| Description |
English: Beginning of the path to Scald Law via Turnhouse Hill, Pentlands This ascent is on a very well-defined track and path from the Flotterstone Inn on the A702. The going gets appreciably steeper quite quickly. None of the Pentland hills is much above 1500 feet but they provide endless variety and some stiff climbs within less then 30 minutes drive from the centre of Edinburgh. Not far from the location photographed are two substantial reservoirs - Glencourse and Loganlea - which add further scenic variety and wildlife to the area as well as providing drinking water for Edinburgh. There is a Ranger Centre (unmanned) at Flotterstones which has information boards and leaflets on the Pentlands. |
