Deutsch: Castillo de la Mota bei Medina del Campo. Hier wurde der berüchtigte Cesare Borgia (1475/6-1507) u.a. kurzzeitig gefangengehalten. Nach seiner Verbannung nach Spanien am 27. Mai 1504, wo er ein Jahr in Einzelhaft im Castillo de Chinchilla de Montearagón verbrachte, wurde er hierher verlegt. Im Oktober 1506 soll ihm mithilfe einer seidenen Schnur eine spektakuläre Flucht aus dem Gefängnisturm gelungen sein. Er flüchtete von hier unerkannt zu seinem Schwager Jean d´Albret, dem König von Navarra, nach Pamplona. Als Soldat im Dienste Navarras geriet der 32-jährige am 11. März 1507 während der Belagerung der Festung Viana in einen Hinterhalt, wurde getötet und ist dort begraben. |
