Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Detail of the Chanin Building, 122 East 42nd Street, New York, New York. Financed by developer Irwin S. Chanin in 1927-29; designed by Sloan and Robertson in collaboration with Chanin's personal architect Jacques Delemarre, along with Rene Paul Chambellan who contributed the architectural sculpture. Among the Chanin's many outstanding Art Deco features is this bronze frieze running along the lower portion of the building, portraying various scenes of plants and animals in the flux of evolution (this detail shows eels and what appears to be flounders). Designated a NYC landmark in 1978 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. See "Chanin Building," Wikipedia.
