File:NepentheNameIcon.png has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Adding a non-category
[edit]https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:Cleared_land_in_Cedar_River_Watershed,_1911_(38955058432).jpg&curid=64907889&diff=539320595&oldid=466158653 and other similar edits:
- What (if anything) is the point of adding a category to photos without creating the category?
- Normally categories are supposed to be based on objective criteria. How will people decide which spaces are and are not "limimal"? - Jmabel ! talk 05:02, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for the concern Jmabel! :) The addition of this category is the result of an ongoing discussion on the Wikipedia Discord, and a category will be added soon (I don't know how to do it myself at the moment). As for the issue of figuring out definitions, it's been agreed that Liminality#In places should be a good-enough definition for now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Yitzilitt (talk • contribs) 05:30, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
- I try to avoid red links. And for my own pictures: no red links. So I created the category.--XRay 💬 06:00, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
- How is this an "outgrowth" of a discussion that never mentions liminality?
- It seems to me that Liminality#In_places gives a number of disparate and potentially conflicting definitions. I still find this very suspect as a category, because I see no objective way to look at an image and determine whether or not it belongs in this category. I'd strongly suggest that it would be more appropriate to form a gallery page at Liminality, which would also let you group the images and add related commentary about a given image. See my Seattle and the Orient or Romanian Orthodox churches in Bucharest for examples of the sort of thing you can do. - Jmabel ! talk 13:51, 5 March 2021 (UTC)

File:Windstille by Hanno Karlhuber.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

Category:Cursed_images has been listed at Commons:Categories for discussion so that the community can discuss ways in which it should be changed. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this category, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for discussion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it. If the category is up for deletion because it has been superseded, consider the notion that although the category may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new category. In all cases, please do not take the category discussion personally. It is never intended as such. Thank you! |

King's Hand
[edit]Hello. Was actually just looking at other routes to question whether this image really is CC-licenced. We don't know whether User:Freakydeekywiki is the Twitter user @thatfrood who took the photo, or just a random person who uploaded it because they thought Wikipedia needed a picture and ticked "own work" box regardless, right? --Lord Belbury (talk) 21:20, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
- Hi @Lord Belbury, I actually contacted @thatfrood directly back when it first went viral, and walked him through the uploading process, so it definitely is him. I understand that isn't strong proof, so I've DMed him asking to tweet that he's the uploader, which I'll add as a source once he's posted that, if that's okay with you. Yours, Yitz (talk) 21:26, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
- Great to hear it! And yeah, it's not really strong enough for Commons and might get swept away ten years from now if neither you nor I are around and nobody can tell whether it was @thatfrood or a random Twitter reader uploading it. If you could get some public proof that @thatfrood is definitely 100% okay with the photo being CC-Attribution (and hasn't just casually agreed to it being used "on Wikipedia", he also has to be cool with someone putting it on a T-shirt or in a recipe book given that CC-Attribution allows commercial reuse) that would make it watertight. --Lord Belbury (talk) 21:41, 12 November 2021 (UTC)
- Just uploaded a link to this tweet: https://twitter.com/thatfrood/status/1459739314368172036?s=20 (read the tweet below it as well)—let me know if that's sufficient! Yitz (talk) 04:45, 14 November 2021 (UTC)
- Looks good, thanks for sorting it out. I think I'll change the credit box to credit @thatfrood explicitly as the Source/Author, if Freakydeekywiki was just the username of a burner account he created to perform the upload, for the sake of any boilerplate reuse where a book just quotes the "Author" field, making it look like it might not be the original Hand. Long may it reign! --Lord Belbury (talk) 18:09, 14 November 2021 (UTC)
