Summary[edit]

Description
English: Parts of Northern Louisiana experienced a 1-in-500- to 1-in-1,000-year rain event in the second week of March 2016. Much of the moisture came from the tropics via an atmospheric river that some weather forecasters dubbed a "Maya Express." This animation of the moisture flow is based on infrared data from the GOES East and West satellites between March 6-14, 2016. Video produced by the Climate.gov team in cooperation with climate and Earth scientists from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and other agencies and institutions. Any opinions voiced by people in these videos are their own; they are not official NOAA statements or opinions.
