Description
English: Structure of biocytin (Nε-(+)-biotinyl-L-lysine). 1) Biocytin is an end product of the proteolytic degradation of biotin dependent carboxylases, e. g. pyruvate carboxylase. To recycle the vitamin biotin biocytin has to be cleaved by the enzyme biotinidase. 2) In brain research biocytin is used as neuronal tracer.
