English: Andrés Avelino Cáceres Dorregaray (February 4, 1833 – October 10, 1923) was twice President of Peru during the 19th century, from 1886 to 1890, and again from 1894 to 1895. In Peru, he is considered a national hero for leading the resistance to Chilean occupation during the War of the Pacific (1879-1883), where he fought as a General in the Peruvian Army.
Español: Andrés Alfredo Cáceres Dorregaray (* Ayacucho, 10 de noviembre de 1836 - † Lima, 10 de octubre de 1923) fue tres veces Presidente del Perú en el siglo XIX, entre 1884 y 1885, entre 1886 y 1890 y nuevamente entre 1894 y 1895. En Perú es considerado un héroe nacional por liderar la resistencia en la sierra central peruana contra la ocupación de Chile durante la guerra del Pacífico (1879-1883), siendo general del ejército peruano. Allí fue conocido como Taita Cáceres y El brujo de los Andes. Era también quechua-hablante. Es considerado patrono del Arma de Infantería del Ejército Peruano.

Er gilt als peruanischer Nationalheld, da er als General der peruanischen Armee den Widerstand gegen die chilenische Besetzung während des Salpeterkrieges von 1879 bis 1883 anführte.
