English: The western gate of the historic city of Munich is Karlstor. It was called Neuhauser Tor until 1791. Around 1300 the gate was built. The main tower was removed, and the gate was remodeled as a neo-gothic structure in 1861/62 by Arnold Zenetti. The middle passage is decorated on the right with three bronze figures from the former fish fountain in Marienplatz, 1866.
