Description
English: "A merciful man is merciful to his beast" Hidden in the gorse bushes behind Lyndhurst cricket pavilion this trough was "erected and endowed by lovers of animals" in 1902. The smaller plaque explains more. It is here for the benefit of thirsty ponies and cattle that are free to roam on this part of the open Forest.
