New Gallery pages

Of course any exceptional photo can become FP, and we usually create the galleries as photos get promoted and the sum of them outgrow the existing galleries. But we realized that people are less likely to be positive to photo styles and techniques if a gallery didn't already exist. Frustrating! So we are going to fix that, for more diversified FPs.

We are just beginning this, so if I've missed some of your photos that you want to move to the new galleries, please do so. Thank you for helping out with adding the categories. --Cart (talk) 21:07, 18 November 2023 (UTC)

Intentional Camera Movement

Hallo Dietmar, danke für Deine Nominierung Commons:Featured picture candidates/File:Japanischer Ahorn -- 2023 -- 9280.jpg, auch wenn sie wahrscheinlich nicht erfolgreich gewesen wäre. Ich finde das Bild schon deshalb sehr spannend, weil solche Experiemente mir helfen, die Wirkung des Verwackelns besser zu verstehen und damit umgekehrt auch, wann und warum ein Bild scharf ist. Als Anfänger denkt man ja, dass Kamerawackeln oder Bewegungsunschärfe (des Objekts) oder falsches Scharfstellen oder … alle dasselbe Ergebnis haben, nämlich ein weichgezeichnetes Bild. Das stimmt aber nicht, die Folgen der verschiedenen Probleme können sehr unterschiedlich aussehen. Um sie zu erkennen und dadurch entweder zu vermeiden oder bewusst einzusetzen, sind solche Experimentalbilder sehr hilfreich. Beste Grüße von Roman / --Aristeas (talk) 15:06, 21 November 2023 (UTC)

Danke für deinen Kommentar. Ich hatte mir ehrlicherweise auch gar keine Chancen ausgerechnet. Es ging mir mehr darum, andere Bilder zu zeigen. Ich weiß, das ist ein wenig nickelig. In der letzten Zeit habe ich so viele tolle Bilder gesehen, die mit Hilfe von ICM gemacht wurden. Manche sehen schon aus wie Gemälde. Derzeit experimentiere ich damit, auch weil ein Fotokollege damit wunderbare Ergebnisse erzielt hat. Mir ist das bei FP manchmal zu gradlinig. Es ist zwar durchaus schwer, von der Linie abzuweichen, auch weil es manchmal ziemlich derbe bis unverschämte Kritiken gibt. (Gut, mir fallen da nur ein bis zwei Leute ein, aber immerhin.) Insofern bin ich auch sehr dankbar für die neuen Galerieseiten, die diese Fotothemen in den Fokus rücken. Und sobald ich wieder ein mich faszinierendes Bild habe, wird auch das wieder nominiert - vielleicht (oder besser hoffentlich) mit besseren Chancen. --XRay 💬 15:29, 21 November 2023 (UTC)

• The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 28 November. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 29 November. It will be on all wikis from 30 November (calendar). There is no new MediaWiki version next week. [7][8]
• MediaWiki's JavaScript system will now allow async/await syntax in gadgets and user scripts. Gadget authors should remember that users' browsers may not support it, so it should be used appropriately. [9]
• The deployment of "Add a link" announced last week was postponed. It will resume this week.

Koordinaten

Hallo XRay, besten Dank für die Stimme für mein Bild File:Potentilla frigida RF.jpg und für den Kommentar zu den Geokoordinaten! Leider hatte ich vor 2015 keine Möglichkeit, GPS-Koordinaten aufzuzeichnen und das Bild ist von 2009. Ich könnte da höchstens analog zu File:Saxifraga oppositifolia 2 RF.jpg vorgehen und einfach irgendeinen Punkt zwischen den Bahnstationen Riffelberg und Rotenboden (Gornergratbahn) einzeichnen und dann noch eine umfangreiche Warnung in die Description schreiben. Soll ich das tun? Meiner Ansicht nach nützt das nicht viel, zumal in der Description die entsprechenden Links sind. @Robert Flogaus-Faust: Es ist nett, dass du fragst. Geokoordinaten sind nett, aber nicht zwingend. Bei Pflanzen finde ich das sinnvoll, damit man weiß, wo derartige Pflanzen wachsen. Aber du hast schon passende Kategorien angegeben, das reicht eigentlich. Die Bewertung beeinflusst das auch nicht. Früher (vor meiner aktuellen Kamera) habe ich die Geokoordinaten per Smartphone mitgeschrieben oder nachträglich gesetzt - zum Beispiel mit Adobe Lightroom. Aber auch das automatische Aufzeichnen kennt Grenzen, denn in Wäldern oder zwischen Häusern hält sich die Genauigkeit in Grenzen. Wenn's zu ungenau ist oder der genaue Ort nicht bekanntgegeben werden soll, nutze ich zusätzlich das Template {{Location rounded}}. Vielleicht ist das ja auch eine Idee für dich. --XRay 💬 10:00, 30 November 2023 (UTC)

O.k., das habe ich mal gemacht, obwohl die Koordinaten leider auch nicht genauer sein können als die Angaben in der Description. Das Templat ist auch eigentlich nicht für den Zweck gedacht, da es ja hier nicht um den Datenschutz geht und es mir egal wäre, wenn es jemand besser weiß und bessere Koordinaten einträgt. Dem Templat fehlt aber leider die eigentlich ganz praktische Genauigkeitsangabe. Vermutlich werde ich {{Location estimated}} in den Fällen benutzen, wo ich tatsächlich auch ohne GPS-Daten eine recht ordentliche Koordinatenangabe habe, die aber ungenauer ist als eine mit GPS-Koordinaten. Beim Rest mache ich das dann nur gelegentlich und auf Nachfrage mit {{Location rounded}}. Das Hinzufügen langer Erklärungen in der Description (wie bei meinem o.g. Steinbrech-Bild) finde ich nicht so schön. Vielen Dank für den Hinweis auf das mir vorher noch nicht bekannte Templat {{Location rounded}}!
