Description

The Monitor National Marine Sanctuary’s Advisory Council recently gathered for meetings in Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. While the wreck of the USS Monitor was the main item on the agenda, participants also were given briefings on the biological, environmental, and historical aspects of the area aptly known as the Graveyard of the Atlantic. Here SAC members, staff from the Monitor National Marine Sanctuary, and members of the Maritime Heritage Program examine one of the “anomalies” that has been attributed to some of the mysterious losses of ships in the Graveyard's waters.
