Devils Tower National Monument is the first United States National Monument, established on 24 September 1906 by President Theodore Roosevelt. Located near Hulett and Sundance in eastern Wyoming, its central feature, Devils Tower, is a monolith (more technically, an igneous intrusion) that towers 1267 feet (386 m) above the flood plain of the nearby Belle Fourche River.
