Summary[edit]

Description

Personnel and family members from the National Weather Service Office in Grand Junction, Colorado participate in their annual Adopt a Lake clean up program. Much like the Adopt a Highway program, the GJT office has been cleaning up two lakes on the Grand Mesa since 1992. While the lakes are small (on the order of 4-6 acres) they are favored fishing and camping areas for locals and tourists. Staff members and their families volunteer for this project each year. The lakes are located about 45 minutes from Grand Junction with elevations near 10,500 feet. After cleaning Reservoir Kitson and having a hot dog and marshmallow roast we took a photo break before moving to Twin Lakes.
