File:US federal government shutdown notice near the Statue of Liberty.jpg[edit]

Commons-emblem-issue.svg File:US federal government shutdown notice near the Statue of Liberty.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue.
Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

My talk page[edit]

Please talk to me at my Wikipedia talk page instead (w:en:User talk:Z22). Thanks. Z22 (talk) 03:15, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

As a general rule, that won't work. Notices, such as the one above, are placed by a script which will place notices for you here rather than elsewhere. Also note that we do around 2,000 deletions every day -- ten Admins do most of that work and they do not have time to comply with special requests -- that's too bad, but we're on the bare edge of being overwhelmed by the 8,000 new files Commons gets every day.
To avoid coming here frequently to look for new messages, you can ask for an e-mail whenever this page changes -- it's at the bottom of
Preferences > User Profile

Got it. Thanks for good work you do here. Well, in this case, I am changing my wording then. Z22 (talk) 22:32, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

My talk page — take two[edit]

You can also find me on my English Wikipedia talk page (w:en:User talk:Z22). It's not a request that you go there. I'm just saying I'm there too. Z22 (talk) 22:32, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

Inquiry of permission of re-using a figure in our book[edit]

Dear Z22,

This is Dr. Jia He. I'm sending this message to inquire your permission of re-using one of your photos as Figure 3.5 in our forthcoming book. The photo is about seismometer, and the link to that photo is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:CMG-40T_Triaxial_Broadband_Seismometer.JPG

If you don't mind, could you please allow me to re-use this photo in our book of "Smart Civil Structures"? The source of this figure will be certainly cited in a proper way. Thanks very much for your kind help and support. Look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes, —Preceding unsigned comment was added by 158.132.127.192 (talk) 14:25, 30 June 2016 (UTC)

@158.132.127.192: the photo has CC license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/deed.en), you can use as long as you can comply with the CC licensing requirements, not only the attribution requirement similarly to what you mentioned, but also the share alike requirement. Please read the license for details. Good luck with your book. Z22 (talk) 14:41, 30 June 2016 (UTC)

Permission to use figure in a book.[edit]

Dear Z22,

I am working with Prof. Steven LaValle to help obtain permissions for borrowing figures or pictures in his upcoming book Virtual Reality, to be published by Cambridge University Press. The book is online here:

http://vr.cs.uiuc.edu/

We are hoping to include the picture of yours:

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/cb/Dark_pupil_by_infrared_or_near_infrared_illumination.jpg

in this book (Chapter 9, Figure 9.18b ). Could we please have your permission for this? Thank you.

Please contact me at awarkoczewski at yahoo dot com

Sincerely,

Adam Warkoczewski —Preceding unsigned comment was added by 83.25.187.245 (talk) 09:58, 9 February 2017 (UTC)
