked for the category talk page to be deleted. Unfortunately, with the scattered requests, I don't always notice when people answer or ask. “Temporary” does not mean that the files themselves are temporary. It is a category where files are temporarily included for further processing. I have two of these categories. In one, my bot stops further processing or adds files there if there are irregularities; in the other, this is done manually, but the bot does not stop. Incidentally, there are currently files in the category with “(2)” at the end that still require manual reworking in the descriptions. And for your peace of mind: This should be done by the weekend. The stay of the files in this category is short. And please note that this is a user category. –XRay 💬 04:40, 3 September 2024 (UTC)
- Okay no problem, I asked there in case somebody else is also wondering about this at some point where they could then find the info on the talk page. Thanks for clarifying, I think it would be good to add this info to the category in the cat description to avoid confusion which is relevant because you're photos are high-quality so it's not unlikely some people go by that category or see int in the cats and wonder whether it means your photos are temporary (e.g. just temporarily CCBY or just temporarily on WMC). - @Prototyperspective: The category has existed for around 10 years now and so far nobody has thought to misunderstand its purpose. The pictures are usually only in there for a short time, a few days at most. And granting a license only temporarily contradicts the license conditions and temporary participation in a competition makes little sense. Even temporary storage in Wikimedia Commons contradicts the license terms. --XRay 💬 15:32, 3 September 2024 (UTC)

Feature news
- Starting this week, the standard syntax highlighter will receive new colors that make them compatible in dark mode. This is the first of many changes to come as part of a major upgrade to syntax highlighting. You can learn more about what's to come on the help page. [1][2]
- Editors of wikis using Wikidata will now be notified of only relevant Wikidata changes in their watchlist. This is because the Lua functions
entity:getSitelink()andmw.wikibase.getSitelink(qid)will have their logic unified for tracking different aspects of sitelinks to reduce junk notifications from inconsistent sitelinks tracking. [3]
Project updates
- Users of all Wikis will have access to Wikimedia sites as read-only for a few minutes on September 25, starting at 15:00 UTC. This is a planned datacenter switchover for maintenance purposes. - Contributors of 11 Wikipedias, including English will have a new

DEFAULTSORT-Terminus

ich bin da in den letzten zwei Tagen auf einige kürzlich von Dir vorgenomme Ergänzungen von DEFAULTSORT in Kategorien für Personen gestoßen, die in die Wartungskategorie Category:Pages with DEFAULTSORT conflicts laufen bzw. liefen; dies, weil das Format des DEFAULTSORT-Begriffs nicht korrekt angelegt ist.
Korrektes Format: Nachname direkt gefolgt von einem Komma dann ein einzelnes Leerzeichen und Vorname(n)
Beispiel: {{DEFAULTSORT:Gunter Feist}} --> {{DEFAULTSORT:Feist, Gunter}}

- Kein Problem. Ich mache das ehrlicherweise mit einem Skript, aber das hat jetzt eine mehrmonatige Erprobungsphase hinter sich und es sind die letzten Korrekturen, die ich anbringe. Es läuft unter meinem Account, damit ich ggf. Zurücksetzungen sehe und eingreifen kann. Leerzeile vor den Kategorien
[edit]Hallo XRay, mir ist aufgefallen, dass Du in letzter Zeit massenhaft solche Änderungen durchführst. Übersehe ich irgendwas, oder haben diese Edits absolut keinerlei Auswirkungen? Zumindest kann ich keine erkennen. Ich halte diese Edits daher für unsinnig, da sie ohne jede Wirkung nur die Versionsgeschichte aufblähen und die Beobachtungsliste zumüllen. - Entschuldige bitte, aber solche Edits sind einfach nur Unsinn. Ob da an dritter Stelle ein u oder ein ü steht, macht faktisch keinen Unterschied. - Sorry, aber ich sinniere noch über die pauschalen Aussagen "zumüllen" und "Unsinn" anhand einiger, sagen wir mal, unglücklicher Bearbeitungen. Das scheinen ja moderne Umgangsformen zu sein, denen ich mich aber nicht anschließen möchte. Nichtsdestotrotz werde ich die Genauigkeit weiter verbessern, aber mich wundert es derzeit schon, wo oft derartige Fälle auftreten. Damit hatte ich ehrlicherweise nicht gerechnet. Improvements and Maintenance

Everyone is also encouraged to continue adding new wishes.- The new automated Special:NamespaceInfo page helps editors understand which namespaces exist on each wiki, and some details about how they are configured. - References Check is a feature that encourages editors to add a citation when they add a new paragraph to a Wikipedia article. For a short time, the corresponding tag "Edit Check (references) activated" was erroneously being applied to some edits outside of the main namespace. This has been fixed. [7]
- It is now possible for a wiki community to change the order in which a page’s categories are displayed on their wiki. By default, categories are displayed in the order they appear in the wikitext. Now, wikis with a consensus to do so can request a configuration change to display them in alphabetical order. [8]
Tool authors can now access ToolsDB's public databases from both Quarry and Superset. Those databases have always been accessible to every Toolforge user, but they are now more broadly accessible, as Quarry can be accessed by anyone with a Wikimedia account. In addition, Quarry's internal database can now be queried from Quarry itself. This database contains information about all queries that are being run and starred by users in Quarry. This information was already public through the web interface, but you can now query it using SQL. You can read more about that, and 20 other community-submitted tasks that were resolved last week.- Any pages or tools that still use the very old CSS classes

Technical project updates
- Next week, all Wikimedia wikis will be read-only for a few minutes. This will start on September 25 at 15:00 UTC. This is a planned datacenter switchover for maintenance purposes. This maintenance process also targets other services. The previous switchover took 3 minutes, and the Site Reliability Engineering teams use many tools to make sure that this essential maintenance work happens as quickly as possible. [10]
