Title
À la fontaine
Description
English: Here, Lhermitte illustrates the theme of washerwomen, for which he had his servant, Hortense Noury, pose near the Sainte-Foy fountain in his native village. This pastel is largely based on "La Petite Fontaine", a painting dating from 1876. Lhermitte regularly painted in this location.
